Cove Warehouse rent paid via an unusual tradition
By ERICA SCHMITT STAFF WRITER
Think what you pay for rent really stinks? Well it’s nothing compared to a certain lease in Old Wethersfield. Candace Holmes brought their payment to Tuesday’s Town Council meeting and handed it over to Mayor Donna Hemmann as smiles and cameras flashed all around. “This is a great tribute to the longstanding relationship you have with the town,” Mayor Donna Hemmann said, accepting the rope of onions. “These will go to good use through the food pantry,” she added. The Historical Society provides programming, exhibits and educational resources to share the town’s colorful history. “In 2012 we welcomed over 20,000 visitors to our historic sites See COVE, Page 6

Boatloads of trash collected at Cove Volunteers take part in annual Source-to-Sea Cleanup event By ERICA SCHMITT STAFF WRITER

were organized and led by the Connecticut River Watershed Council, the Metropolitan District Commission, the Great Meadows Conservation Trust, the Eleanor Buck Wolfe Nature Center and the Nature Conservatory. “The Cove is cleaner than it See SOURCE-TO-SEA, Page 10
