We had two exciting weekends at South Garda Karting. First the “one-shot” race of the Champions Cup, where teams and drivers took to the track to win their first international trophy of the year. After that, the opening stage of the Super Master Series, already able to give a first indication on the “contenders” for the title of a series that still has 3 events to come. Obviously, nothing has been decided yet, but surely those who prevailed in Lonato will have to look behind their backs at those who, for one reason or another, have not yet managed to shine. And to add some spice to this historic, at a karting and international level, WSK Promotion championship, a new circuit entered the Super Master Series: the Franciacorta Karting Track. A novelty that reflects our desire to continuously shuffle the cards over time, while remaining faithful to the history and tradition of this sport. Eyes on the traffic light and... Let’s go!

Abbiamo assistito a due weekend avvincenti al South Garda Karting. Prima la gara “one-shot” della Champions Cup, dove team e piloti sono scesi in pista per fare proprio il primo trofeo di caratura internazionale dell’anno. Poi la tappa d’apertura della Super Master Series, già in grado di dare una prima indicazione sui “papabili” per il titolo di una serie che ha davanti a sé ancora 3 appuntamenti. Ovviamente nulla è ancora stato deciso, ma sicuramente chi ha prevalso a Lonato dovrà guardarsi le spalle da chi, per un motivo o per l’altro, non è ancora riuscito a mettersi in luce. E per aggiungere un po’ di pepe a questo storico - a livello kartistico e internazionalecampionato griffato WSK Promotion, nella Super Master Series fa il suo ingresso anche un nuovo circuito: il Franciacorta Karting Track. Novità che rispecchia il nostro desiderio di mescolare continuamente le carte nel corso del tempo, rimanendo comunque fedeli alla storia e alla tradizione di questo sport. Occhi puntati sul semaforo del via e… Diamoci dentro!

Cristian Bertuca’s (Birel Art/TM) season continues with another success in the KZ2 class. The Italian driver, fresh from the WSK Champions Cup title won the previous week, returned to Lonato among the favourites and achieved fifth place in the official qualifying practices on Friday. Bertuca raised the bar in the qualifying heats and achieved two wins and a second place, while in prefinal A he limited himself to a fourth place to secure pole position in the final on Sunday afternoon. However, at the start Emilien Denner (Sodikart/TM) overtook Bertuca, but it was a matter of a few bends because the Birel Art Racing driver took lead again. Denner tried to worry him in the last laps, but Bertuca did not give in to the pressure and triumphed in front of the Frenchman. Behind them, David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) reached the lowest step of the podium beating Jeremy Iglesias (CRG/TM) in a sprint, followed by Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel Art/TM) and Daniel Vasile (Birel Art/TM), the latter achieving the best time in the qualifying practice.

Prosegue con un altro successo la stagione di Cristian Bertuca (Birel Art/TM) nella categoria KZ2. Il pilota italiano, reduce dal titolo della WSK Champions Cup vinto la settimana precedente, si presenta di nuovo a Lonato tra i favoriti e ottiene il quinto posto nelle qualifiche ufficiali di venerdì. Bertuca alza l’asticella nelle qualifying heat e ottiene un bottino fatto di due vittorie e un secondo posto, mentre nella prefinale A si limita a un quarto posto per assicurarsi la pole position nella finale di domenica pomeriggio. Tuttavia, al via Emilien Denner (Sodikart/TM) scavalca Bertuca, però è questione di poche curve perché il pilota Birel Art Racing passa di nuovo al comando. Denner prova negli ultimi giri a impensierirlo, ma Bertuca non cede alla pressione e trionfa davanti al francese. Dietro di loro, David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) conquista il gradino più basso del podio battendo in volata Jeremy Iglesias (CRG/TM), a sua volta seguito da Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel Art/TM) e Daniel Vasile (Birel Art/TM), quest’ultimo autore del miglior tempo nelle prove cronometrate.

James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex) returned to winning form in a WSK championship, for the first time in the OK class. The American already showed off starting from Friday’s qualifying practices, where he obtained the best time in group 2 and second place in the combined rankings, behind teammate Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex). Egozi continued the weekend with two third places in the qualifying heats and in prefinal A on Sunday morning he achieved victory in addition to the fastest lap. However, the final seemed to have, at least initially, other contenders: Gustav Wisniewski (Exprit/TM) started in pole position and led all phases of the race, until Simone Bianco (CRG/ Iame) at the end of a furious comeback, attacked him five laps from the end. The Pole defended himself while the Italian, passing on the east curb, had a chain breakdown and was forced to retire. It was then that Egozi emerged, able to overtake Wisniewski and win the race. Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex), who came third under the chequered flag, completed the podium.

Torna a vincere James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex) in un campionato WSK, per la prima volta nella categoria OK. Lo statunitense si mette in mostra già a partire delle prove cronometrate di venerdì, dove ottiene il miglior tempo nel gruppo 2 e il secondo posto nella classifica combinata, dietro al compagno di squadra Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/ Vortex). Egozi prosegue il weekend con due terzi posti nelle qualifying heat e nella prefinale A di domenica mattina firma la vittoria oltre al giro più veloce. Tuttavia la finale sembra avere, almeno inizialmente, altri protagonisti: Gustav Wisniewski (Exprit/TM) parte in pole position e conduce tutte le fasi della corsa, fino a quando Simone Bianco (CRG/Iame) al termine di una furiosa rimonta, lo attacca a cinque giri dal termine. Il polacco si difende mentre all’italiano, passando sul cordolo esterno, cede la catena ed è costretto al ritiro. Proprio in quel momento emerge Egozi, in grado di sorpassare Wisniewski e di vincere la gara. Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex), terzo sotto la bandiera a scacchi, completa il podio.

The season of Alp Hasan Aksoy (Tony Kart/Vortex) started with the first career victory in the OKJ class. However, the Turk did not start well on Friday, while Dries Van Langendonck (Energy Corse/TM) was able to take pole position. Soon, however, the leadership passed at the end of the qualifying heats into the hands of Sebastian Lehtimaki (Tony Kart/Vortex), who won four times out of five heats and was ready to start ahead of everyone in the final. The last race of the weekend re-shuffled the cards: from ninth position on the starting grid, Aksoy immediately reached fourth place, and then continued his race to come second. In the last laps he struck a winning blow on Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) and crossed the finish line first, while Lehtimaki achieved the place of honour. From 85th place in the qualifiers, Salim Hanna (LN/Vortex) climbed the rankings in the preliminary heats and even reached the lowest step of the podium in the final.

La stagione di Alp Hasan Aksoy (Tony Kart/Vortex) comincia con la prima vittoria in carriera nella classe OKJ. Tuttavia, il turco non parte bene nella giornata di venerdì, al contrario invece di Dries Van Langendonck (Energy Corse/TM), capace di ottenere la pole position. Presto, però, la leadership passa al termine delle qualifying heat nelle mani di Sebastian Lehtimaki (Tony Kart/Vortex), autore di quattro vittorie su cinque manche e pronto a partire davanti a tutti in finale. L’ultima gara del weekend mescola di nuovo le carte in tavola: dalla nona posizione sulla griglia di partenza, Aksoy guadagna subito il quarto posto, per poi proseguire la sua corsa fino a diventare secondo. Negli ultimi giri sferra il colpo vincente su Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) e taglia per primo il traguardo, mentre Lehtimaki conquista la piazza d’onore. Dall’85° posto delle qualifiche, Salim Hanna (LN/Vortex) scala la classifica nelle manche eliminatorie e arriva addirittura a guadagnarsi il gradino più basso del podio nella finale.

Once again, Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/Iame) was unbeatable. The Turk started the weekend with the absolute best time in the qualifying practices and continued with a series of three victories, a third place and two fastest laps in the qualifying heats. Putting a spoke in his wheels was Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/ Iame), practically perfect in the qualifying heats with four wins out of four races. The two, after winning their respective prefinals, went on to be the absolute protagonists of the final, and this is what happened: Hoogendoorn immediately tried to escape, while Zulfikari remained entangled in the initial fight and dropped to sixth position. The Babyrace Driver Academy driver fought back and recovered up to second place, then in the last laps overtook Hoogendoorn and flew straight to victory. Bogdan Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) and Vladimir Ivannikov (EKS/TM) also ousted Hoogendoorn and finished second and third respectively, just ahead of Belgium.

Ancora una volta, Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/Iame) risulta imbattibile. Il turco apre il weekend con il miglior tempo assoluto nelle prove cronometrate e prosegue con una serie di tre vittorie, un terzo posto e due giri veloci nelle qualifying heat. A mettergli i bastoni tra le ruote c’è Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame), praticamente perfetto nelle manche eliminatorie con quattro vittorie su quattro gare. I due, dopo aver vinto anche le rispettive prefinali, si candidano a essere i protagonisti assoluti della finale, e così accade: Hoogendoorn tenta subito la fuga, mentre Zulfikari rimane invischiato nella bagarre iniziale e scende in sesta posizione. Il pilota Babyrace Driver Academy non ci sta e recupera fino alla seconda posizione, poi negli ultimi giri sorpassa Hoogendoorn e vola dritto verso la vittoria. Anche Bogdan Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) e Vladimir Ivannikov (EKS/TM) spodestano Hoogendoorn e terminano rispettivamente secondo e terzo, proprio davanti al belga.

As in the Champions Cup, the final again saw a duel between Antoine Venant (KR/Iame) and Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame), but the event in Lonato started differently with the pole position in the qualifying practices going to Alessandro Truchot (Parolin/TM). The Frenchman was the main star of the qualifying heats, where he achieved two wins and a third place, although he lost his lead in the rankings at the end of the prefinals, thanks to a 17th place. So, in front of everyone, Legenkyi sprinted out, immediately put under pressure by Daniil Kutskov (Parolin/Iame) and then by Venant. The two gave life to a fiery battle, until the last lap arrived: in the final flight, Venant beat Legenkyi by 105 thousandths of a second. Behind them, however, David Moscardi (Parolin/ TM) crossed the finish line ahead of Truchot (+0.043) and climbed onto the lowest step of the podium.

Come alla Champions Cup, la finale vede di nuovo un duello tra Antoine Venant (KR/Iame) e Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame), ma l’appuntamento di Lonato inizia diversamente con la pole position in qualifica di Alessandro Truchot (Parolin/TM). Il francese è il principale mattatore delle qualifying heat, dove ottiene due vittorie e un terzo posto, però perde la testa della classifica al termine delle prefinali, complice un 17° posto. Così, davanti a tutti, scatta Legenkyi subito messo alle strette prima da Daniil Kutskov (Parolin/Iame) e poi da Venant. I due danno vita a una battaglia infuocata, finché non arriva l’ultimo giro: nella volata finale, Venant batte Legenkyi per 105 millesimi di secondo. Dietro di loro, invece, David Moscardi (Parolin/TM) taglia il traguardo davanti a Truchot (+0.043) e sale così sul gradino più basso del podio.
