The half-way point for the Super Master Series, with two completed events and two still to be held. The time has therefore come to go to the beating “heart” of WSK Promotion: the International Circuit La Conca. A warm and welcoming southern Italy is preparing to welcome, with open arms, the protagonists of the OK, OKJ and MINI classes who have given life, up to now, to an exciting show, to the last breath, in the races valid for the 2022 championship. At the moment, the situation is in fact balanced in the rankings of all three classes and it could not be otherwise, considering that six different winners of as many different nationalities have emerged: a good demonstration of the great mix of international talent present on the starting grids of WSK-branded races. And now, right on the track where our story began, the candidates for the battle for the three titles will be decided. It is impossible to predict who will lift the winning cups, but what we know and can say with certainty already is that none of the drivers at the start will give up. In order to enter the prestigious Hall of Fame of the “Master” by right, these drivers are ready to give everything. Always in the name of sportsmanship, of course. Good luck! Giro di boa per la Super Master Series, con due appuntamenti archiviati e due ancora da disputare. È giunto quindi il tempo di andare nel “cuore” pulsante di WSK Promotion: l’International Circuit La Conca. Il caldo e accogliente sud Italia si prepara a ricevere a braccia aperte i protagonisti delle classi OK, OKJ e MINI che hanno dato vita, fino a ora, a uno spettacolo emozionante, all’ultimo respiro, nelle gare valide per il campionato 2022. La situazione, al momento, è infatti equilibrata nelle classifiche di tutte e tre le categorie e non poteva essere diversamente, considerato che sono emersi ben sei diversi vincitori, di altrettante differenti nazionalità: una bella dimostrazione del grande mix di talenti internazionali presente sulle griglie di partenza delle gare targate WSK. E ora, proprio sulla pista dove la nostra storia è cominciata, si decideranno i candidati per la lotta ai tre titoli. Impossibile prevedere chi alzerà le coppe dei vincitori, ma quello che sappiamo e che possiamo dire già ora con certezza è che nessuno dei piloti al via mollerà la presa. Pur di entrare di diritto nella prestigiosa Hall of Fame della “Master”, questi ragazzi sono pronti a dare tutto. Sempre nel segno della sportività, ovvio. In bocca al lupo!

Anche in occasione del secondo round di campionato, è un pilota del Tony Kart Racing Team a conquistare la vittoria. Grazie a una serie di risultati sul podio nel corso delle qualifying heat e alla prima posizione nella prefinale B, Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) si presenta in pole position sulla griglia di partenza della finale. Allo spegnimento dei semafori, il pilota finlandese transita in testa alla prima curva e, gestendo al meglio la corsa, taglia per primo il traguardo finale. A lungo in terza posizione, Alex Powell (KR/Iame) sorpassa Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex), in quel momento secondo, e riduce il margine su Taponen. Il pilota con licenza giamaicana conclude a +0.546 dal vincitore, mentre Coluccio chiude in terza posizione. Un contatto mette fine prematuramente alla gara di Matheus Ferreira (KR/ Iame), autore del miglior tempo in qualifica, e Joseph Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex), vincitore della prefinale A. OK - RANKING

Also on the occasion of the second round of the championship, it is a Tony Kart Racing Team driver who achieved victory. Thanks to a series of results on the podium during the qualifying heats and first position in prefinal B, Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/ Vortex) was in pole position on the starting grid of the final. When the traffic lights went out, the Finnish driver passed into the lead at the first bend and, managing the race as best he could, crosse the final finish line first. For a long time in third position, Alex Powell (KR/Iame) overtook Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/ Vortex), who was second at the time, and reduced the distance from Taponen. The driver with the Jamaican license ended +0.546 from the winner, while Coluccio finished third. An almost perfect weekend for Lucas Fluxa (KR/ Iame) in the second round of the championship in Lonato. The Spaniard was already the fastest in qualifying on Friday and, during the qualifying heats, he won three out of four races. Unfortunately, in the third heat, Fluxa had to withdraw and, at the end of Saturday, dropped to tenth position in the general rankings. With an excellent second place in the prefinal, the KR Motorsport driver was in fifth position on the starting grid of the final and proved to everyone that he is unstoppable: already at the end of the lap 5 he was in second place and then he overtook Oleksandr Bondarev (LN/Vortex), who started from pole position and had stayed in the lead until then, on lap 12. Fluxa won the final with a margin of 0.887 seconds over Bondarev, who finished second. Always in third position for a good part of the race, Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex) conquered the lowest step of the podium.

Un weekend quasi perfetto quello di Lucas Fluxa (KR/Iame) nel secondo appuntamento di campionato a Lonato. Lo spagnolo è il più veloce già nelle qualifiche di venerdì e, nel corso delle qualifying heat, si impone in tre gare su quattro. Purtroppo, nella terza manche, Fluxa colleziona un ritiro e, al termine della giornata di sabato, scende in decima posizione nella classifica generale. Con un ottimo secondo posto in prefinale, il pilota di KR Motorsport si presenta in quinta posizione sulla griglia di partenza della finale e dimostra a tutti di essere incontenibile: già al termine del 5° giro è in seconda posizione, poi sorpassa Oleksandr Bondarev (LN/Vortex), partito dalla pole position e rimasto fino a quel momento in testa alla corsa, al 12° giro. Fluxa vince la finale con un margine di 0.887 secondi di vantaggio su Bondarev, che si classifica secondo. Per buona parte della gara fisso in terza posizione, Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex) conquista il gradino più basso del podio. OKJ - RANKING P.

Dopo aver concluso secondo alla WSK Champions Cup ed essere salito sul podio del primo round della WSK Super Master Series, Jindrich Pesl (Parolin/ Iame) centra finalmente la vittoria nel secondo appuntamento della “Master”. Il pilota ceco inaugura il weekend con un 13° posto in qualifica, ma dalle qualifying heat in poi colleziona solo ed esclusivamente la prima posizione, comprese le sessioni di warm-up e la prefinale. In finale Pesl parte bene dalla pole position e mantiene la leadership per tutta la corsa, ma Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM Racing) lo sopravanza a pochi giri dal termine. Pesl mantiene il sangue freddo e, dopo poche curve, ripassa lo spagnolo volando dritto verso il primo trionfo stagionale. Filippo Sala (KR/Iame) approfitta della lotta tra i due e conquista la seconda posizione, mentre Dries Van Langendonck (Parolin/ TM Racing) batte in volata Costoya e ottiene il terzo posto.

After finishing second in the WSK Champions Cup and getting on the podium of the first round of the WSK Super Master Series, Jindrich Pesl (Parolin/ Iame) finally achieved the victory in the second round of the “Master”. The Czech driver started the weekend with a 13th place in the qualifying, but from the qualifying heats onwards he only and exclusively achieved first position, including the warm-up sessions and the prefinal. In the final Pesl started well from pole position and stayed in the leadthroughout the race, but Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM Racing) overtook him with a few laps to go. Pesl kept a cool head and, after a few bends, passed the Spaniard flying straight towards the first triumph of the season. Filippo Sala (KR/Iame) took advantage of the dual between the two and conquered the second position, while Dries Van Langendonck (Parolin/TM Racing) beat Costoya in the sprint and came third.

MINI: ONE CLASS, MANY BRANDS

The MINI class is “bigger” than one might think. Introduced for the first time in WSK Promotion events over ten years ago, it allows children to enter the world of international karting and allows them to hone their skills on the track. It is no coincidence that, over the course of the seasons, more and more manufacturers have committed to making karts for this class, up to the global number of over 30 different brands represented on the track in all editions of the WSK Super Master Series. Last year alone, in 2021, the 157 drivers who gave life to the championship got on board karts of 18 different brands, resuming the trend confirmed in 2018: at the time, there were 19 brands involved.

La categoria MINI è più “grande” di quanto si possa pensare. Introdotta per la prima volta nelle manifestazioni WSK Promotion oltre dieci anni fa, permette ai più piccoli di accedere al mondo del karting internazionale e permette loro di affinare le proprie abilità in pista. Non è un caso che, nel corso delle stagioni, sempre più costruttori si sono impegnati a realizzare dei kart su misura per questa classe, fino a raggiungere il numero globale di oltre 30 brand differenti rappresentati in pista in tutte le edizioni della WSK Super Master Series. Solo lo scorso anno, nel 2021, i 157 piloti che hanno dato vita al campionato sono saliti a bordo di kart firmati con 18 marchi diversi, riprendendo il trend confermato nel 2018: al tempo, i brand impegnati erano 19.

LA CONCA: THE “CRADLE” OF THE WSK

Established in 1999 and expanded in 2001, the International Circuit La Conca in Muro Leccese, located on the extreme tip of the Puglia region, has over the years become one of the most important tracks for great international karting. It has always been the home of WSK Promotion, which began its “world” adventure here on 5 February 2006 with the International Series, and since 2011, excluding 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has always hosted the prestigious Super Master Series, with the honour of inaugurating the championship as a stage of the first round of the season between 2011 and 2013, as well as being designated as the final event of the 2014 edition. Its 1,250 metres of asphalt strip offer a challenging test bench for pilots and technicians, thanks to its technical design, also because of its fast and spectacular sections, and its asphalt, with high grip. The La Conca circuit will host the new WSK Super Cup by MINI, the “Mini World Championship” reserved for the youngest class, on 4 June.

Nato nel 1999 e ampliato nel 2001, l’International Circuit La Conca di Muro Leccese, situato nell’estrema punta della regione Puglia, è diventato nel corso degli anni una delle piste di riferimento del grande karting internazionale. Da sempre è la casa di WSK Promotion, che qui ha iniziato la sua avventura “mondiale” il 5 febbraio 2006 con l’International Series, e fin dal 2011, escluso il 2020 a causa della pandemia di COVID-19, ha sempre ospitato la prestigiosa Super Master Series, con l’onore di inaugurare il campionato come tappa del primo round stagionale tra il 2011 e il 2013, oltre ad essere designata come appuntamento finale dell’edizione 2014. I suoi 1.250 metri di nastro d’asfalto offrono un impegnativo banco di prova per piloti e tecnici, complici il suo disegno tecnico, caratterizzato anche da tratti veloci e spettacolari, e il suo asfalto, dal grip elevato. Proprio il circuito di La Conca ospiterà la nuova WSK Super Cup by MINI, il “Mondialino” riservato alla classe dei più piccoli, il prossimo 4 giugno.
