WSK Promotion’s first time at the Franciacorta Karting Track will be an event to remember in the coming years for many reasons. Above all, without doubt, the extraordinary number of 361 participants who literally invaded the Italian track: this is the second best result ever in terms of verified drivers for all editions of the Super Master Series, preceded only by the 362 entries for the second round of the 2020 season at South Garda Karting in Lonato, which was staged, among other things, shortly before the worldwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the record numbers don’t end there: in the OKJ category a record of 105 protagonists at the start, while in the two MINI classes a total of over 120 drivers were present, as in the first round. These figures indicate that the innovations introduced by our organisational staff have been received more than positively and that the path taken is the right one. The same we have been following, with passion, for over 15 years. Now, however, two crucial events await us: the International Circuit Napoli, which has always been a point of reference for our championships, and Cremona Karting, another great new entry that will elect the champions of all five competing classes. La prima volta di WSK Promotion al circuito Franciacorta Karting Track sarà un evento da ricordare nei prossimi anni, per tanti motivi. Su tutti, sicuramente, il numero straordinario di 361 partecipanti che ha letteralmente invaso la pista italiana: si tratta del secondo miglior risultato di sempre a livello di verificati per quanto riguarda tutte le edizioni della Super Master Series, preceduto solo dai 362 iscritti della seconda tappa della stagione 2020 al South Garda Karting di Lonato, andata tra l’altro in scena poco prima del lockdown mondiale a causa della pandemia di COVID-19. Ma i numeri record non finiscono qui: nella categoria OKJ si è registrato il primato di 105 protagonisti al via, mentre nelle due classi MINI hanno trovato spazio, come nel primo round, un totale di oltre 120 piloti. Queste cifre indicano che le novità introdotte dal nostro staff organizzativo sono state recepite più che positivamente e che la strada intrapresa è quella giusta. La stessa che percorriamo, con passione, da oltre 15 anni. Ora, però, ci attendono due appuntamenti cruciali: il Circuito Internazionale Napoli, da sempre punto di riferimento per i nostri campionati, e il Cremona Karting, altra grande new-entry che eleggerà i campioni di tutte e cinque le categorie in gara. After the first two victories of the year achieved by Cristian Bertuca (Birel Art/TM), Franciacorta saw Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) shine on the top step of the podium. The Frenchman already stood out in Friday’s qualifying practices where he achieved a best lap time of 45.936, replicated exactly by Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame). Leuillet won twice in the next three qualifying heats and confirmed his lead in the intermediate rankings, continuing with another success in prefinal A. When the traffic lights went out, Leuillet took off perfectly from pole position and Emilien Denner (Sodikart/TM) immediately tried to worry him, but the latter withdrew after a contact with Giuseppe Palomba (Birel Art/TM); Leuillet therefore became uncatchable and flew straight to victory on his own. With a comeback of 10 positions from the start, Senna Van Walstijn (Sodikart/TM) took the place of honour, but in the post-race he was relegated to third place due to a bad manoeuvre on Bertuca: it was therefore the Italian who achieved the second final position.

Dopo le prime due vittorie dell’anno andate a Cristian Bertuca (Birel Art/TM), Franciacorta vede brillare Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) sul gradino più alto del podio. Il francese svetta già nelle qualifiche di venerdì dove registra un tempo di 45.936, crono replicato esattamente da Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame). Leuillet totalizza due vittorie nelle successive tre qualifying heat e si conferma in vetta alla classifica intermedia, proseguendo con un ulteriore successo nella prefinale A. Allo spegnimento dei semafori, Leuillet scatta perfettamente dalla pole position ed Emilien Denner (Sodikart/TM) prova subito a impensierirlo, ma quest’ultimo si ritira dopo un contatto con Giuseppe Palomba (Birel Art/TM); Leuillet diventa quindi imprendibile e, in solitaria, vola dritto verso la vittoria. Con una rimonta di 10 posizioni rispetto al via, Senna Van Walstijn (Sodikart/TM) si prende la piazza d’onore, ma nel post-gara viene retrocesso al terzo posto per una manovra non corretta su Bertuca: è proprio l’italiano a fregiarsi così della seconda posizione finale.

David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) returned to victory after the unfortunate first round at South Garda Karting in Lonato. The Dane immediately put everyone on the line in Friday’s qualifying practices with the absolute best time, achieved a perfect score of three wins out of three during the qualifying heats and “limited” himself to a fourth place in Sunday morning’s prefinal A. In the final Walther left little to his opponents: he immediately took the lead at the first bend and quickly extended his lead over the whole group. Only Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex) didn’t let go and, indeed, remained dangerously close to Walther, but the WSK Champions Cup champion crossed the finish line first, 401 thousandths of a second ahead of the Frenchman. Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) remained in third place and achieved the lowest step of the podium, preceding Joseph Turney (KR/Iame), who came fourth, under the chequered flag, with René Lammers (Parolin/TM) coming fifth, and Emanuele Olivieri (IPK/TM), coming sixth. Seventh place for James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex), the current championship leader.

Il danese mette tutti subito in riga nelle qualifiche di venerdì con il miglior tempo assoluto, realizza uno score perfetto di tre vittorie su tre nel corso delle qualifying heat e si “limita” a un quarto posto nella prefinale A di domenica mattina. Nella finale Walther lascia solo le briciole ai propri avversari: prende subito il comando alla prima curva e, rapidamente, amplia il proprio vantaggio su tutto il gruppo. Solo Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex) non molla la presa e, anzi, rimane pericolosamente vicino a Walther, ma il campione della WSK Champions Cup taglia per primo il traguardo con 401 millesimi di secondo di vantaggio sul francese. Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) mantiene la terza posizione e conquista il gradino più basso del podio, precedendo sotto la bandiera a scacchi Joseph Turney (KR/Iame), quarto, René Lammers (Parolin/TM), quinto, ed Emanuele Olivieri (IPK/ TM), sesto. Settimo posto per James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex), attuale leader di campionato.

An unimaginable finish in the Junior class in Franciacorta. After missing the Lonato race due to an injury, Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) returned to the track immediately, going on to achieve pole position in the qualifying practices and proceeding to achieve three victories without any problems, a second place and a fifth in the qualifying heats. These results, combined with the prefinal A where he finished in fourth place, gave him the chance to start in front of everyone in the decisive final on Sunday. Wherrell did not waste this chance and, right from the start, firmly held the lead for almost the entire race. On the penultimate lap, Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) tried to overtake the British driver, but it didn’t go well. The manoeuvre instead succeeded in the next passage, Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) managed to pull it off. Wherrell responded at the last hairpin and returned to first place, but Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) outwitted both of them and won the race. Only after the podium did the stewards penalize Schaufler by 5 seconds for an incorrect manoeuver in the final stages, so Antonov inherited the victory. Wherrell and Dries Van Langendonck (Energy Corse/TM) completed the podium.

Un finale inimmaginabile nella categoria Junior a Franciacorta. Dopo aver saltato la gara di Lonato per un infortunio, Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) si ripresenta in pista andando subito a firmare la pole position in qualifica e procede, senza intoppi, con la conquista di tre vittorie, un secondo posto e un quinto nelle qualifying heat. Questi risultati, uniti alla prefinale A chiusa in quarta posizione, gli valgono la possibilità di partire davanti a tutti nella decisiva finale di domenica. Wherrell non spreca questa chance e, fin dalla partenza, mantiene saldamente il comando per la quasi totalità della corsa. Al penultimo giro, Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) cerca il sorpasso sul britannico, ma non va a buon fine. La manovra, invece, riesce nel passaggio successivo a Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame). Wherrell risponde all’ultimo tornante e ritorna davanti, ma Niklas Schaufler (KR/ Iame) beffa entrambi e vince la gara. Solo dopo il podio, i commissari sportivi penalizzano Schaufler di 5 secondi per una manovra scorretta nelle ultime fasi, così Antonov eredita la vittoria. Wherrell e Dries Van Langendonck (Energy Corse/TM) completano il podio.

Continuo rimescolamento di carte della categoria

MINI Gr.3 durante l’arco di tutto il weekend. Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/Iame) si candida di nuovo alla vittoria finale con il miglior tempo nelle prove cronometrate, ma al termine delle qualifying heat la situazione cambia: con una rimonta dal 34° posto e tre successi, Noah Baglin (KR/Iame) conquista la prima posizione nella classifica intermedia, seguito nell’ordine da Shen Zeyu (Parolin/TM), Zulfikari, Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame), Ilia Berezkin (KR/Iame) e Bosco Arias Chavarri (KR/Iame). Baglin vince anche la prefinale A e si prepara ad affrontare la finale nel ruolo di protagonista principale, ma nel giro di formazione non riesce a partire ed è costretto a prendere il via dalla pre-griglia. Ne approfitta Zulfikari, subito al comando dopo la prima curva, ma Chavarri gli mette i bastoni tra le ruote all’ultimo giro: i due entrano in contatto, il turco si ritira e lo spagnolo s’invola verso la vittoria. Hoogendoorn chiude secondo, mentre Zeyu è terzo.

A continuous shuffling of cards in the MINI Gr.3 class throughout the weekend. Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/ Iame) was once again a candidate for the final victory with the best time in the qualifying practices, but at the end of the qualifying heats the situation changed: with a comeback from 34th place and three wins, Noah Baglin (KR/Iame) gained first place in the intermediate rankings, followed in order by Shen Zeyu (Parolin/TM), Zulfikari, Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame), Ilia Berezkin (KR/Iame) and Bosco Arias Chavarri (KR/Iame). Baglin also won prefinal A and prepared to race in the final as the main contender, but in the formation lap he was unable to start and was forced to start from the pre-grid. Zulfikari took advantage of it, immediately in command after the first bend, but Chavarri puts a spoke in his wheels on the last lap: the two come into contact, the Turkish driver withdrew and the Spaniard took off towards victory. Hoogendoorn finished second, while Zeyu came third.

The MINI Gr.3 U10 also saw constant changes at the top of the rankings. Sebastian Eskandari Marandi (Tony Kart/Vortex) was the fastest overall in the qualifying practices, but the subsequent qualifying heats and prefinals charged Antoine Venant (KR/ Iame) into the lead, achieving three victories and a second place, with Achille Rea (CRG/TM) in the role of first pursuer. The final saw a two-way challenge between Venant and Rea: the Belgian led the race, while the Italian studied his rival’s moves for a long time. At the last hairpin of the last lap, Rea surprised Venant, slipped past him and won by just 196 thousandths of a second. Behind them, Michele Orlando (IPK/TM) found the necessary starting point to overtake Stan Fagot (Parolin/TM) and Maximus Unt (Tony Kart/TM) and finished in third place, with the Swiss driver and the Swede respectively coming fourth and fifth. Daniil Kutskov (Parolin/Iame) recovered 16 positions and finished in sixth place.

Anche la MINI Gr.3 U10 vede continui cambiamenti in vetta alla classifica. In qualifica è Sebastian Eskandari Marandi (Tony Kart/Vortex) il più veloce in assoluto, ma le successive manche eliminatorie e le prefinali promuovono in testa Antoine Venant (KR/Iame), autore di tre vittorie e un secondo posto, con Achille Rea (CRG/TM) nel ruolo di primo inseguitore. La finale vede una sfida a due proprio tra Venant e Rea: il belga tiene le redini della gara, mentre l’italiano studia a lungo le mosse del rivale. All’ultimo tornante dell’ultimo giro, Rea sorprende Venant, lo infila e conquista la vittoria per soli 196 millesimi di secondo. Dietro di loro, Michele Orlando (IPK/TM) trova lo spunto necessario per sorpassare Stan Fagot (Parolin/TM) e Maximus Unt (Tony Kart/ TM) e termina in terza posizione, con lo svizzero e lo svedese rispettivamente quarto e quinto. Daniil Kutskov (Parolin/Iame) rimonta 16 posizioni e si classifica sesto.
