EDITORIAL Imola, the heart of Italian motorsport! Racing here is always special and, for young drivers at their first experience in the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth singleseater, taking the chequered lag provides that little bit of extra appeal that makes the third round of the championship even more anticipated and coveted. If you also factor in standings that see six drivers within just over 50 points of each other and the fact that the eight races held so far have had four diferent winners, it becomes clear that there are all the ingredients for another great weekend of motorsport. Right there, on the track which represents the pulsating heart of passion.

CONTENTS

RACE A-B

GUZMAN WINS

At Race A - B start, the clutch release of poleman Raul Guzman (DR Formula) was too aggressive, resulting in excessive wheelspin of the line. It was no problem for Mauricio Baiz (Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) who passed him of the start. The positions changed on the 9th lap, when Baiz, who by now was in trouble with excessive tyre wear, began to lose speed. Guzman not only passed him but went on to win untroubled. The battle was not yet over with the charge coming from Chinese driver Ye Yifei, who passed Joao Vieira on the 16th lap, Vieria going on to finish 4th. Yifei catching right up to the rear wing of Baiz (who aterwards declared he had problems with changing gears in the last few corners). The decisive move for second coming on the final lap. Fith place for the Brazilian Giuliano Raucci (Diegi Motorsport), who gained 3 positions from the start, closing up on Ian Rodriguez (DRZ Benelli), winner of the Rookie Trophy, Kush Maini (BVM Racing) and Giacomo Altoè (Bhaitech), who survived a great dice with Yan Shlom (11th at the chequered lag). In 9th position Diego Ciantini (Jenzer Motorsport) and behind him the Dutch Leonard Hogenboom (Cram Motorsport). Drama right up until the final few corners; Lorenzo Colombo (BVM Racing) prevailing over Aldo Festante (Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) and Diego Bertonelli (RB Racing).

In nona posizione chiude Diego Ciantini (Jenzer Motorsport).

RACE A-C

SIEBERT AHEAD OF THE “ROOKIE”

Race 3 saw the drivers from Groups A and C take to the circuit. When the red lights went out it was the Mexican Raul Guzman (DR Racing) from pole position who was beaten of the line by the Italian Simone Cunati (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing) and the Argentine Marcos Siebert (Jenzer Motorsport). Guzman retook second place on lap 5 however the Safety Car came onto the circuit a lap later following contact between Federico Iribarne (Torino Squadra Corse) and Giacomo Bianchi (Jenzer Motorsport). The collision claimed Fabienne Wohlwend (Aragon Racing), nevertheless she still claimed the Women's Trophy. On the podium also the Chinese Ye Yifei (Kfzteile24 Mucke Motorsport) who came from 5th on the grid. 4th place was claimed by the Dutchman Richard Verschoor (Bhaitech) who was followed home by the Japanese Marino Sato (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing), who made great charge from 10th on the grid, Ian Rodriguez (DRZ Benelli), Kush Maini (BVM Racing), the two Antonelli Motorsport drivers Federico Malvestiti and Kikko Galbiati, and Fabio Scherer (Jenzer Motorsport). Giacomo Altoè (Bhaitech) missed out on a top ten finish by only 6 tenths. Cunati won the Rookie Trophy from Verschoor and Rodriguez. Ater the race, Ye Yifei was excluded for being underweight in post race scruiteneering, elevating Verschoor into 3rd.

FINAL RACE

BAIZ WINS THE CLOSING RACE OF

The closing race of the weekend at Adria saw a full field of 30 drivers with the grid decided by points accumulated in the first 3 races. From pole position Mauricio Baiz (Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) made a faultless start to maintain a lead that he would not relinquish for the entire race. Behind him however was anything but clear cut. It was eventually the Chinese Yi Yifei (Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), started seventh on the grid, who won the battle for second but not until the 16th lap when he finally got by the Argentine Marcos Siebert (Jenzer Motorsport). Fourth place for Joao Vieria (Antonelli Motorsport) who for much of the middle of the race withstood the immense pressure of Siebert. Fith place for the Mexican Raul Guzman (DR Racing), who slid seventh ater the opening few corners and drove a strong race to recover the positions, ahead of Richard Verschoor (Bhaitech), Simone Cunati, (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing), Marino Sato (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing), Yan Shlom (RB Racing) and Kush Maini (BVM Racing). Cunati took out the Rookie Trophy from Maini and Federico Malvestiti (Antonelli Motorsport). Fabienne Wohlwend won the Women's Trophy. The race finished behind the Safety Car which entered the circuit ater contact between Giuliano Raucci (Diegi Motorsport) and Artem Petrov (DR Formula).

ROUND 3 IMOLA // 29 MAY

F.4 WOMAN TROPHY It was all too easy for Fabienne Wohlwend, the only driver currently competing in the F.4 Woman Trophy, who nevertheless was always among the race leaders.

F.4 TEAM STANDINGS

The Prema Powerteam pays the consequences of its absence at Adria and loses its lead to Jenzer Motorsport. It is still in the slipstream, in third place, only 5 points behind Kfzteile24 Mucke Motorsport in second place.
