From Vallelunga to Monza, from the circuit of the Italian capital to the absolute temple of speed. The Monza raceway was founded in 1922 and since then has been stage to the world’s high-profile motorsport events, including those of the F.1, which is returning once again this year. It’s going to be a thrill to see the young F.4 talents - as many as thirty for round two of the Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth - battle on such a legendary and prestigious circuit. Yet, this is just one of the top level venues on schedule for 2015. In fact, after Monza, the championship is set to continue on a select list of Italy’s world-renown motorsport venues, starting from round four in Mugello, a MotoGP favorite, and ending with the grand finale in Misano.

ARON CONQUERS THE FIRST VICTORY
2
ralf aron (Prema PowerTeam)
Ralf Aron (Prema Powerteam) conquers pole position and dashes into the lead in Race 1. In the first laps, the Estonian is pressured by teammate Guan Yu Zhou, second off grid, but then charges ahead and pulls away. Eventually Joao Vieira (Antonelli Motorsport) catches up to the Chinese runner-up and passes him. At the end of the race, it’s Robert Shwartzman’s turn: fourth off grid, the Mücke Motorsport driver also works his way up to Zhou and gets ahead. In the last laps of the race the lead pack is followed by Shwartzman’s teammate David Beckmann and Marcos Siebert (Jenzer Motorsport), until the latter flies off track in the attempt to overtake. At the end, Aron wins 5.4 seconds over Vieira, plus the best lap (1’34.941): “I feel great, the car was perfect, I want to say thanks to my team,” he comments right off track. Viera, second, says: “I started well, but when I passed Guan Yu Zhou, Aron was already gone”; and Shwartzman closes saying: “I recovered well, I’m happy”. In the first race of the Woman Trophy, introduced to promote female drivers, it’s Julia Pankiewicz who beats sister Wiktoria (both RB Racing).

BECKMANN, SECOND WINNER OF 2015
4
David Beckmann from team Mücke Motorsport makes the better of his second place on grid, acquired thanks to the inversion of the top 10 finishers of Race 1, plus a oneposition penalty. In fact, the German immediately leaps into the lead with a phenomenal dash past pole-man Bar Baruch (Israel F.4) and flies off to secure his first victory of the season, holding a steady pace and fast speed all race long. On his hand, his Israeli rival proves good race management skills, holding on to second place and fending off pressure from Lucas Mauron (Jenzer Motorsport), who starts and ends third, glued to him. Behind the two, the battle for fourth place offers a real thrill, with Joao Vieira (Antonelli Motorsport), Robert Shwartzman (Mücke Motorsport) and Kevin Perez Kanayet (Malta Formula Racing) running wheel-to-wheel the whole time and proving their maturity in avoiding contacts. In the “family duel” of the Woman Trophy between Polish sisters Wiktoria and Julia Pankiewicz (RB Racing), this time it’s Wiktoria who takes the win; though, both sisters improve their lap times.

ARON DOUBLES UP FOR THE POINT LEAD
6
After his setback in Race 2 due to an accident, Ralf Aron (Prema Powerteam) candidates himself as one of the title contenders for the 2015 season by winning Race 3. Aron starts from P2 on grid behind his teammate Guan Yu Zhou (pole setter in qualifying session 2), quickly catches up to him and overtakes. Behind the two the battle sparks up, with Joao Vieira (Antonelli Motorsport) hounded by David Beckmann (Mücke Motorsport), who tries to attack multiple times until the “fatal” move resulting in contact that sends him off track and costs his Brazilian rival a drive-through penalty. Matteo Desideri (Antonelli Motorsport) “graduates” as the first Italian on the podium for the season, with an excellent third place finish after a great rise from sixth on grid. For sure he benefitted from the accident between Beckmann and Vieira, but the result is also proof of his improvement across the weekend. In the “girl-power” duel between the Pankiewicz twins (both with RB Racing), Wiktoria wins again and takes the lead of the Woman Trophy with 56 points, 2 more than sister Julia.

WOMAN TROPHY
Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth
Launched by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion, the Woman Trophy is the big news for 2015: an ambitious initiative to support girls in motorsports Fortemente voluto da ACI Sport e WSK Promotion, il Woman Trophy è la novità del 2015.
In every championship round, each of the 3 races on schedule will have a dedicated Woman Trophy podium and award ceremony, alongside the regular podium celebrations tied to the championship. This will give girl participants a bigger opportunity to gain visibility among fans and media operators. The Woman Trophy is open to girls of all nationalities who are 15 years or older, as per F.4 regulations. The top three woman drivers of every race will receive dedicated honor awards. The final standings of the 2015 Woman Trophy title hunt will be determined by the sum of points tied to the best race results obtained across the season.

PANKIEWICZ TWINS Face to face with the first two girls of the Italian F.4 Conosciamo meglio le prime due ragazze della F.4 italiana The Pankiewicz twins, Julia and Wiktoria, are the first participants of the 2015 Woman Trophy, at their debut in Formula cars. In each race, the girls fight to improve their standing among 30 male competitors, while dueling against each other for the leadership of the Trophy. In the first round of the season, Julia stole the limelight in race 1, while Wiktoria won race 2 and 3, taking command (even if by a mere 2 points).
INTERVIEW
1 3
Your impressions after the first races in Vallelunga?
WIKTORIA: There is still a lot that we have to learn, because this is our first try at Formula racing after karts even simply getting used to higher speed levels; but I’m sure we’ll get better as the championship goes on. Who’s the strongest of the two? Chi è la più forte fra voi due? WIKTORIA: I think we’re pretty much even for now, there isn’t much of a difference; we saw it while testing and also in Vallelunga.
2
JULIA: : It depends a lot on the circuit. We’re pretty much even, but we noticed that one tends to go faster than the other depending on the type of layout. We’ll see at the end of the year. Vedremo a fine anno.
What do you think about the Woman Trophy? Cosa ne pensate del Woman Trophy?
WIKTORIA: It’s an excellent initiative, a very good one. È un’ottima iniziativa, molto positiva. JULIA: I think it’s extremely useful to motivate girl drivers and support them through their racing careers. There’s huge media attention. I think the Italian F.4 championship deserves an applause for this initiative, because there is nothing else like it in the other series.
