Final Cup, it’s all in the name: after this race weekend... the season is over. As is only fair, afterall, since even the most passionate of us need to recharge their energy pack, let all that happened over the year sink in, and then calmly plan for the future. We all know how it is, anyways; give it a few weeks and that uncontainable desire to pack up, take a plane at dawn or drive a thousand kilometers to the next race circuit, will be biting harder than ever, making us count the hours before we can hear engines blare anew. But don’t fret, time flies and before you know it we’ll be back together on track, ready to talk about, breathe in, and experience new karting thrills. So, for now let’s enjoy the closing act of the 2015 WSK season, because it’s not over until everyone lets off the gas at the ultimate finish line.
Final Cup, lo dice il nome stesso: dopo questa gara la stagione, di fatto... finisce. Giusto così, perché anche la passione più sfrenata ha bisogno di ricaricare le batterie, godersi quanto vissuto in un anno in pista e pianificare con calma il futuro. Tanto, lo sappiamo, tempo un paio di weekend e quella voglia irrefrenabile di fare le valigie, prendere un aereo all’alba o guidare per mille chilometri fino al prossimo kartodromo, tornerà più forte di prima, facendoci contare le ore che mancano per riaccendere i motori un’altra volta. Tranquilli, il tempo passa in fretta e in men che non si dica ci ritroveremo ancora insieme, ancora in pista, ancora a parlare, e vivere, di kart. Per il momento, però, godiamoci l’ultima gara della stagione WSK 2015, perché fino all’ultimo metro d’asfalto nessuno, si sa, vuole mai alzare il piede destro dal gas.

Inuagurated in 2014, the new kart track inside the Adria International Raceway complex is the expression of the highest design and technology standards: 1300 meters long, cement escape routes, a bridge structure that houses the race directors’ designated station, and a sophisticated lighting system for night competitions, besides all the services and amenities to cater to large audiences. The Final Cup is the traditional season closer, since 2011. The first edition was held in Ortona and the two after that in Castelletto. Since 2014, the event goes on stage the new Adria track. La WSK Final Cup è la tradizionale gara di fine anno dal 2011. La prima edizione si corse a Ortona e le due a seguire a Castelletto. Dal 2014 l’evento va in scena nella nuova pista di Adria.

The topmost shifter class in karting, where all the big factory teams and brands want to be. The defending champion is Marco Ardigò La categoria con il cambio che vede, al via, i piloti ufficiali di tutte le principali Case costruttrici. Il Campione in carica è Marco Ardigò The main non-shifter class is at its last season with the “KF” name: as of 2016, it will be called OK. WSK CHAMPIONS CUP - RD 2 One week later, Lundgaard is the only one who confirms his Champions Cup leadership in the KFJ. In the 60, Mini Hauger collects his first season success. THE KINGS OF THE SUP With all the best drivers of the European scene lined up at the the start, after four fierce and spectatcular rounds on Italy’s most important tracks between March and April, only four names made it to the top and basked in glory. Here they are

12 years old, Norwegian, with the DNA for success. Hauger dominated the WSK Super Master Series, proving that even a 60 Mini driver can be a “professional”. In fact, he conducted the series as only great men and racers do: he won when it mattered, achieved calculated climbs when times got tough and always seemed to be in control. If ths is a preview of what’s to come, Hauger is destined to go far. 12 anni; norvegese; con il DNA da predestinato. Hauger ha dominato la WSK Super Master Series, dimostrando che si può essere dei “professionisti” già nella classe 60 Mini. La sua condotta durante tutta la serie, infatti, è stata davvero “da grande”: vittorie nei momenti chiave, rimonte calcolate per rispondere alle difficoltà e, in generale, la sensazione di avere sempre la situazione sotto controllo. Se le premesse sono queste, la strada di Hauger porterà lontano.
He might not be the most showy of kids, but the fact is that Clement Novalak prevailed over a crowded and fierce KFJ field. And he did so thanks to a perfect performance in the first two rounds (double win in both prefinal and final) and a good “defense” in the next two. It’s not perchance that his 10-point advantage over the runner-up represents the shortest closing gap of the series, all categories considered. He fought for victory until the last meter, but this probably makes his triumph all the sweeter. Forse non è il più appariscente dei piloti, però i fatti dicono che, in una KFJ in cui i pretendenti erano numerosi e agguerriti, Clement Novalak ha prevalso. Lo ha fatto grazie a due primi round perfetti (vittoria in prefinale e finale) e una buona “difesa” in quelli successivi. Non è un caso che i suoi 10 punti di vantaggio sul secondo in classifica siano lo scarto minore tra tutte le classi della Master Series. Una vittoria sudata fino all’ultimo metro, dunque, ma forse proprio per questo ancora più bella.

Quattro round corsi tra marzo e aprile sulle principali piste italiane. Al via, tutti i piloti più forti del circus. Alla fine, l’alloro della vittoria poteva cingere la testa solo di quattro di loro. In queste pagine celebriamo chi, dopo gare combattute e spettacolari, ce l’ha fatta Everyone was waiting to see what Nicklas Nielsen would do this year and wondering if, after his move to Tony Kart, he’d be able to confirm the talent shown more than once in the past. The Dane chose the WSK Master Series to prove his worth and did so with two podum finishes and a 40 point gap going into the last round. In Sarno, Nielsen placed second and third and accomplished his mission: he won the WSK Super Master Series and put all doubts to rest. Era atteso al varco, Nickals Nielsen, perché, vestita la tuta Tony Kart, gli appassionati volevano da lui una conferma del talento fatto intravedere più volte. E il danese ha scelto la WSK Master Series per rispondere “presente”, nonostante a un round dal termine, e con 2 podi nei primi 2 round, fosse lontano 40 punti dalla vetta. Nella gara decisiva, però, un secondo e un terzo posto sono bastati per raggiungere l’obiettivo: vincere la Master Series. E zittire ogni dubbio. Defending KZ World Champion coming into the in the WSK Master Series, Marco Ardigò confirmed he is the top gun of shifter karts. Suffice it to say that over eight races (between prefinals and finals), his worst result was a third place finish: 3 times first, 4 times second and once third. Ardigò’s score sheet once more proves why he has earned his place in the international hall of fame, sanctioning his maturity and constance and proving his ability to remain on top and keep winning against drivers of all generations. Era il campione del mondo in carica della KZ e si è confermato il numero uno del kart a marce nella WSK Master Series. Su 8 gare (tra prefinali e finali) il suo peggior risultato è stato un terzo posto. Serve dire altro? 3 primi posti, 4 secondi e, appunto, un terzo: numeri che sanciscono la maturità e la costanza di rendimento di un pilota ormai entrato nell’olimpo dei più forti di sempre, dimostrando una straordinaria capacità di rimanere al vertice e vincere contro avversari di ogni generazione.

With the 2016 homologation session, the current KF formula will be replaced by the new CIK-FIA sanctioned OK engine concept, fruit of a long process of prototyping and testing Con la sessione di omologa del 2016, la formula KF sarà sostituita dal nuovo concept OK voluto dalla CIK-FIA e frutto di un lungo processo di prototipazione e test Simplification, streamlining, and cost reduction, these are the main goals that led the CIK-FIA to pursue the new OK engine concept. While relying on the work done with the KF, the essential differences introduced in this direction are: 1) elimination of clutch, electric starter, wiring and battery, resulting in lighter weight and greater reliability; 2) return to direct drive in line with the origins of the sport, with addition of a decompression valve on the cylinder head for easier push-start; 3) monotype homologated exhaust and exhaust valve; 4) higher rpm limit: 16000 for the OK class and 15000 for the OK-Junior; 5) lower minimum weight: 145 kg for OK and 140 kg for OK-J. What remains unvaried, instead, is the 125cc engine capacity, the internal balancing system, and the carburetor (butterfly; ø 24 mm for OK and 20 mm for OK-J). Below is the provisional list of companies that will be presenting an OK model at the 2016 homologation session.

Semplificazione, ottimizzazione, riduzione dei costi, sono questi gli obbiettivi che la CIK-FIA ha voluto raggiungere con i nuovi motori OK. Partendo dalla base del KF, le novità introdotte in tal senso sono: 1) eliminazione di frizione, avviamento elettrico, cavi e batteria per un peso ridotto e maggiore affididablità; 2)ritorno alla presa diretta in linea con le origini dello sport, con valvola di decompressione sulla testa del cilindro per facilitare l’avviamento a spinta; 3) scarico e valvola di scarico omologate e monotipo; 4) limite giri motore alzato a 16000 rpm per la OK e a 15000 per la OK-Junior; 5) peso minimo abbassato a 145 kg per la OK e 140 kg per la OK-J. Resta, invece, invariato il volume di 125cc, il sistema di bilanciamento interno e il carburatore (a farfalla; ø 24 mm per OK e 20 mm per OK-J). Sotto, la lista provvisoria delle aziende che presenteranno un modello OK alla sessione di omologa del 2016.
