The Formula Regional European Championship and the Italian Formula 4 Championship powered by Abarth are arriving in Spielberg bei Knittelfeld (Austria), a location where a few days ago the 2019 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix was raced. The two Championships arrive for a very important double event which, on one hand sees the newly started Formula Regional growing rapidly with every race and, on the other hand, confirms with the significant participation numbers the importance of F.4 in the international motorsport panorama. Going back to the Red Bull Ring, it is interesting to note how the last two Austrian GP in 2018 and 2019 have witnessed the victories of the young Max Verstappen. A driver who began to mature as a racer in the kart races signed by the WSK Promotion and who represents those young talents for whom the Formula 4 and the Formula Regional have been designed for. In fact, these two series, strongly desired by FIA and supported with enthusiasm and dedication by ACI Sport are the ideal stages of the growing path towards the world of being a true professional. These victories that the strongest drivers in the world compete in absolutely certify that they made it.

After setting the best times in both qualifying sessions in addition to the second best overall time that will most likely gaurentee him the pole position in the 3rd race, Frederick Vesti (Prema Powerteam) comes in as the favorite at the start of race 1 of the Hungaroring and hits the target in front of teammates Enzo Fittipaldi and Olli Caldwell. The Prema drivers start the race off in the top three boxes positions on the track, as opposed to Schumacher (US Racing) who drops down from fourth to the seventh spot, and Sofia Flörsch (Van Amersfoort Racing) who finds herself on the wrong side of the track on the first turn and ends up being overtaken by Marcos Siebert (US Racing) and Igor Fraga (DR Formula). In the end, the two unfortunate drivers at the start will be the ones generating exitment in an otherwise static race. On the second lap, Schumacher overtakes Flörsch for the sixth position and both form a trio led by Igor Fraga, while Siebert in forth position manages to gain a little time up. On the eleventh lap, Sophia breaks free from her hesitation attempting to pass Schumacher on the first turn, but without success. The Van Amersfoort representative is the author of other courageous manouvers, yet Schumacher is good at defending himself and has also the speed to make Fraga concerned, who still retains his fifth position to the finish line behind Siebert. In the front, Vesti wins by a large gap (and the fastest lap) over Fittipaldi, with Caldwell completing the podium at Prema.

The second race starts with surprises, so to speak, even before the start of the race lights go out, with the unfortunate exit of Igor Fraga (DR Formula) who is forced to park his car on the side of the track due to technical problems with the engine, this leaves the 8th position open empty on the starting line up. Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam) is in the lead, with a very successful timing and acceleration from the pole poistion, while Sophia Flörsch (Van Amersfoort Racing), third on the track between the other two Prema drivers, Olli Caldwell and Enzo Fittipaldi, is unable to avoid the spinning out of her rear wheels. The Brasilian does not hesitate to take advantage of it and exits the first turn in second position, surpassing even Caldwell. Flörsch, fourth at this point, successfully defends herself from David Schumacher (US Racing) who attacks on the second turn, while behind them, Marcos Siebert (US Racing) maintains the sixth spot in front of a competitive Raul Guzman (DR Formula). Alexandre Bardinon now in second place (Van Amersfoort Racing) ends his race after contact with Tom Beckhäuser (Technorace). From here on out it is a battle between Flörsch and Caldwell for fourth place and between Vesti and Fittipaldi for the overall win. Both of these races do not end in brawls between drivers and in the end it is Vesti who is first to cross the finish line, like the 1st race, in front of Fittipaldi and Caldwell.

DR Formula
Race 3 has its share of surprises. At the start Frederik Vesti and Olli Caldwell (Prema Powerteam) do not make any mistakes as they are starting from the front row. Behind them Marcos Siebert (US Racing) starts off even better taking the third position from the other Prema racer Enzo Fittipaldi. The Brasilian must also defend himself from his compatriot Igor Fraga (DR Formula) who in the heat of the competition makes a mistake, in which Raul Guzman (DR Formula) greatly takes advantage of. Going into the first turn of the second lap, Fraga regains his position with an outside passing, similar to the one made on the next turn by David Schumacher (US Racing) against Sophia Flörsch (Van Amersfoort Racing) which gives the German driver the seventh spot. In the following lap, Schumacher gets on the inside of Guzman in the first turn. The two drivers arrive side by side at the second turn and the Mexican forces the German to widen his trajectory, leaving space for Flörsch who is then the protagonist of an intense duel with Guzman. Further ahead, Marcos Siebert who is third at that point, must return to the pit for a technical problem. Fittipaldi is still third at the finish line even after losing his engine cowling. Yet, twists and turns are not yet over and, incredibly, involve also the race leader Vesti: the Prema driver manages to win the third weekend race by a thread in front of Caldwell, after having driven the last turns with a visibly damaged suspension.
25 Alexandre Bardinon
Van Amersfoort Racing
41 Raul Guzman DR Formula
Dietro, scatta ancora meglio Marcos Siebert (US Racing), che soffia la terza posizione all’altro pilota Prema, Enzo Fittipaldi.

A PRINCE AT THE STEERING WHEEL
CONSTANT GROWTH
The logo of the Formula Regional European Championship is blue colored. “Blue” like the blood of Ferdinand Habsburg, the Austrian motor racing driver for Van Amersfoort Racing and son of Karl Von Habsburg, head of the historical royal family of the House of HabsburgLorraine. Yet, what matters the most is that the blood flowing in the veins of Ferdinand is that of a driver capable of being the fastest (1’40.427) in the official tests of that of the F. Regional has carried out at the Hungaroring, a motorsport racetrack in Hungary. Not a random place given that of the noble titles of the young driver, although he is an Austrian citizen, are recognized only in Hungary.
Confirming the positive and constant ferment of the Formula Regional European Championship, a new driver made his debut in Hungary: the Czech Tom Beckhäuser, at the wheel of the single-seater no. 95 of the Italian team Technorace. Remaining on the subject of team changeover it should be mentioned that the French driver, Alexandre Bardinon who previously raced for the Mas du Clos Racing team, is now part of the Van Amersfoort Racing team.

The Hungarian leg of the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth is characterized by an unbelievable heat. The air temperature is 29.1°C, which translates into a literally 49°C boiling asphalt which requires drivers on the track to put forth additional effort, both physically and psychologically. In spite of this, the one who is most capable of dealing with the temperature is the Norwegian Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) the fastest driver on the track since the qualifying trials. It is Dennis Hauger who takes the lead at the start of race 1 and crosses the finish line while still in the lead, achieving an unquestionable victory. The second place goes to Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam) a leader of the general classification and the only driver to run under the 1’45 time, yet never able to get close to Hauger to attempt a passing. Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam) who ran the entire race maintaining the third spot joins the trio on the podium. Two accidents occur which determined the entry of the safety car. In the initial phase of the race Oliver Rasmussen (Prema Powerteam) and Niklas Krütten get into an accident and Krütten is forced to stop. Then it is the turn of Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi Racing) who is forced to abandon the race due to a broken suspension problem. 20 Ivan Berets DRZ Benelli

It is still Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) who wins race 2 which offered some more excitement than the previous one. Already on the first lap, shortly after the start, the red flag waves due to an accident which involves Lorenzo Ferrari (Antonelli Motorsport) causing the race to be suspended and to be restarted. The new start has again Hauger as the driver in the lead. He takes the lead and his advantage grows constantly lap after lap. In Hungary the temperature drops, allowing the winner’s single-seater to significantly improve its performance. The second place goes to Mikhael Belov (Bhaitech) who keeps Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam) first amongst the rookies, behind him. Except for the change in the 4th and 5th positions, 4th (Gianluca Petecof, Prema Powerteam) and 5th (Johnny Edgar, Jenzer Motorsport), the first 8 racers to cross the finish line maintain the positions they had at the start of the race. 17 Jonny Edgar

Another Red Flag happens in race 3 as well. In the front row of the starting grid the pole position held by Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) is quick to defend his spot while Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam) remains at the pole. After a few laps, Axel Gnos (Jenzer Motorsport) is protagonist of an accident which stops the race and forces the drivers to line up again. This time Hauger’s start is not his best, while Petecof is great at taking advantage of it and gets in the lead competing with Mikhael Belov (Bhaitec) and Joshua Dürksen (BWT Mücke Motorsport) who, amongst all, seems to be the most competitive in the initial phase of the race. Unfortunately with the progressing of the race the track starts to get wet due to rain and with these weather conditions Hauger returns in his spot behind Petecof. The two drivers are part of a great race, although the finishing spots remain unchanged. Petecof gets the first position followed by the Norwegian racer. Third place is achieved by the excellent driving of Ido Cohen (Van Amersfoort Racing) followed by Joshua Dürksen (BWT Mücke Motorsport) and his teammate William Alatalo. 12 Filipe Ugran BVM Racing
22 Umberto Laganella Bhaitech
