Two is the quintessential symbol of interpersonal relationships. In fact, a couple is formed by two. There are two parents and, remaining closer to the world of motorsport, two are the drivers who race in Formula 1 for each team. Including this event at the Mugello Circuit, two are also the races to be competed to close the seasons of the Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA and the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth. After the Tuscan weekend, in fact, the moment of the grand finale will arrive for both competitions in the evocative settings of the Monza racetrack. The battle to win the title in the respective championships seems to be, even in this case, a two-people conversation (although mathematics still does not close the door completely to the pursuers). We just have to wait a few weeks to celebrate the new champions, who will be two! With all due respect to those who have always maintained that the perfect number is three.
Due è il simbolo per antonomasia dei rapporti relazionali. In due, infatti, si crea una coppia. Due sono i genitori e, restando più vicini al mondo del motorsport, due sono i piloti che corrono per ogni scuderia in Formula 1. Con questa del Mugello, a due corrispondono anche le gare che mancano per chiudere le stagioni della Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA e dell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth. Dopo il week end toscano, arriverà infatti per entrambe le competizioni il momento del gran finale nella suggestiva cornice dell’autodromo di Monza. La lotta per conquistare il titolo nei rispettivi campionati sembra essere, anche in questo caso, un discorso a due (anche se la matematica ancora non chiude la porta del tutto agli inseguitori). Non ci resta che aspettare qualche settimana per celebrare i nuovi campioni. Che saranno due! Con buona pace di chi sostiene, da sempre, che il numero perfetto sia tre.

The Mugello International Circuit, with its 5.245 meters of track, is one of the preferred tracks in Italy for motor racing and motorcycling competitions. It is formally owned by Scuderia Ferrari, which acquired it in 1988, giving way to a series of improvements which led it to be the amazing structure we know today. An extramotorsport curiosity, the track is also “lent” to cycling (it was the stage of Giro d’Italia in 1977 and 2007), and to foot racing for the Mugello GP Run.

L’Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, con i suoi 5.245 metri di tracciato, è una delle piste di riferimento, in Italia, per le competizioni automobilistiche e motociclistiche. Formalmente è di proprietà della Ferrari, che l’acquistò nel 1988 dando il via a una serie di lavori che l’hanno portato a essere la struttura che oggi conosciamo. Curiosità extra motorsport: la pista viene “prestata” anche al ciclismo (è stata sede di tappa del Giro d’Italia ‘77 e ‘07) e alla corsa a piedi, per la Mugello Gp Run.

2020 FR & F.4 CALENDAR While waiting for the 2019 results, ACI Sport and WSK Promotion are already looking towards the future, by announcing the 2020 official calendar for the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth and for the Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA. The number of rounds is the same of the 2018: 7 for the F.4 and 8 for the F. Regional. Also confirmed is the consolidation of almost all of the races in the same venues and dates in order to facilitate the transfers of the teams is complete. The exceptions are the opening and the closing round of the Formula Regional season, in which the F.4 will not be present. In attesa dei verdetti 2019, la macchina di ACI Sport e WSK Promotion guarda già al futuro ufficializzando i calendari 2020 di Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth e Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA. Confermato il numero dei round: 7 per F.4, 8 per F. Regional. Così come confermato l’accorpamento di quasi tutte le gare nelle stesse sedi e date, in modo da facilitare gli spostamenti dei team. Race 1 of the Catalan weekend of the Formula Regional European Championship begins with the asphalt still wet due to the rain which fell a few hours prior to the race, yet nothing is going to prevent the drivers from starting with slick tires. At the start, the first row consists of Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Powerteam) and Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam), who does not start off well and loses a position. The Brazilian poleman, on the other hand, keeps his concentration until an error in letting off the throttle forces him to surrender the lead (he will finish the race in sixth position) to David Schumacher (US Racing). But the first position is destined to change again, because Vesti finding the right rhythm closes in and passes the German. Despite the entry of the safety car a few laps from the end, Vesti’s determination does not change and he achieves his tenth victory of the season. Behind him, Schumacher is also overtaken by Dan Ticktum (Van Amersfoort Racing), who despite having slipped to the tenth position after the start, is the author of an awesome comeback.

Gara 1 del weekend catalano della Formula Regional European Championship inizia con l’asfalto ancora umido per via della pioggia scesa qualche ora prima, ma nulla che impedisca ai piloti di partire con le gomme slick. Al via, la prima fila è composta da Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Powerteam) e Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam), che non scatta bene e perde una posizione. Il poleman brasiliano, invece, mantiene la testa, almeno fino a quando un errore in staccata lo costringe a cedere la leadership (finirà la gara sesto) a David Schumacher (US Racing). Ma la prima posizione è destinata a cambiare ancora, perché Vesti, trovato il ritmo giusto, torna a farsi sotto e sorpassa il tedesco. Nonostante l’ingresso della safety car a pochi giri dal termine, la testa non cambia più e Vesti ottiene la sua decima vittoria in stagione. Alle sue spalle, Schumacher viene sorpassato anche da Dan Ticktum (Van Amersfoort Racing), scivolato in decima posizione dopo la partenza, ma autore di una gran rimonta.

Race two is characterized by more favorable conditions with a completely dry track. David Schumacher (US Racing) is in the pole position and, at the start, the German driver holds his position and keeps it until the end of the race maintaining a great rhythm, so much that it is also his best lap. The only one to keep in close range to the leader is Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Powerteam), who tries to reduce the gap throughout the race and closes at less than a second from Schumacher. Further back the third in the rankings, Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam), who slipped back by a couple of positions at the start but yet recovered well. The driver who climbs back up even better is Igor Fraga (DR Formula RP Motorsport), who after starting from the tenth spot claims the fourth position at the finish line in front of Dan Ticktum (Van Amersfoort Racing).

Ben più staccato il terzo classificato Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam), scivolato di un paio di posizioni al via e risalito bene. Chi risale ancora meglio è Igor Fraga (DR Formula RP Motorsport), quarto al traguardo davanti a Dan Ticktum (Van Amersfoort Racing) dopo essere partito decimo.

Race 3 replicates the script of the previous race. David Schumacher (US Racing) starts in the pole position, holds the lead for the entire race and wins, even without having the fastest lap, which was done by Matteo Nannini (Corbetta Racing). Yet things are not as simple as they seem, behind Dan Ticktum (Van Amersfoort Racing) has an explosive start, leaves two opponents in the dust and gets behind the German generating a very intense race. Ticktum gets remarkably close to Schumacher on a couple of occasions, attempting some attacks that were unsuccessful, keeping the same two positions until the finish line. Third spot for Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Powerteam), who wins precious points in the overall general standings, especially given the difficulties of the leader Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam), who started third but passed under the checkered flag in the tenth position.

Gara 3 replica il copione della prova precedente: David Schumacher (US Racing) parte in pole, mantiene la prima posizione per tutta la gara e vince, anche se senza giro veloce, segnato da Matteo Nannini (Corbetta Racing). Ma le cose non sono così semplici come sembrano, perché, dietro, Dan Ticktum (Van Amersfoort Racing) è dirompente in avvio, brucia due avversari e si insidia alle spalle del tedesco, instaurando una lotta molto accesa. Ticktum si avvicina notevolmente a Schumacher almeno in un paio di occasioni, tentando degli attacchi che, comunque, non hanno successo: le due posizioni non cambiano fino al traguardo. Terzo è Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Powerteam), che conquista punti preziosi in ottica classifica generale, soprattutto viste le difficoltà del leader Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam), partito terzo ma solo decimo sotto la bandiera a scacchi.

Il weekend di gara di Imola parte nel segno di Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing). Il pilota norvegese vince gara 1, anche se, alle sue spalle, la concorrenza arriva distanziata di poco: il secondo classificato Jonny Edgar (Jenzer Motorsport), infatti, giunge al traguardo con un ritardo di appena 0.279 secondi. A partire in pole position c’era però un altro nome: Roman Stanek (US Racing). Il ceco nei primi giri di gara riesce a mantenere la posizione di testa, ma una disattenzione nella fase finale lo porta prima fuori pista, facendogli perdere la leadership, e poi lo costringe al ritiro a causa del danneggiamento di un braccetto della sospensione anteriore. Tornando alla coppia di testa, i due, beneficiati dall’imprevisto del poleman, dimostrano freddezza e una grande costanza; aspetto, quest’ultimo, che in un campionato combattuto come l’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth diventa un elemento imprescindibile. L’ultimo gradino del podio lo guadagna meritatamente Michael Belov (Bhaitech).

The race weekend at Imola starts with Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing). The Norwegian driver wins race 1, although the competition behind him is very close, with Jonny Edgar (Jenzer Motorsport) reaching the finish line with only 0.279 seconds to spare. However, starting from the pole position was another driver, Roman Stanek (US Racing). The Czech driver manages to maintain the lead position for the first few laps of the race, but a mistake in the final stage brings him off the track, dropping him from the lead position and forcing him to retire due to a damage to a front suspension arm. Hauger and Edgar, benefiting from the unexpected issue of Stanek, demonstrate self-control and great consistency. An element, consistency, which in a championship fought like the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth is of essential importance. Michael Belov (Bhaitech) earns a well-deserved third spot on the podium.

Roman Stanek is the fastest in the second round of qualifications and, as in race 1, he starts in front of everyone. Mindful of the excessive impetus that cost him dearly in the initial race, in the second round of the day he proves to have learned from the past and, with great tactical intelligence, he maintains the first position up to the checkered flag achieving the victory. The race of the Czech driver, however, is not without its pitfalls. Behind him, Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam) and Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) press with determination, ending in this order, all in less of a second from each other. Off the podium, Jonny Edgar (Jenzer Motorsport) crosses the finish line with a bit of disappointment. The British driver who started in the second spot, does not go beyond fifth place, preceded by Michael Belov (Bhaitech), recovering from starting in seventh position and followed by Paul Aron who also slipped from fourth to sixth place.

DR Formula RP Motorsport
Roman Stanek è il più veloce anche nelle seconde qualifiche e, come già in gara 1, parte davanti a tutti. Memore dell’eccesso di impeto che gli è costato caro nella gara iniziale, nella seconda prova di giornata dimostra di aver imparato dal passato e, con grande intelligenza tattica, questa volta mantiene la prima posizione fino alla bandiera a scacchi facendo sua la vittoria. La gara del pilota ceco, però, non è priva di insidie, perché alle sue spalle premono con determinazione Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam) e Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing), che terminano in quest’ordine, tutti racchiusi in meno di un secondo di distacco. Fuori dal podio, chi taglia il traguardo con un pizzico di delusione è Jonny Edgar (Jenzer Motorsport): l’inglese, partito secondo, non va oltre il quinto posto, preceduto da Michael Belov (Bhaitech), risalito dalla settima posizione del via, e seguito da Paul Aron, anche lui scivolato dal quarto posto di partenza al sesto.

Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) asserts himself in a day of grace at Imola and, despite starting from the second row in race 3, he immediately understands that attacking is the best strategy. Thus, in the span of 5 laps he gets into the lead and does not give it up until the checkered flag. Behind the Norwegian racer, who with this weekend’s results also gains the lead in the general overall rankings, close two rookies: the Russian Michael Belov (Bhaitech) and the Czech Roman Stanek (US Racing). The first marks the fastest lap while the second has to deal with some irritation given his start from the pole for the third race out of three. Just off the podium Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam) in the fourth spot, and Jonny Edgar (Jenzer Motorsport) who started from the first row. Outside the points is Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam) who arrived at Imola as leader of the standings and now forced to chase in the last two Championship’s weekends.

Così, nell’arco di 5 giri conquista la leadership e non la molla più fino alla bandiera a scacchi. Dietro al norvegese, che con i risultati di questo weekend guadagna anche la testa della classifica generale, chiudono due rookie: il russo Michael Belov (Bhaitech) e il ceco Roman Stanek (US Racing). Il primo timbra anche il giro più veloce, mentre il secondo mastica un po’ amaro vista la partenza dalla pole (per la terza gara su tre). Appena fuori dal podio Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam), quarto, e Jonny Edgar (Jenzer Motorsport), partito dalla prima fila. Fuori dalla zona punti Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam), arrivato a Imola da leader di classifica e ora costretto a inseguire negli ultimi due weekend di campionato.

At Imola race 3 of Misano, cancelled due to bad weather last May, is recovered. The starting grid sees Oliver Rasmussen (Prema Powerteam) and Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) in the first row, followed by Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam) and Roee Meyuhas (Cram Motorsport). An accident involving Ido Cohen (Van Amersfoort Racing) forces him to retire from the competition and requires the entry of the safety car. At the re-start, confusion reigns in the core group. In the front Rasmussen tries his best to defend the first position, regaining it in a few laps, yet Hauger and then Aron prove to be faster and they pass him. Once in the lead, the Norwegian driver takes off and goes on to win his third race of the four races over the weekend. Behind, Petecof tries all he can to conquer the third spot, succeeding with an overtaking of Rasmussen right in the last lap. Beautiful is the dedication of the winner to Anthoine Hubert, the French driver who died during the Formula 2 race at Spa.

A Imola si recupera gara 3 annullata per maltempo lo scorso mese di maggio a Misano. La griglia di partenza vede Oliver Rasmussen (Prema Powerteam) e Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) in prima fila, seguiti da Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam) e Roee Meyuhas (Cram Motorsport). Subito, un incidente che coinvolge Ido Cohen (Van Amersfoort Racing), costretto al ritiro, richiede l’ingresso della safety car. Alla ripartenza regna la confusione. Davanti, Rasmussen prova in ogni modo a difendere la prima posizione, riconquistandola per qualche giro dopo averla persa, ma prima Hauger e poi Aron dimostrano di essere piÚ veloci e lo passano. Una volta in testa il pilota norvegese prende il largo e va a vincere con distacco la sua terza gara sulle quattro disputate nel weekend. Dietro, Petecof prova in ogni modo a fare sua la terza posizione, riuscendoci con un sorpasso esterno ai danni di Rasmussen proprio durante l’ultimo giro. Bella la dedica del vincitore ad Anthoine Hubert, il pilota francese morto durante la gara di Formula 2 a Spa.

STANDINGS FR / CHAMPIONSHIP The drivers’ general standings sees Vesti in the lead with 347 points, followed by Fittipaldi who inched his way back by 2 points and is now 73 lengths off with 274 points. Schumacher moves back to the third position at 222 points after his excellent performance in Spain. Vesti è sempre leader con 347 punti. Fittipaldi rosicchia 2 punti ed è ora staccato di 73 lunghezze. Risale in terza posizione Schumacher dopo l’ottima prestazione spagnola.
