EDITORIAL EDITORIALE by Luca De Donno

Not even the time to start… and we are already seeing the final line. Never like this year the season of the WSK Super Master Series seems to have gone by so fast offering, once more, an awesome show, a very large participation and… a snowfall as well, which we are not going to easily forget. In regard to the drivers, just one last effort remains: the decisive one, to obtain the most prestigious result. Then it will be time to celebrate and focus right away on the next races. Because WSK certainly does not stop, with new competitions and “classic” appointments already visible in the horizon. Time will fly by and, very soon, we will meet here again to experience amazing karting days. Always with the same enthusiasm, as if it were the very first time.

Nemmeno il tempo di cominciare... e già siamo in vista del traguardo finale. Mai come quest’anno la stagione della WSK Super Master Series sembra essere volata via veloce, regalando, ancora un volta, grande spettacolo, una numerosissima partecipazione e... anche una nevicata che difficilmente dimenticheremo. Ora, per i piloti, non rimane che un ultimo sforzo: quello decisivo per inseguire il risultato più prestigioso. Poi sarà tempo di festeggiare e, subito, guardare alle prossime gare. Perché la WSK certo non si ferma, con nuove gare e appuntamenti “classici” che già si affacciano all’orizzonte. Passerà velocemente il tempo e, tra non molto, ci ritroveremo ancora qui, a vivere grande giornate di karting. Sempre con lo stesso entusiasmo, come fosse la prima volta.

Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart - Vortex) wins the race after dominating the weekend. Finishing behind him is the impressive Giuseppe Palomba (Intrepid - TM Racing) who halfway through the race and with excellent pace, slots himself into second behind the winner and stays there right up until the end of the race. A bitter end for Francesco Iacovacci (Luxor - LKE), who was comfortably in third position right up to 2 laps from the end - after passing his teammate Paolo Ippolito (Lenzokart - LKE) who would ultimately finish 6th - at the end of the race he is forced to retire with a technical issue. Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart - Vortex) taking full advantage an excellent comeback for the Finn after he started from 16th on the grid. An incident at the second corner of the opening lap immediately put Benjamin Tornqvist (CRG - TM Racing) out of contention, after he started from 4th, Joshua Fife (Energy - TM Racing) and Matteo Viganò (Tony Kart - Vortex). Tom Leuillet (Sodikart - TM Racing) and Bas Lammers (Lion Kart - TM Racing) both drove excellent races to finish just off the podium, while Alex Irlando (Sodikart - TM Racing) recorded the fastest lap of the race.

Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart - Vortex) vince una gara vissuta al vertice per tutto il weekend. Alle sue spalle chiude un sorprendente Giuseppe Palomba (Intrepid - TM Racing) che a metà gara, con un ottimo ritmo, si piazza alle spalle del vincitore e lì rimane fino al termine. Finale amaro per Francesco Iacovacci (Luxor - LKE), saldamente in terza posizione fino a 2 giri dal termine - dopo aver superato il proprio compagno di squadra Paolo Ippolito (Lenzokart - LKE) che chiude 6° - sul finire è costretto a ritirarsi per un problema tecnico. Ne approfitta Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart - Vortex) che mette a segno un’ottima rimonta: partiva dalla 16^ posizione. Da segnalare che un incidente alla seconda curva del primo giro mette subito fuori gioco Benjamin Tornqvist (CRG - TM Racing), che partiva dalla 4^ posizione, Joshua Fife (Energy TM Racing) e Matteo Viganò (Tony Kart - Vortex). Bravi Tom Luillet (Sodikart - TM Racing) e Bas Lammes (Lion Kart - TM Racing) a confermarsi al vertice anche in questa gara. Miglior giro della finale per Alex Irlando (Sodikart – TM Racing).

It took just a couple of laps for Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart Vortex) to take the lead of the race and from there he was uncatchable. Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG - TM Racing) finishes behind him, in a race that for him is an incredible result: starting last in the pre-final, he recovers to start 18th in the final. In 17 laps he drives a pefect race and finishes just 2 seconds behind the winner. Behind him another driver who mastered an excellent comeback, Hannes Janker (KR - Parilla): the German started from 12th position and driving an excellent pace - he also recorded the fastest lap of the race - managed to get himself up onto the podium. Callum Bradshaw (CRG - TM Racing) is the loser in this battle who right up until a few laps from the end, was second but ultimately finishes in 4th place. A decisive result for three drivers who looked to be contenders for the win before the start given the performances during the heats: Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR - Parilla), Dexter Patterson (Exprit - TM Racing) and Jonny Edgar (Exprit - TM Racing) finishing with results of 5th, DNF and 7th respectively.

Bastano un paio di giri a Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart - Vortex) per prendersi la testa della corsa e non abbandonarla più. Alle sue spalle arriva Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG - TM Racing), dopo una gara che ha dell’incredibile: partito ultimo in prefinale, recupera fino a partire 18° in finale. In 17 giri mette a segno una gara perfetta e chiude ad appena 2 secondi dal vincitore. Alle sue spalle un altro pilota capace di un’ottima rimonta, Hannes Janker (KR - Parilla): il tedesco partiva dalla 12^ posizione e con un ottimo passo - suo anche il giro veloce della gara - riesce a salire sul podio. A rimetterci è Callum Bradshaw (CRG TM Racing) che fino a pochi giri dal termine era secondo e che finisce 4°. Finale complicata per tre piloti che sembravano potersi giocare la vittoria, viste le performance [ OK ] RANKING nelle manche: P. In the final, the two main contenders (who are also fighting for the championship) are almost immediately out of contention. Kirill Smal (Tony Kart - Vortex) and Hadrien David (Kosmic - Vortex) make contact on the 2nd lap and lose a pile of positions. Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG - TM Racing) leads for the first three laps (remembering he also took pole in qualifying), up until the point when Gabriele Minì (Parolin - Parilla) overtakes him and goes on to take victory. From the moment he took the lead, he was unchallenged to the chequered flag. The Brazilian is also passed by Zak O’Sullivan (FA Kart Vortex) and Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart - Vortex). Two laps from the end Maya Weug (Luxor - LKE), who drove an excellent race, passes O’Sullivan who slips back to 4th. Weug, however, is passed herself by Evann Mallet (Kosmic - Parilla), Bortoleto and then O’Sullivan who finished the race in this order behind the winner Minì. Also worth noting is the excellent comeback of Francesco Pizzi (Birel Art - TM Racing), from 18th to 7th, and also Evann Mallet recording the fastest lap of the final.

In finale due protagonisti (in lotta anche per il campionato) escono subito di scena. Kirill Smal (Tony Kart - Vortex) e David Hadrien (Kosmic Vortex) al 2° giro entrano in contatto e perdono posizioni. Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG - TM Racing) si tiene stretta la prima posizione per tre giri (sua era anche la pole nelle qualifiche), ovvero fino a quando Gabriele Minì (Parolin - Parilla) lo supera e si invola verso la vittoria. Nessuno da quel momento riesce più a impensierirlo. Il brasiliano viene superato anche da Zak O’ Sullivan (FA Kart - Vortex) e Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart - Vortex). A due giri dal termine Maya Weug (Luxor - LKE), autrice di un’ottima gara, supera O’ Sullivan che scivola 4°. La Weug viene però superata a sua volta da Evann Mallet (Kosmic - Parilla), Bortoleto [ OKJ ] RANKING e O’ Sullivan che P. The 60cc Mini race is decided on the very last lap, when Andrea Antonelli (Energy - TM Racing) is passed by Martinius Stenshorne (Parolin - TM Racing). The Italian tries to return fire, but instead makes contact with Stenshorne who goes off the track and ultimately finishes in 7th place. Antonelli continues on and finishes 3rd, behind Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (Parolin - TM Racing) who wins ahead of a quick and intelligent drive by Karol Pasiewcz (Energy - TM Racing). Also worth pointing out is Kucharczyk’s lap in Friday qualifying was the best overall giving him pole position for the heats. Getting back to the final, Antonelli is subsequently penalized 5 seconds for contact with the Norwegian and is therefore ultimately classified in 9th position. Alexandru Iancu (Maranello - TM Racing) is therefore awarded 3rd place on the podium which is some reward for leading the early part of the final. The fight for the championship remains as open as ever.

La gara si decide all’ultimo giro, quando Andrea Antonelli (Energy - TM Racing) viene superato da Martinius Stenshorne (Parolin - TM Racing). L’italiano prova a replicare al sorpasso, ma urta Sternshorne che finisce fuori pista e chiuderà la gara 7°. Antonelli prosegue e chiude 3°, alle spalle di Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (Parolin - TM Racing) che vince davanti a uno scaltro e veloce Karol Pasiewcz (Energy - TM Racing). Va sottolineato che Kucharczyk, nella giornata di venerdì, era stato anche autore della pole position nelle prove di qualificazione. After his win last week, Marco Ardigò now leaps into the lead of the series, aided by the absence of De Conto at last weekend’s race here at Sarno. Ardigò now leads by 77 points. Although the title is not yet decided, there is now definitely a ‘man to beat’ for the title. Balzo in classifica poderoso quello di Marco Ardigò che, complice l’assenza di De Conto a Sarno, guadagna la testa della classifica con un margine di 77 punti. Nulla è ancora deciso, ma la corsa verso il titolo ha, ora, un “uomo da battere” ben definito.

Piccola rivoluzione in vetta alla classifica dopo le gare di Sarno: Nielsen conduce, Edgar e Janker inseguono appaiati. Travisanutto e Hiltbrand risalgono e, seppur un pò più distanti, non sono ancora tagliati fuori da una lotta che si preannuncia apertissima fino all’ultimo.
