WSK. La Conca. Champions Cup. You think you’ve you heard these words in this order before? You have, indeed; because nowadays this is how the elite international karting scene kicks off the new year. And 2015 lives up to expectations, taking the WSK show back “home” to the famed Muro Leccese track that has been stage to so many memorable races over these intense years of operations. So, once again the season opens with the words: WSK, La Conca, Champions Cup. We’d like to add “enthusiasm” to the list, an ingredient that kart lovers always find when they are at the onset of a new trip that will thrill them every step of the way. So, may speed and adrenaline reign once more over the tracks of the whole world.
WSK. La Conca. Champions Cup. Vi pare di aver già sentito queste parole in serie? Nulla di più facile, perché, ormai, il karting internazionale che conta comincia proprio da qui. E il 2015 non disillude le attese, riportando il circus della WSK a “casa”, in quella Muro Leccese teatro di tante, memorabili, gare nel corso di questi intensi anni di attività. Quindi, ancora una volta, le parole di inizio stagione sono: WSK, La Conca, Champions Cup. A cui aggiungiamo “entusiasmo”, ovvero l’ingrediente che non manca mai, a chi ama veramente questo sport, quando si trova al principio di un percorso che si snoderà attraverso tante sfide tutte da vivere. Per portare, ancora una volta, la velocità e l’adrenalina del grande karting su tutte le piste del mondo.

WSK PROMOTION 10 YEARS ON TRACK
With the 2015 Champions Cup, WSK Promotion enters its tenth year of operations on track. Hopefully, this decade will be the first of many. The desire to grow and amaze is just the next objective La WSK Promotion con la Champions Cup 2015 inizia il decimo anno di presenza in pista. Una decade che vuole solo essere solo la prima. La voglia di crescere ancora e stupire è, infatti, solo il prossimo obiettivo
The first WSK is unforgettable. It was the 5th of February 2006 and the La Conca Circuit in Muro Leccese staged the first edition of the WSK International Series. Many of the drivers who competed that day are still racing now. Some names? Felice Tiene, Jonathan Thonon and Alessandro Bressan. There were also others who then went on to Formula 1, like Valtteri Bottas and Jules Bianchi (to whom we wish the best). Since that fateful February day, the organization founded and managed by Luca De Donno has come a long way. In fact, 2015 marks 10 years of events, races, and thrills tied to this fantastic motorsport. WSK has grown so much in this decade – first of all in sporting terms, with a rising number of championships; but not only. Improvement has always been the key word on the organizational plane, too. The letters WSK now also stand for a magazine, an app, TV in streaming, live coverage on Rai Sport, prizes, awards and even the new involvement with single-seaters through the first edition of the Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth. It feels like it was just yesterday that WSK was taking its first steps of a seemingly impossible adventure. Instead, here we are today and tomorrow is right behind the corner.

La prima WSK non si scorda mai. Era il 5 febbraio 2006 e al circuito de La Conca di Muro Leccese andava di scena la prima edizione della WSK International Series. In quella competizione tanti piloti che corrono nel karting internazionale ancora oggi. Qualche nome? Felice Tiene, Jonathan Thonon e Alessandro Bressan. Ma anche nomi che poi sono finiti in Formula 1 come Valtteri Bottas e Jules Bianchi (approfittiamo per fare i nostri più sinceri auguri al francese). Oggi, da quel giorno di febbraio, di strada questa realtà, ideata e gestita da Luca De Donno, ne ha fatta. Il 2015, infatti, rappresenta i 10 anni di eventi, di gare e di emozioni legate a questo fantastico motorsport. La crescita è stata notevole e non solo dal punto di vista sportivo, con un numero di competizioni sempre maggiore. Anche dal punto di vista organizzativo, infatti, l’obiettivo è stato sempre quello di cercare di fare di meglio. È nato un magazine, un’app, lo streaming tv, le dirette Rai Sport, premi, riconoscimenti e si è perfino provata l’avventura delle monoposto, attraverso la bellissima prima edizione dell’Italian F4 Championship by Abarth. Sembra ieri che la WSK muoveva i primi passi in quella che poteva apparire un’avventura impossibile. Invece è oggi e il domani è solamente dietro l’angolo.

The WSK Champions Cup is the series that kicks off the 2015 season: two back-to-back events on the weekends of February 1 and February 8 at the La Conca International Circuit in Muro Leccese. La WSK Champions Cup è la serie che dà il via al calendario 2015. Due appuntamenti ravvicinati in programma nei week end consecutivi del 1 e del 8 febbraio. Il circuito è quello internazionale de La Conca a Muro Leccese.
One of the great news of the season, this one-shot event for Mini, KFJ, KF and KZ2 drivers will take place on March 1st at the new Adria kart track. Una delle grandi novità di questa stagione. Nel week end del 1 marzo, nel nuovissimo circuito di Adria, una competizione in gara unica aperta alle categorie Mini, KFJ, KF, KZ2.

As last year, WSK Promotion will organize the 2015 CIK-FIA Europeans: 6 events with alternate categories (3 for KF/KFJ, 3 for KZ/ KZ2/ACADEMY) between April and July. Come l’anno scorso, sarà WSK Promotion ad organizzare gli Europei CIK-FIA 2015: 6 round ravvicinati a categorie alterne (3 prove per KF/KFJ, 3 per KZ/KZ2/ACADEMY) tra aprile e luglio.

The 2015 calendar again includes the singleseater series certified by FIA to train racing talents fresh out of the karting ranks. It runs on 7 rounds, like last year, and starts on May 3. The key moment of the year is the World Championship on a single match. The dates on calendar are September 13 for the KZ and September 27 for KF and KFJ. Clou della stagione 2015, i Mondiali CIK-FIA su round singolo. Le date a calendario sono il 13 settembre per la KZ e il 27 settembre per KF e KFJ.
Anche per il 2015 torna la serie monoposto, voluta dalla FIA, per addestrare i piloti provenienti dal karting. Partirà il 3 maggio 2015 e, come nell’edizione precedente, si disputerà attraverso 7 appuntamenti.
On July 1st the Adria track will inaugurate another new WSK race, the Night Edition: a one-off night challenge. In 2015 the WSK Super Master Series runs on four rounds rather than three. It starts on March 5 in Adria, then continues on March 19 in Castelletto di Branduzzo and on April 9 in Muro Leccese. The final round that decides the winners is set for April 23 in Sarno.

From the familiar context of the La Conca Circuit in Muro Leccese to the new bends of the Adria Karting Raceway: the WSK season will unfold along the coordinates that connect one to the other. In between, the karting scene will also battle on the famed pavement of the 7 Laghi Track and the Napoli International Circuit. Yet, the Adria venue is the true star of the season: it is the latest entry in the roster of top kart tracks, but WSK already chose it as the stage of four different events in 2015 Dalla familiare La Conca di Muro Leccese, alla novità dell’Adria Karting Raceway. The Master Series kicks off, but the WSK show remains on the same circuit as the previous event, which many drivers will already be comfortable with. Adria’s 1300 meters will start to look familiar.
This round marks the traditional season stop in the northern venue that every year hosts at least one WSK event. The challenging hairpins shaping the 1256 meter track are the most enticing element for drivers.

The third round of the Master Series takes everyone back to where the season kicked off. Usually, by early April the sun is already shining over Muro Leccese and the temperatures are ideal for breathtaking duels.
Another “steady” name on the WSK calendar, the Sarno circuit is the final stage of the 2015 Master Series. 1699 meters long, this prestigious track is at the regulatory limit for international karting raceways.

absolute star of the gala evening. The 2014 KFJ European and World Champion has now added the prestigious WSK Driver of the Year and WSK Talent Driver awards to his trophy case. È stato senza dubbio il pilota inglese della Ricky Flynn Motorsport il protagonista della serata di gala. Campione Europeo e Campione del Mondo della KFJ nel 2014, Ahmed ha ora aggiunto alla sua straordinaria bacheca anche i prestigiosi riconoscimenti di WSK Driver of the Year e WSK Talent Driver.

WSK Along with Enaam Ahmed, the evening also honored the top three of each 2014 WSK competition and their racing teams. The Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth was also widely celebrated. Last, but not least, the evening impressed for its classy audience.

YESTERDAY’S TALEN WSK launched the Driver of the Year award in 2011 and then introduced the Talent Driver in 2013. Besides Enaam Ahmed, who won both prizes for 2014, the history of the two acknowledgments includes four other winners. Let’s remember who they are and see what they are doing today.
NYCK DE VRIES
He was the first ever winner of the Driver of the Year award, back in 2011. That year Nyck won the World Championship for the second time in a row, defending his 2010 title. Born on the 6th of February of 1995, the Dutch talent today races in Formula Renault and belongs to the McLaren Young Driver Programme. Last year he won the F.Renault Eurocup and 2.0 Alps series. In 2015 he will participate to the Formula Renault 3.5 World Series with France’s DAMS team. È stato il primo pilota della storia a vincere il Driver of the Year, correva l’anno 2011 e, riconquistando il titolo mondiale già vinto nel 2010, trionfò. L’olandese, nato il 6 febbraio 1995, oggi corre in Formula Renault e fa parte del McLaren Young Driver Programme. Nel 2014 ha vinto la F. Renault Eurocup e la serie 2.0 Alps. Quest’anno sarà in Formula Renault 3.5 World Series con il team francese DAMS.

Last year the English teen, class of ‘98, graduated as KF European Champion and triumphed in the Super Master Series. Competitive all year, he also debuted in KZ. In short, he had an excellent season; perhaps even better than in 2011, when he received the Driver of the Year award for winning the WSK Master Series and Final Cup in KF3. Will we see him on karts again in 2015? Almost impossible. His future belongs in F3. L’anno scorso l’inglese, classe ‘98, si è laureato Campione Europeo della KF e ha trionfato nella Super Master Series. Molto competivo tutta la stagione, ha anche esordito in KZ. Insomma, un’ottima stagione. Forse ancor meglio del 2011, quando ricevette il Driver of the Year per aver vinto la WSK Master Series e la Final Cup in KF3. Lo rivedremo ancora nel karting nel 2015? Quasi impossibile. Il suo futuro sarà in F3.

MAX VERSTAPPEN
Born in September of ‘97, the Dutch ace was crowned Driver of the Year in 2013, thanks to his world victory in KZ and his double European title (KF and KZ). After that, he barely had the time to debut and do well in F3 and here we are. In 2015 he will race in Formula 1, at the wheel of a Toro Rosso. He set the record as the youngest driver (17 years and 3 days) to enter the top class of car racing (friday free practice at the 2014 Japan GP). Nato nel settembre del ‘97, nel 2013 l’olandese si affermò come Driver of the Year, grazie alla vittoria mondiale in KZ e al doppio titolo europeo (KF e KZ) . Il tempo di approdare e fare bene in F3 ed ecco che nel 2015 lo troveremo in Formula 1, al volante di una Toro Rosso. Appartiene a lui il record di pilota più giovane (17 anni e 3 giorni) a entrare nella massima categoria automobilistica (prove libere del venerdì del GP di Giappone 2014).
DORIAN BOCCOLACCI The French racer won the first ever Talent Driver award in 2013, when he stood out for his driving skills and won both the Euro Series and the Master Series in KF. In 2014 he raced in the F4 French championship and closed second. Today Dorian is sixteen years old (he was born on 9 September of ‘98) and belongs to the Lotus Junior program. This year he will debut in F3 with the Signature team. Il francese è stato il primo vincitore del premio Talent Driver nel 2013, anno in cui mostrò grande capacità di guida e vinse l’Euro Series e la Master Series nella categoria KF. Nel 2014 ha corso nel campionato francese di F4, chiudendo secondo. Oggi Dorian ha sedici anni (è nato il 9 settembre del ‘98), fa parte del programma Lotus Junior ed è pronto al grande debutto in F3 con il team Signature.

REGULATION
RULES AND POINTS
1. MATERIAL
In each event, every driver may use a maximum of two chassis of the same brand, as declared at the time of entry and in compliance with CIKFIA Technical Regulations for KF, KF Junior and KZ2 or with the national CSAI Technical Regulations for the 60 Mini. All material will be identified during inspections by the Technical Commissioner. Each driver may also use up to two engines. Like the chassis, both have to be of the model/ brand declared at the time of entry and must be compliant with pertaining regulations. Each competitor is allowed to use up to 10 tires in each round (official qualifying practice, eliminatory heats, Prefinal and Final). Fuel (Kart RON102) will be distributed directly on track by the producer, PANTA SPA, in 25 liter tanks.
Per ogni prova i conduttori possono disporre massimo di due telai della stessa marca dichiarata dai concorrenti in sede di iscrizione e conformi al Regolamento Tecnico CIK-FIA per la KF, KF Junior, KZ2 e conformi al Regolamento Tecnico Nazionale CSAI per la 60 Mini. Il materiale sarà identificato durante le verifiche dal Commissario Tecnico. Due i motori disponibili che, come per i telai, devono essere della marca dichiarata in sede di iscrizione e conformi ai regolamenti pertinenti. Ad ogni partecipante sono concessi 10 pneumatici in ogni round (prove ufficiali di qualifica, manche eliminatorie, Prefinale e Finale). La benzina (KART RON102) sarà distribuita direttamente in pista dalla società PANTA SPA con fustini da 25 litri.

The 2015 WSK CHAMPIONS CUP runs as an international series for the KZ2, KF and KF Junior categories. Instead, for the 60 Mini it runs as a national series open to foreign drivers with international license.

3. BRIEFING All drivers and entrants are required to participate to the briefing prior each race event: failure to do so will result in payment of a fine. Tutti i piloti e i concorrenti devono prendere parte ai briefing obbligatoriamente: in caso di assenza dovranno pagare una penale.
4. COMPLAINTS Complaints must be submitted in written form to the Race Director or a substitute official, immediately following the posting of results: within 10 minutes in the case of practice, heats, or repechage and within 30 minutes in the case of Prefinals and Finals. I reclami vanno presentati in forma scritta al Direttore di Gara o a un suo aggiunto, immediatamente dopo l’affissione dei risultati: entro 10 minuti nel caso di prove, manche di qualifica, o ripescaggio ed entro 30 minuti nel caso di Prefinali e Finali.
5. POINT SYSTEM Point assignment is a necessary item to consider, since the series is on two rounds. The maximum point tally that the best driver may reach is of 50 points in the first round and 60 points in the second and last round (see the chart to the left). The WSK Champions Cup will thus be awarded to the driver who accumulates the most points over both rounds. In case of an even point situation at the end of the series, the deciding factor will be who did best across the two FINALS. In case the even point situation persists, what will be taken into account are the results achieved in the two PREFINALS. Essendo questa competizione disputata su due gare è doveroso considerare l’assegnazione dei punti. Il massimo disponibile è di 50 punti nel primo round e di 60 punti nel secondo e decisivo round (vedi la tabella a sinistra). La WSK Champions Cup, quindi, andrà al pilota che totalizzerà più punti sulle due gare. Nell’evenutalità che la situazione exaequeo dovesse persistere, si andranno a valutare i migliori piazzamenti nelle due PREFINALI.

The Italian factory based in Saronno (VA) will cover every category on field in WSK races: the international KZ2, KF and KF Junior classes and the Italian 60 Mini.
