The greatest baseball player of all times always stepped in the “diamond” with this spirit. That’s why he was the greatest! His greatness didn’t come from the off-field pitches, the home runs, the title victories and the money he made, but from the fact that he hit every ball like it was the first of his career, or maybe the last and most important one. Well, this is the kind of attitude that we hope to see on track today at the WSK Final Cup - especially since we are on a brand new circuit that was born from the deep passion of someone who thinks that every driver should tackle each corner as if it were the first or the last of his career. Here in Adria, drivers will really be facing bends for the first time, but will do so with the same passion, competitive spirit, and adrenaline that always fuel them on their hunt for victory - always, in every race, on every curve, on every track, as if it were the first time.

Il più grande giocatore di baseball di tutti i tempi, ogni volta che metteva piede sul “diamante” di gioco, lo faceva con questo spirito. Per questo è stato il più grande! Non per i fuori campo, i punti battuti a casa, i titoli vinti e i soldi guadagnati, ma perché colpiva ogni pallina come se fosse la prima della sua carriera o, forse, l’ultima e la più importante. Bene. Oggi, alla WSK Final Cup, è questo lo spirito che ci piace dimostrare - a maggior ragione perché ci troviamo su un circuito nuovissimo e nato proprio dalla grande passione di chi pensa che ogni curva vada affrontata come se fosse la prima, o l’ultima, della propria carriera. Qui, ad Adria, le curve saranno davvero nuove per tutti, ma le affronteranno con la passione, l’agonismo e l’adrenalina di sempre, da gettare in pista a piene mani ogni volta che si corre in kart, inseguendo il sogno della vittoria. In ogni singola gara. Ad ogni singola curva. Su ogni singola pista. Sempre come se fosse la prima volta.

CARS & KARTS: TOG This weekend could make motorsport history, especially in Italy. The decision, in fact, was to structure the Adria event as a double challenge: on one hand, Formula 4 cars competing for the Winter Trophy; on the other, karts vying for the WSK Final Cup, the last major title of the 2014 international season. The event marks a debut that will long be talked about, that of the Adria kartdrome, born from the collaboration between Mario Altoè, onwer of the already existing Adria raceway, and WSK Promotion’s Luca De Donno. The two probably wanted to help cut the gap between young karting talents and the rising stars of open-wheel racing. And what better way to do so than building a new kart track in the same complex as a prestigious car circuit? Said, done - the ambitious idea is now reality. Besides marking the inauguration of the new kartdrome with the WSK Final Cup (the last event of the international karting season), the Adria weekend also features Formula 4 cars front and center of a brand new one-off challenge called Winter Trophy.

Il week end segna un debutto che, sicuramente, farà parlare a lungo, quello del kartodromo di Adria, nato dalla collaborazione tra Mario Altoè, proprietario dell’omonimo e vicinissimo autodromo, e Luca De Donno di WSK Promotion. I due, probabilmente, volevano cercare di accorciare ancor di più la distanza tra i giovani talenti del karting e gli astri nascenti delle monoposto. Quale strada migliore, allora, se non quella di dare vita ad un nuovo tracciato accanto alla rinomata pista racing? Detto, fatto: la trovata geniale è diventata realtà. Questo week end, però, non rappresenta solo l’esordio del nuovo kartodromo come palcoscenico per la WSK Final Cup (l’ultimo evento della stagione internazionale). Ad Adria saranno protagoniste anche le monoposto della Formula 4, che gareggieranno nell’inedita sfida su gara unica denominata Winter Trophy.

Questo weekend potrebbe passare alla storia del motorsport, soprattutto in Italia. Per l’appuntamento ad Adria si è deciso, infatti, di creare una doppia sfida: da un lato le auto della Formula 4 in contesa per il Winter Trophy, dall’altro i go-kart a darsi battaglia per la WSK Final Cup, l’ultimo grande titolo della stagione internazionale 2014. The Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth 2014 that wrapped up in Imola on October 12th has gone beyond all expectations, offering us a first edition packed with surprises. The new category was created to help young drivers take a first step from the world of karting into that of car racing. The successful result has been in plain sight: tons of enthusiasm, superior quality, and top-notch professionalism. In short, it’s been a fantastic year zero. This is why organizers decided to offer a special final event at the Adria International Raceway complex. The Winter Trophy 2014 may be a “surprise” event, but it follows the same mission: to steer the aspiring drivers of tomorrow into today’s fantastic world of motorsport. Karts and formula cars will be closer than ever this wekeend, where the gap comes down to just a few meters.

L’Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth 2014 si è conclusa ad Imola il 12 ottobre al di sopra di ogni aspettativa, regalandoci una prima edizione ricca di sorprese. La nuova categoria è nata per aiutare i giovani piloti, che vogliono andare oltre il mondo del karting, e fare un primo passo in quello delle auto. Il risultato vincente è stato sotto gli occhi di tutti: tanto entusiasmo, massima qualità e professionalità dirompente. Insomma, un anno zero che ha funzionato alla grande. Proprio per questo si è deciso di organizzare uno speciale evento finale nell’Autodromo di Adria. Il Winter Trophy 2014 sarà pure una sfida “fuori programma”, ma la mission è quella di sempre: trainare gli aspiranti piloti di domani nel fantastico mondo del motorsport di oggi. SIZE The track features concrete escape routes (Le Castellet style, so you get the idea). It reaches up to 10 meters in width and is 1302 meters long.

La pista Adria Karting apre finalmente le porte in occasione della WSK Final Cup 2014. La nascita di questo circuito segna la vittoria di una bella scommessa, quella di dare al karting internazionale un nuovo palcoscenico. Il suo aspetto più affascinante è la location: la pista sorge all’interno del complesso dell’Adria International Raceway.

THE BRIDGE The track features a bridge across the main straight, close to the finish-line. This is where the race director operates during events. The new kart venue is also equipped with poles for a state of the art lighting system, which suggest that it will also host night events. IL PONTE Il circuito presenta un ponte a metà rettilineo, in prossimità del traguardo: è qui che si trova la postazione al coperto del direttore di gara. La struttura è anche dotata di pali per un sofisticato impianto di illuminazione che lasciano presagire la volontà di sfruttarla per gare in notturna.

COSTS It took about 1,200,000 euro to bring the new venue to light, complete of track, building, and infrastructures. For the future, the goal is to keep growing, offering English language courses and test areas. In fact, Adria aims to become a real “campus” to train and raise new talents. COSTI L’investimento per far sorgere la nuova pista - completa di tracciato, palazzina adiacente e infrastrutture - è stato di circa 1.200.000 euro. In futuro si continuerà a crescere, con corsi d’inglese e aree test. Insomma, Adria vuole diventare un “campus” per allenare e coltivare talenti.

Adria is the only venue in the world that offers a covered paddock protected from the elements. The structure covers a surface of 8,000 m². It is made of steel and is built as a single nave with a 50 meter arch.

The WSK Final Cup turns four. The 2014 edition is the fourth run of the one-off challenge that over the years has become the best end-of-season event ever. Here we review the previous editions, remembering all the class winners and the hosting venues. La WSK Final Cup cala il poker. Quella del 2014 è, infatti, la quarta edizione di un trofeo che negli anni è diventato l’appuntamento migliore per chiudere la stagione internazionale. Ripercorriamo le edizioni precedenti vedendo i vincitori e i tracciati che la ospitarono.

2011 The WSK Final Cup has a thrilling start. The first edition hits the stage with a grand total of 180 entries across 5 categories: KZ1, KZ2, KF2, KF3, 60 Mini. The debut venue is the Circuito Internazionale d’Abruzzo in Ortona, Italy. The champions are Dennis Olsen (KF2), Nicklas Nielsen (KF3), Mirko Torsellini (KZ2), Bas Lammers (KZ1) and Lorenzo Travisanutto (60 Mini). Except for Olsen, today in Formula Renault, the others are still active in karting. 2011 La WSK Final Cup inizia in modo entusiasmante. La prima edizione va in scena con ben 180 iscritti su 5 categorie: KZ1, KZ2, KF2, KF3, 60 Mini. Il tracciato del debutto è il Circuito Internazionale d’Abruzzo ad Ortona (CH). I campioni risultano Dennis Olsen (KF2), Nicklas Nielsen (KF3), Mirko Torsellini (KZ2), Bas Lammers (KZ1) e Lorenzo Travisanutto (60 Mini). Tranne il norvegese Olsen, oggi in Formula Renault, tutti gli altri sono ancora attivi nel karting.

2012 This edition goes on stage at the 7 Laghi track in Castelletto di Branduzzo, close to Pavia, Italy. This time the title hunt is only for four categories (KZ2, KF2, KF3, 60 Mini), but the event again has a huge number of entries: 142 drivers. The winners are Riccardo Negro in KZ2, Dennis Olsen in KF2 (again), Callum Ilott in KF3, and Leonardo Lorandi in 60 Mini. With this last victory, WSK Promotion proves to be one of the few organizers in the world to offer an international first-class competitive context also to the youngest drivers. 2014 The best characteristic of this year’s edition is the venue. The WSK Final Cup weekend marks the inauguration of the Adria kart track. This race is the first to write a page in the history book of the new top-notch circuit. 2014 La caratteristica principale dell’edizione corrente è la location. Il week end della WSK Final Cup coincide con l’inaugurazione del kartodromo di Adria. Questa è la prima gara a scrivere una pagina nella storia di questo nuovo tracciato di massimo livello.

2012 Per questa edizione si sceglie il circuito “7 Laghi” di Castelletto di Branduzzo (PV). Le categorie sono solo quattro (KZ2, KF2, KF3, 60 Mini), ma il numero degli iscritti è di nuovo consistente:142 piloti. A vincere sono Riccardo Negro in KZ2, Dennis Olsen in KF2 (di nuovo), Callum Ilott in KF3 e Leonardo Lorandi nella 60 Mini. Con quest’ultima vittoria WSK Promotion si conferma come una delle poche realtà al mondo a voler offrire un contesto di gara internazionale di massimo livello anche ai giovanissimi.

2013 For the second year in a row, the WSK Final Cup takes place in Castelletto’s 7 Laghi kart track. Yet, it’s the first time in the history of the competition that entries come from all 5 continents. There are 172 drivers on track, again across 4 categories. In KZ2 the winner is Patrik Hajek; in KF, Callum Ilott; in KFJ, Robert Shwartzman; in 60 Mini, Giuseppe Fusco. 2013 Per il secondo anno di seguito la WSK Final Cup si corre a Castelletto, presso la pista “7 Laghi”, ma è per la prima volta nella storia della competizione che i piloti in campo, ben 172, vengono da tutti e 5 i continenti. THE KINGS OF THE SUP Four champions for four categories. The 2014 WSK Super Master Series, which ran on three rounds between March and April, was absolutely spectacular. In these pages we celebrate its great winners.

NICOLA ABRUSCI Baby Race - 60 Mini

It wasn’t easy for Nicola Abrusci in the 60 Mini. In fact, the Baby Race driver secured the title victory only in the third and final round. Yet, throughout the entire championship, he showed a degree of maturity and a capacity to handle pressure and difficulties that you would normally expect to see in a driver who is used to doing well on karts. The winning performance that made of him a champion was, no doubt, the one in the super final on the La Conca circuit, where he crushed competitors’ hopes with an “expert” victory. Nicola Abrusci nella 60 Mini non ha avuto vita facilissima. La vittoria del pilota della Baby Race è, infatti, arrivata solo all’ultimo dei tre round corsi nella competizione. Il ragazzo ha, però, dimostrato grande maturità e, soprattutto, una capacità di gestire la tensione e le difficoltà degne di chi su un go kart è abituato a starci bene. La prestazione vincente che l’ha fatto diventare campione è stata, senza dubbio, quella della finalissima sul circuito La Conca dove ha tolto ogni speranza alla concorrenza con una vittoria di “mestiere”.

ENAAM AHMED Ricky Flynn Motorsport - KFJ

This year Enaam Ahmed won everything there was to win in KFJ, including the Super Master Series, of course. The Ricky Flynn Motorsport driver, now World Champion, turned constance into his secret weapon, round after round. He too sealed the deal on his triumph only in the final wekend in Muro Leccese, where he imposed his rule first in the prefinal and again in the final, going home with the trophy.

Enaam Ahmed in questa stagione ha vinto tutto quello che c’era da vincere nella KFJ, inclusa la Super Master Series. L’inglese del team Ricky Flynn Motorsport, oggi Campione del Mondo, ha fatto della costanza la sua arma segreta in ognuna delle nelle 3 gare di campionato. Anche per lui, il trionfo si è compiuto solo nella tappa conclusiva di Muro Leccese, dove si si è imposto prima in prefinale, poi di nuovo in finale, tornando a casa con il trofeo.

UPER MASTER SERIES

Quattro campioni per quattro categorie. La WSK Super Master Series 2014, corsa su tre round tra marzo e aprile, è stata nel segno dello spettacolo. In queste pagine ne celebriamo i grandi vincitori. The Zanardi Strakka Racing driver managed an incredible rebound. When the Brit arrived to the closing event, he was far from the favorites. In fact, there were several names ahead of him in the standings. Yet, Callum Ilott achieved a “monster” feat, placing the winning pounce in the key race, while many of the title contenders had to grapple with technical mishaps and tactical mistakes. If the result for the driver was the trophy, the message for everyone was: keep believing, never give up.

CALLUM ILOTT Zanardi Strakka Racing - KF

Rimonta incredibile quella dell’inglese della Zanardi Strakka Racing che arrivava all’ultimo round non certo con i favori del pronostico. In classifica, infatti, il suo nome era dietro a diversi piloti. Eppure, Callum Ilott è riuscito a compiere un’impresa “pazzesca”, piazzando la zampata vincente proprio nella gara decisiva, mentre molti dei favoriti al titolo hanno dovuto fare i conti con imprevisti tecnici ed errori tattici. Se il risultato per il pilota è stato il trofeo, il messaggio per tutti è: crederci sempre, arrendersi mai.

MARCO ARDIGÒ

Marco Adigò, today KZ World Champion, started out the season in the best of all possible ways. In the Super Master Tony Kart Racing Team - KZ2 Series he proved to be the man to beat, but nobody succeeded in the deed. Rain or shine, the Tony Kart driver was impeccable, alternating excellent races with demonstrations of superior technical skill. He absolutely deserved this title and his current place on top of the world proves it.

Colui che è diventato poi Campione del Mondo KZ, ha iniziato la stagione nel migliore dei modi. Nella Super Master Series, infatti, Marco Adigò ha dimostrato di essere il nome da battere, ma nessuno è riuscito nell’impresa. Pioggia o sole, il pilota della Tony Kart è stato sempre impeccabile: ha alternato ottime prove a dimostrazioni di eccellente qualità tecnica. Il suo trionfo è stato veramente meritato e il titolo di campione ne è il più evidente riconoscimento.
