We barely had the time to get the new season started and we are already at the second round of the WSK Super Master Series! By the end of the weekend we’ll be half-way through the championship. A lot has already happened, many drivers have already cheered in triumph and others are looking to get their due. True, we also had the first, inevitable, discussions surrounding new technical rules, but besides the fact that we can and should always work to improve - we should also remember that every decision we take is for the good of our sport. So... full speed ahead! Catch your breath, then let engines roar again.

Nemmeno il tempo di iniziare la stagione, che siamo già arrivati al secondo round della WSK Super Master Series! Ovvero, una volta finita la gara, saremo già a metà percorso. Tante cose sono già successe, tanti piloti hanno già esultato e tanti sono già in cerca di un primo riscatto. Vero, ci sono state anche le prime, inevitabili, discussioni su alcune novità tecniche, ma, fermo restando che tutto si può, e si deve, sempre migliorare, ogni decisione presa è sempre nel tentativo di fare del bene al kart. Quindi… avanti tutta! Giusto il tempo di riprendere fiato e poi sarà di nuovo, un’altra volta, tempo di accendere i motori.

ONE FOR THE BOOKS Let’s celebrate the champions of the Gold Cup, the inaugural edition of the new challenge by WSK Promotion that took place on February 26th at the Adria circuit Celebriamo i campioni della Gold Cup, la prima edizione della nuova manifestazione nata in casa WSK che si è corsa lo scorso 26 febbraio nel circuito di Adria One-off karting challenges are always tough on drivers and teams, since they only have a weekend to give their best. There is no time for correcting mistakes, so those who win are also those who remain consistent throughout. This time Norway’s Dennis Hauger (CRG/TM) wins in the 60 Mini, Denmark’s Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart/Vortex) in KFJ, Poland’s Karol Basz (Kosmic/Vortex) in KF and Italy’s Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart/Vortex) in KZ2. Una competizione in gara unica è sempre particolare. Si gioca tutto, infatti, in un solo week end di gara. Passi falsi non sono permessi e, per questa ragione, l’arma segrata di questi campioni è stata certamente la capacità di essere costante. Nella 60 Mini a vincere il norvegese Dennis Hauger (CRG/TM), nella KFJ il danese Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart/Vortex), nella KF il polacco Karol Basz (Kosmic/Vortex) e nella KZ2 l’italiano Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart/Vortex). FLASH NEWS FROM THE KART WORLD The WSK Super Master Series opened on March 8th in Adria with a remarkable absence in KZ2: Praga Kart Racing’s Jonathan Thonon was missing from the entry list. What could have ever kept the Belgian from participating? Wonderful news: in those very hours, his girlfriend was blessing him with the joy of becoming a dad. What else can we say... Congratulations, champion! Nel primo round della WSK Champions Cup corsa l’8 marzo scorso ad Adria nella KZ2 c’era un assente di lusso. Jonathan Thonon, pilota della Praga Kart Racing, non si è infatti iscritto alla competizione. Cosa avrà mai tenuto lontano il belga da una gara? Una bellissima notizia. La sua ragazza, infatti, proprio in quelle ore gli stava regalando la gioia di diventare papà. Cosa altro aggiungere se non un tanti auguri campione! Stan Pex is 16 years old, Davide Forè is 40: it’s a 24 year age difference, but they are colleagues. In fact both are competing for the KZ2 title of the WSK Super Master Series. The Dutch kid is following in his father’s and brother’s footsteps and he is a young talent. The Italian is a veteran galore; in fact, he is multiple-time world karting champion. In the opening round of the series in Adria, Forè was fifth across the finish-line and Pex was thirtieth. The good news is that karting is truly for guys and gals of all ages. Stan Pex ha 16 anni, Davide Forè 40. 24 anni di differenza tra due piloti che, in occasione del primo round della WSK Super Master Series, hanno condiviso la stessa gara. I due, infatti, sono entrambi iscritti nella categoria KZ2. Se il primo è un olandese, figlio e fratello d’arte, giovane promessa del karting. L’altro, italiano, è un veterano che diverse volte è anche diventato campione mondiale. In quella gara Forè ha tagliato il traguardo per quinto, Pex trentesimo. La buona notizia è che, mai come in questo caso, andare in kart è per tutte l’età.

KZ2 REPORT

SUPER MARCO ARDIGÒ

Marco Ardigò is the winner: he starts first, remains first, and ends first to conquer the victory he worked for all weekend long. Behind him everything happens. Lorenzo Camplese (Formula K/Parilla), who was given as rival number one, has a tough start and tries to recover, but after a few laps he makes contact with FlavioCamponeschi (Tony kart/Vortex) and both go out. Paolo De Conto (CRG/Maxter) also fails to finish the race, out 5 laps from the end. In the end the podium finishers are Jorge Carlos Pescador (Praga/Parilla), second, and a hard-charging SimoPuhakka (CRG/ Maxter), who claims third place with a pass on Jordon Lennox Lamb (Birel ART/Parilla) six laps from the finish-line. DavideForè (CRG/Maxter) wraps up the top 5.

Vince Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart/Vortex): parte primo, rimane primo e finisce primo. Una vittoria meritatissima. Alle sue spalle succede un po’ di tutto. Lorenzo Camplese (Formula K/ Parilla) che sembrava l’antagonista designato, è sfortunato nella partenza. Poi quando nei primi giri prova a rimontare, è costretto al ritiro a causa di un contatto. La seconda posizione, quindi, la ottiene Jorge Carlos Pescador (Praga/Parilla). La terza, invece, è di Simo Puhakka (CRG/Maxter) protagonista di un’incisiva rimonta. Il sorpasso decisivo è, a sei giri dal termine, ai danni di Jordon Lennox Lamb (Birel ART/Parilla). L’inglese termina quarto, alle sue spalle è Davide Forè (CRG/Maxter) a chiudere la top five.

NIELSEN MESSES UP, BASZ WINS

Karol Basz (Kosmic/Vortex) wins the OTK duel with Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart/Vortex) . The Pole does an excellent start off grid, holding on to the top spot, and flies off to win, building a progressively wider gap. Behind him, it takes some time for Nielsen to warm up: at the start he slips down to fifth and he recovers second place after seven laps. At that point Basz is way ahead and all the Dane can do is defend his runner up position. Martijn Van Leeuwen rounds off the podium, at the end of a steady rise. He places the winning pounce on lap 15, overtaking a progressively slower Casper Roes (FA Kart/Vortex). Towards the end Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart/Vortex) also manages to get ahead of Roes, to take fourth place.

Karol Basz (Kosmic/Vortex) ha la meglio su Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart/Vortex). La partenza del polacco è ottima mantenendo una prima posizione con la quale taglia il traguardo all’arrivo. Alle sue spalle ci mette un bel po’ Nickalas Nielsen a carburare. Al via, infatti, scivola in quinta posizione e impiega sette giri per riportarsi in seconda piazza. Ormai, però, Basz è irraggiungibile e per il danese non c’è altro da fare se non salvaguardare il secondo posto. Ultimo gradino del podio per Martijn Van Leeuwen che cresce giro dopo giro. Il sorpasso deciso avviene al quindicesimo passaggio quando supera Casper Roes (FA Kart/Vortex) che finisce quinto, superato anche da Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart/Vortex).

THE FASTEST IS NOVALAK

Clement Novalak (Tony Kart/Vortex) secures a front row start by winning one of the two prefinals and when the green drops he does a perfect start. Novalak grabs the lead of the field and holds on to it until the end. Just to spell all doubts about his superiority, he seals a perfect race by scoring the best lap. The battle for second place features an intense duel between ArtemPetrov (DR/TM) and Logan Sargeant (FA Kart/Vortex) that lasts until mid-race, when the American gets his way. On the rebound from a tough start, Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart/Vortex) has to make do with closing fourth behind Sergeant and Petrov. David Vidales (Energy/TM) wraps up the top 5, followed by Italian Lorenzo Colombo (Tony Kart/LKE).

Clement Novalak (Tony Kart/Vortex) ipoteca la prima fi la vincendo una delle due prefinali e poi è bravissimo a non fare sbavature nella partenza della gara decisiva. Il pilota della Tony Kart si piazza in testa e quella posizione non la lascia più. Suo anche il best lap a rimarcare la sua perfetta prestazione. Per la seconda posizione, invece, si può parlare di altra gara tra Artem Petrov (DR/TM) e Logan Sargeant (FA Kart/ Vortex). Dove proprio quest’ultimo riesce ad avere la meglio. Dietro al podio c’è un Chrisitan Lundgaard (Tony Kart/Vortex) che causa un non ottimo start si è dovuto accontentare. Dopo il danese troviamo David Vidales (Energy/ TM) e Lorenzo Colombo (Tony Kart/LKE), rispettivamente quinto e sesto classificato.

THRILLS UNTIL THE LAST METER

The race is breath-taking until the last corner, when MattiaMichelotto (Energy/Iame) secures the win. The Italian does a great job of jumping up three positions at the start to get behind Dennis Hauger (CRG/TM), then he waits for the right moment to pass. Opportunity comes knocking at mid-race: Michelotto makes an inside pass over the Norwegian and takes the lead. Mattia Muller (Energy/TM) gets in line behind them to form a runaway three-kart train. The race seems set, but the pack “explodes” in battle again on the last lap: Hauger tries to attack, Michelotto shuts him off, the two make slight contact, the Italian controls his kart and dashes for the finish to claim the win, while Muller makes an unexpected dip into Hauger, overtakes, and claims second place.

È emozione fino all’ultima curva e a vincere è Mattia Michelotto (Energy/Iame). L’italiano allo start è bravo a recuperare tre posizioni e mettersi alle spalle di Dennis Hauger (CRG/TM) in attesa del momento giusto per passarlo. Momento che arriva a metà gara dove internamente ha la meglio sul norvegese. Dietro c’è Mattia Muller (Energy/TM) a completare il trenino che per tutta la gara è stato in testa. Nell’ultimo giro ecco che Hauger prova ad attaccare, ma Michelotto chiude. I due si toccano, ma proprio quest’ultimo conferma la prima posizione e vince. Il pilota della Gamoto invece è addirittura passato da Muller che, in modo inaspettato, conquista la piazza d’onore.
