Welcome to the fifth annual Robotics Summit & Expo, the world’s leading event for commercial robotics developers. The brightest minds in robotics will be with us for the next two days to share their experiences and expertise and collectively drive robotics innovation forward.

Our conference programming is headlined by Jonathan Hurst from Agility Robotics, Tye Brady from Amazon Robotics, Ujjwal Kumar from Teradyne Robotics, and Rajit Kamal from Medtronic, as well as Moritz Baecher, Tony Dohi, and Morgan Pope from Disney.

The keynotes and general sessions are designed to help engineers build the next generation of robots. We will cover everything from advances in motion control and sensing to emerging technologies such as generative AI and humanoids. We’ll also discuss design optimization techniques, simulation, ROS, behavior trees, and more.

The Automated Warehouse Track is new to this year’s programming. You’ll hear from leaders at DHL Supply Chain, GXO Logistics, igus, Körber Supply Chain, Locus Robotics, and Symbotic about how robots are improving warehouse operations.

Our expo floor is packed with more than 200 exhibitors showcasing their latest enabling technologies, products and services. There are lots of new additions to the showfloor, including the RBR50 Showcase with interactive demos from current and previous winners of our RBR50 Robotics Innovation Awards. Experts will also be speaking in the new Engineering Theater, which is free to all attendees.

There are plenty of networking opportunities. New to the 2024 show are the RBR50 Robotics Innovation

Awards Gala on May 1 from 6-8 PM in Room 259AB and the Women in Robotics Breakfast on May 2 from 8-9 AM in Room 255. The inaugural RBR50 Gala offers a chance to connect with the world’s leading robotics innovators. It’s also a celebration of these roboticists and their impressive achievements. The evening will include a cocktail hour, a plated dinner, photo opportunities, an awards ceremony, and the chance to hear from the Robot of the Year, Startup of the Year, and Application of the Year winners.

The Robotics Summit & Expo is co-located with DeviceTalks Boston, which is designed for professionals who are shaping the future of the medical device industry. We are also co-located with the inaugural Digital Transformation Forum, which is intended to educate manufacturers along their digital journeys so they can improve production and strengthen supply chains. Full-access attendees can explore all three events.

Thanks to our sponsors and attendees. Without them, none of this is possible. We will be posting pictures and videos on all of our social media channels. Be sure to follow along and share your experiences by using the hashtag #RSE2024.

Enjoy the Robotics Summit & Expo here in Boston! And don’t forget to scan the QR code below to plan your show and get the latest updates.

Rotary Actuators with Integrated Servo Drive

Simplify your Design with our New, Innovative Family of Compact Rotary Actuators with Integrated Servo Drive!

The Servo Drive is Inside!

The IDT Series is a family of compact actuators with an integrated servo drive with CANopen® communication. They deliver high torque with exceptional accuracy and repeatability, and feature Harmonic Drive® precision strain wave gears combined with a brushless servomotor. Some models are available with a brake and two magnetic absolute encoders with the second providing output position sensing. This revolutionary product line eliminates the need for an external drive and greatly simplifies cabling, yet delivers high-positional accuracy and torsional stiffness with a compact form factor.

• Actuator with Integrated Servo Drive utilizing CANopen®

• 24 or 48 VDC nominal supply voltage

• A single cable with only 4 conductors is needed:

CANH, CANL, +VDC, 0VDC

• Zero Backlash Harmonic Drive® Gearing

• Panel Mount Connectors or Pigtail Cables Available with Radial and Axial Options

• Control Modes include: Torque, Velocity, and Position Control, CSP, CSV, CST

Harmonic Drive is a registered trademark of Harmonic Drive LLC. CANopen is a registered trademark of CAN in Automation. 42 Dunham Ridge, Beverly, MA 01915 | 800.921.3332 | www.HarmonicDrive.net

Welcome to DeviceTalks Boston 2024! It’s a true honor to have you join us here. If you listen to our podcasts, you know I start every interview with the same basic question - Why and how did you make Medtech your career.

I’ve heard hundreds of answers. Each varies from the other, of course, but the overarching message embedded in every response is the one simple truth - we love working in an industry working to help people live healthier lives.

That’s it. That’s why you’re in this industry and we built this DeviceTalks Boston agenda to help you find success in that essential mission.

Over the next two days we’ll help you build a stronger Network, see the latest in Innovation, identify the next game-changing Technology and better understand the Strategies of the leaders in our industry.

We do this same work week after week on our DeviceTalks podcast and webinars. Digital is great, but telling these stories and sharing these messages to rooms full of medical device industry professionals is just a special experience.

I’m grateful you’ve chosen to spend your valuable time with us today. Enjoy the talks. Find some kindred spirits and please make sure you say hello to Managing Editor

Kayleen Brown, Editor-in-Chief

Chris Newmarker, Associate Editor

Sean Whooley, Webinar Coordinator

Emira Winginger and myself at some point over the next two days.

Thank you for choosing to work in this wonderful industry.

Go Medtech, Tom

WELCOME DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION PIONEERS,

Congratulations! You are the brave souls who are tackling this new manufacturing frontier. This is unknown territory for many engineers and executives alike. We understand that navigating all aspects of a digital transformation can be overwhelming. Therefore, we’ve fine-tuned the inaugural Digital Transformation Forum to target key areas of impact across all industries.

Over the next two days, you’ll be hearing from technology and academic thought leaders who will explain the building blocks for a successful project, as well as the manufacturers sharing their journeys. We’ll be covering important topics, including:

• Where and how to start a digital transformation project

• The role of industrial control and open standards

• Data management and the digital thread

• When to apply artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and productivity

• The impact of advanced simulations

• Tools for rapid product development

• The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), edge computing and the cloud

• Cybersecurity and remote management

• How to achieve long-term sustainability goals

• The skillsets required for the workforce of the future

In this learning and networking forum, you’ll have the chance to interact with the presenters as well as your peers. You will also have access to the co-located Robotics Summit and DeviceTalks, so be sure to review the agenda carefully and download the conference app.

Join us at the Mix & Mingle networking reception on Wednesday, May 1st, beginning at 5 pm in room 258ABC, and be sure to visit the Engineering Theater for technology demonstrations.

I know you will leave here at the end of the week with new ideas, new contacts and new friends! Thank you for spending your time with us in my hometown of Boston. Be sure to take some time to explore this amazing city, also known as “the hub of the universe!”

Cheers!

High Precision Gear Solutions

A new gear designed for your next application, the ML2000 gear series cater to robotics and motion control solutions which demand consistent performance.

The ML2000 series is enabled by our patent pending Orbital Flex™ gear designed to deliver:

• High Torque

• High Rigidity

• High Positional Accuracy

• Linear Torsional Stiffness

All of this, while maintaining zero backlash for 10,000 hours.

HIGH TORQUE & HIGH RIGIDITY with 10,000 HOURS of ZERO BACKLASH at RATED LOAD

Our innovative, patent pending Orbital Flex™ gear design delivers high torque, high rigidity and high positional accuracy while maintaining zero backlash for 10,000 hours.

The foundation of Orbital Flex™ is centered around a solid rigid preloaded cup orbiting within a ring gear to produce zero backlash.
