What’s new in the latest release of NX so ware

The latest release of its industry leading NX so ware is part of the Xcelerator portfolio of so ware and services. This release leverages technologies such as artifi cial intelligence (AI) and advanced simulation capabilities to help users innovate more quickly. It has woven topology optimization design, through to component generation, additive manufacturing, and fi nal machining by leveraging convergent modeling and automated model-based defi nition authoring for PMI generation together with task-based collaboration.

Highlights of the new release of NX software include:

The new NX Topology Optimizer helps to create parts based purely on functional and design space requirements, for fully editable convergent bodies that would be almost impossible to design and engineer manually. Inevitable design changes can be quickly made, optimizations and any downstream features updated automatically – saving time, effort and maximizing reuse of intelligence design and engineering data.

The Design Space Explorer combines design space exploration with generative engineering to help designers automatically optimize a design against multiple objectives. Design engineers define the optimization problem with all parameters, constraints, and objectives in place and NX uses Simcenter HEEDS software to conduct multi-objective parameter optimization, providing the designer an immediate set of viable design alternatives to consider that would have otherwise required a simulation specialist.

Increased Artificial intelligence (AI) & machine learning (ML) in the Selection Prediction and Select Similar commands uses shape recognition to quickly identify geometrically similar components, while the NX Voice Command Assist allows the user to invoke commands, navigate multi-level menus and operations as well as teach the system words or phrases to carry out common tasks. Ask NX “Have we done something like this before?” and it will carry out a Shape Search using Siemens’ Geolus technology.

Lattice structures within NX can be optimized using Siemens’ Simcenter 3D simulation to derive the optimal lattice structure in a singular environment - eliminating the multiple design analysis steps required traditionally. Elsewhere, Part Orientation Optimization brings nesting of parts (and their associated supports) within a machine build area along with integrated cloud-based orientation optimization processes to find the optimal build orientation for reduced thermal distortion. Cadence and Dassault Systèmes partner to transform electronic systems development

Products and services are increasingly interconnected and intelligent, enabling consumers, citizens and patients to unlock more personalized, engaging experiences that improve quality of life. Companies must rapidly develop electronic systems that are safe, high quality and right the fi rst time. Mastering electronic system complexity and cost/time-tomarket pressures requires collaborative innovation that unites electronics, mechanics and additional functions across the value chain. To this end, Cadence Design Systems, Inc. and Dassault Systèmes announced a strategic partnership to provide to multiple vertical markets, including high tech, transportation and mobility, industrial equipment, aerospace and defense, and healthcare, with integrated, next-generation solutions for the development of high-performance electronic systems. The two companies have combined Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform with the Cadence Allegro platform in a joint solution for designers to master the multidiscipline modeling, simulation and optimization of complex, connected electronic systems. The collaborative virtual twin experiences integrate capabilities for electronic and mechanical product lifecycle management, business process analytics and multidiscipline electronic systems development, engineering and traceability. This holistic virtual model provides a real-time view of electrical and mechanical simulation, manufacturing and supply chain execution for the product lifecycle, improving decision-making and accelerating innovation, through “whatif” studies. Exchange of large data volumes between 3D, CAD and VR systems

The current version of the universal converter 3D_Evolution 4.5 supports the latest JT format 10.5. The tool was specially developed for exchanging large amounts of data between the various 3D, CAD and VR systems and enables detailed CAD models to be simplifi ed. For data conversion, especially in the automotive, aerospace and plant engineering sectors, it is necessary to convert assemblies of several gigabytes in size into another system format. This is now also possible for the latest JT 10.5 data format. The actual so ware version 3D_Evolution 4.5 SP1 hereby supports the new STT technology to quickly load a 3D preview of the entire JT model and reload sub-assemblies in the exact XT format. This gives the user an overview for selecting and converting the desired perimeters in the shortest possible time. The new version of the conversion so ware also supports the 3D dimension information (PMI) of JT 10.5, where the 3D dimensions mark the associated reference geometry such as holes and tolerance information on the model and allows the user a better overview. The 3D_Evolution converter has interfaces to all common systems and formats such as Catia, Creo, Nx, Solidworks, Inventor, and STEP as well as to the visualization formats Fbx, Gltf and Obj. Functions for quality analysis and data correction ensure data quality when exchanging data between the most diverse 3D systems. The so ware’s optional Simplifi er module automatically creates an outer shell of complex models and eff ectively reduces the data volumes of large assemblies and complex models. This enables fast, problem- ee further processing in 3D systems. By generating the envelope geometry, the know-how is protected at the same time. DW
