2012 WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

The Claremont women, who are ranked fourth in the nation and won the SCIAC Championship, are the favorite for the team title. Lewis & Clark, 24th nationally, won the NWC Championship and will look to give Claremont a challenge. The Willamette women, who are third in the region, are hoping to break up the top two and secure an automatic bid to the national championships. The favorite for the individual title is Lenore Moreno (La Verne), who won the SCIAC title by almost a whole minute. Allison Barnwell (CMS) and Melissa Skiba (Cal Lutheran) rounded out the top three at the SCIAC championships and will contend for the title. Emily Thomas and Melissa Newton-Mora (Lewis & Clark) as well as Michaela Freeby (Willamette) were the top three at the NWC Championships and are all capable of knocking off Moreno.
