Public housing renewal program 1,288 new public housing dwellings by 2019 Multi-unit properties being renewed: • built in the 1950s and 1960s for a growing public service • concentrated in high-density developments, mainly in Canberra’s Inner North and Inner South • expensive to maintain • no longer fit for purpose

Replacement homes: • mix of houses, townhouses and apartments • spread more evenly across Canberra • improved designs to meet tenant needs now, and into the future
