• Earned its first-ever at-large bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship • The squad posted a program-best, 8-8 conference mark for the second consecutive year to finish third overall in the Big 12 • West Virginia was one of seven Big 12 schools to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, marking the second-most schools for a conference at the NCAA Tournament • The team opened the season 10-0 for the first time since 2017 • West Virginia swept No. 23 Michigan in a match on Sept. 3 • The team went on to tally its first win at Iowa State, as well as a season sweep over Oklahoma for the first time in program history • Coach Reed Sunahara tallied his 400th career win in a match against No. 23 Michigan on Sept. 3 • Six individuals finished the season in the top 10 of four Big 12 categories: Lacey Zerwas ranked second with 10.35 assists per set, Skye Stokes ranked second with .55 service aces per set, Alexa Hasting ranked fourth with 4.02 digs per set, Briana Lynch ranked fifth with a .345 hitting efficiency, Adrian Ell ranked seventh with 3.47 kills per set and Natali Petrova ranked eighth with .32 service aces per set • In the NCAA, two Mountaineers ranked in the top 50, including Stokes, who finished in seventh in service aces per set, and Zerwas, who finished 47th in assists per set • For the sixth straight year, WVU was named a recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award • Zerwas was named to the 2021 Academic All-America Third Team for the first time in her career. She is the second Mountaineer all-time to garner the award • Three Mountaineers earned All-Midwest Region All-Big 12 honors, including Lynch, Ell and Zerwas • Ell, Hasting and Zerwas were named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Volleyball First Team • Nine Mountaineers earned a spot on the 2021-22 Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Teams, including six first-team members. Two Mountaineers earned their awards with a 4.0 grade point averages (Zerwas and Hasting)
