Cultural Beauty Like No Other

A surreal destination that will take your senses on the journey of a lifetime

TAJ MAHAL REFECTED, AGRA

For decades, India has been the ultimate destination for travel junkies. Every year, tourists rush to India in the millions to witness the exotic sights and sounds and eventually lose themselves to the overflowing richness of culture that India has to offer. But for anyone to embark on this monumental journey, there are 3 key places which simply cannot be missed.

The first place on the list has to be Delhi, the capital of India. The city of Delhi is the perfect example of how the old can co-exist with the new. On the one hand there is history to be told around every corner with monuments like the old fort Purana Quila and the India Gate littered all over the city, but on the other hand, there are also mega malls where you can indulge yourself in world-class retail therapy. Just hop on board the New Delhi metro, which is one of the largest metro systems in the world, and it will take you to your desired destination. Everything you could possibly hope for in a holiday can be found in this remarkable city.

The Mausoleum of Love The next spot that every self-respecting traveller must visit is Agra, just 200km away from Delhi that can be easily accessed by the railroad systems. Agra is home to the iconic Taj Mahal, which was built to house the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s beloved wife. From the moment you step into the Taj Mahal, you will be enthralled by the grand architecture, with every wall covered in

LAXMI NARAYAN TEMPLE

exquisite detailing and every beautiful carving a reminder of the sheer skill of the craftsmen who built this monument. As you leave this almost magical place, you will still be in awe of the grandeur of this mausoleum built in the name of love.

The Pink City Last on the agenda has to be Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’. This unique name is attributed to parts of the city being largely built with its iconic pink stone. The abundant streets and colourful markets give Jaipur its unique charm that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Jaipur is pretty much “India in a nutshell”, as the city is both chaotic yet beautiful,

INDIA JAIPURE

bursting at the seams with life and bombards your senses in ways that can only be described as surreal. Being a part of this swirling mass of culture and beauty is truly a humbling experience. At the end of the day, when you’ve had your fill of looking at the typical tourist attractions, we recommend getting lost in the narrow winding roads, as you try all the food you can find, talk to the locals and visit every little shop you come across, because that is where you will find the true heart of India. Lucky to Be Lost Underground in Seoul! Experience a shopping extravaganza like no other in the most unlikely of places Do not panic if you have missed your stop along Seoul’s intricate transportation routes. Instead, rejoice that you were actually destined to explore rare finds at some of the most unassuming shopping malls located underground at the city’s bustling railway stations and bus terminals. Check out these shoppers’ secret hideouts at your next stop and lose yourself in the endless shopping possibilities.

Jamsil Underground Shopping Centre Adventure shopping in Seoul means hitting the humongous malls to finding rare gems at smaller ‘boutique-feel’ malls. So when you are in Jamsil, the heart of the Seoul’s fashion district, you have to hit up the underground shopping mall for unique finds that can’t be bought from the other stores above ground. Though it has only about 135 shops, the Jamsil Underground Mall is still a wonderful maze of special nooks and corners where lovely deals can unexpectedly spring from modest shops. Even if you’re not one for shopping, you will also leave with satisfied tummies as the mall offers various local and foreign-inspired delicacies.

Located at the crossroads of traffic madness with people transiting from different areas or making a pit stop before the Times Square Mall, this place is best navigated via three major sections. Trendy grandparents can focus on the stores located closest to the Yeongdeungpo Market for some old-school glamour wear, while the younger ones can begin their shopping a nywhere from the centre to the section in between Yeongdeungpo Station and Times Square for hip, in-style clothes.

A sight to behold

EXPERIENCE PRISTINE BEACHES ON HORSEBACK

Though lesser known among tourists, Hua Hin is one of the most popular weekend getaway destination for the city locals, especially couples and families. This is partly due to Hua Hin’s heritage as the Royal Family’s favourite summer retreat, so much so that King Rama VII decided to build a summer palace here in the 1920s. Till this day, the estate remains as the primary royal residence of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and is only accessible by invitation only. You can also make a trip to the elegant Mrigadayavan Palace found in the sleepy town of Cha-am. A mammoth estate comprising of 16 golden teak buildings that are all interconnected by verandas built on stilts where visitors can enjoy the natural sea breeze.

Occasional live concerts and performances are held at the Activities Zone, and the Weekend Art Market is where visitors shop for all kinds of souvenirs Tucked away in a remote part of Hua Hin and set amidst lush mountain ranges is the Hua Hin Hills Vineyard. Covering an extensive 2.26 km2 of countryside, the vineyard is home to the award-winning Monsoon Valley wine label as well as range of other labels. Explore both modern living in the cities of Kyushu and the uninterrupted zen of the Onsen’s on Mount Aso As Japan’s gateway to Asia, Kyushu is blessed with breath-taking natural landscape as well as modern bustling cities. It is also made up of a multitude of natural landforms and one of them is the caldera in Mount Aso, which allows for a large number of onsens (hot springs). Endowed with beautiful coastlines and captivating natural wonders, Kyushu is one of the most famous tourist spots in Japan. Due to its sub-tropical climate, travelling in this place is a lighter experience and tourists will no doubt have a spectacular time and this hidden gem only gets more magnificent as winter falls.

Mount Aso The famous Mount Aso is actually a huge volcanic crater located in central Kyushu. It stretches across the Kumamoto Prefecture and Oita Prefecture and is the world’s largest crater with a diameter of more than 25km and a circumference up to 100km. This giant crater is surrounded by high mountains that provide breath-taking landscapes, and you can travel to and fro by cable car from Ruoyo up to the peak of Mountain Aso at a station located right at the edge of the glorious crater.

Go Wild with Wonder in Japan A wintry white fantasyland of glistening lakes and snow-capped volcanic mountains awaits you in Toyako, and enjoy some fascinating time with the animals in Asahiyama Zoo

WINTER IN HOKKAIDO

An interesting blend of modernity, nature and tradition, Japan is a place blessed with bountiful nature that transforms with every season. Whether you’re looking for food delights or planning for some sightseeing, a fanatic of samurais and ninjas or obsessed with otaku culture, Japan never ceases to surprise and amaze.

Asahiyama Zoo If you are in Asahikawa, you definitely have to make a trip to Asahiyama Zoo. Located in the northernmost part of Japan, the zoo is renowned for their special animal exhibits that focus on showing

animal behaviour and activity in a natural manner. They have unique, interactive animal viewing facilities offering close-up views, which are built differently taking into consideration the animals’ natural behaviour and characteristics, such as tunnels that run through water tanks, glass domes and capsules in the middle of the enclosures, as well as free-roaming jungle gyms and play areas. Don’t miss the Penguin Parade during winter, where you get to watch an adorable troop of penguins waddling in a line right before your eyes.

LAKE TOYA, HOKKAIDO

PENGUIN PARADE

Natural splendour abounds in this region, featuring a myriad of picturesque vistas and nature attractions that changes dramatically from season to season. Start with a visit to Lake Toya, an icefree lake that never freezes even in drastically cold temperatures during winter, and take in a beautiful panorama of pure white snow against sparkling blue waters. Go on a trip to the nearby Mt. Showa, an active volcano formed on what was once a flat wheat field due to volcanic activity between the years 1943 to 1945. Rounding off the attractions is the Bear Ranch, which houses a special observation room where you can get to see about 100 brown bears from a close distance.

Stay Safe with Traveloc Keep your luggage secure as you jet across the globe

With more than 20 years of experience in the security seal industry, the Managing Director of Titan DSB has successfully innovated, designed and developed the Traveloc with luggage safety in mind for its consumers. Generally, security seals are mainly used in industries such as airlines, banks, security guarding companies, shipping, logistics and gaming. Titan DSB had officially launched the TRAVELOC during the MITM Travel Fair in Kuala Lumpur this year.

New Innovation and Inspiration These days, we tend to read in the news and media about cases where tourists are accused of smuggling, but we often overlook the fact that these kinds of circumstances occur when your luggage has been tampered with or compromised.

Thus, after years of research, Titan DSB has developed a combination of padlock with tamper evident and security seal features. The brand name of this unique product is the TRAVELOC. With the tamper evident feature, the user can identify any tampering to the luggage with just a quick visual check. Should your luggage be compromised or tampered, immediately inform and declare to the Airport Authorities that your luggage had been compromised and request for a 100% inspection to the luggage. By declaring to the Airport Authorities, travellers can safeguard themselves from unnecessary prosecution should any illegal or prohibited items or substances be found in their luggage.

Research and survey shows that majority of travellers are unaware of such luggage safety and security issues. The conventional locks and TSA locks have always been the “security protection factor for luggage while travelling. However, these conventional locks and TSA locks available in the market can be opened and re-locked without trace.

A high profile example is the case which happened in Bali, Indonesia. Miss Corby, an Australian citizen, was convicted of smuggling 4.1 kg of marijuana into Bali, Indonesia. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison even though she had claimed that she was innocent throughout the trial. After serving nine years in prison, Miss Corby was released on parole in year 2014 due to psychological and mental problems. Under her parole conditions, Miss Corby cannot leave Bali until July 2017.

Stay Warm and Toasty If you’ve booked a winter holiday but have completely no clue about how to pack for the cold and wet weather, here’s a quick guide to make sure you are well-prepared for a great experience in the snow Wearing Layers Layering is the best way to dress for winter, as it allows you to add or remove insulation to adapt to changing weather conditions and different activity levels in winter. The basic three-tier protection comprises of the base layer (usually thermal wear), middle insulating layers and the outer layer for weather protection.

Ideal base layers are usually long underwear or any comfortable, tight-fitting apparel made of fabrics such as merino wool, polyester, silk or other synthetic fibres that wicks moisture away from your skin. Never wear cotton as your base layer; it absorbs moisture and sticks to your skin, keeping you wet and cold no matter how many layers you wear on top of it.

Mid-Layers

Accessories

Use thicker fabrics like merino wool, fleece or polyester in the form of a vest, sweater or jacket, which you can take off or put on if the weather changes.

It is important to keep vulnerable areas such as your head, nose, ears, neck, fingers and toes covered and insulated from the cold, as these areas are the first to be affected by frostbite and hypothermia should they be exposed to the cold and wind. Protect your head with winter hats and beanies made from wool, and keep your face and neck warm by using a scarf or a balaclava. A pair of winter gloves is also essential, and insulated mittens can keep your fingers warmer than gloves in extremely cold weather. Make sure to wear sturdy winter boots or insulated shoes and booties, paired with thick socks made from wool or fleece, to keep your feet and toes comfortable and warm.

Outer Layer If you are expecting very wet or snowy conditions, such as when you go skiing, look for waterproof, breathable protection that can keep your body dry and maintain. In this case, a down jacket made from duck or goose down feathers or a ski jacket are good options. For drier conditions, a fleece jacket or soft shell outerwear should be sufficient.
