It comes to us as no surprise that the world is becoming smaller, while exotic destinations and dream-like wonderlands all over the globe are becoming substantially more accessible. Travelling, once a luxury only enjoyed by the rich has now become more of an occasional pleasure for most people. But where does one begin his/her travel journey? Over the first nine days of the ninth month in the lunar calendar, devotees observe a strict vegetarian diet to purify themselves and fulfill their vows. On the last day, a procession starting from the temple grounds to the nearby shores will be held to send off the deities, where a boat decorated with gold paper will be set ablazed and released into the sea.

One of the biggest and most celebrated occasion in Myanmar’s Shan State, the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival at Inle Lake is held with great fanfare each year with plenty of food, entertainment and traditional music and dance. For nearly three weeks in October, four sacred images of the Buddha from Hpaung Daw U Pagoda are ceremonially rowed around the Lake on a decorated royal barge and accompanied by a procession of long canoes with hundreds of leg-rowers, stopping at each village to let people pay homage. Legend of the Seas Docks in Singapore Royal Caribbean International’s Legend of the Seas has returned to Singapore to begin her new autumn cruise season this year, after a two-year hiatus since the cruise liner homeported in Singapore from 2008 to 2013. The 11-deck luxury cruise ship will be offering six itineraries ranging from 3 to 14 nights, to as many as 19 ports of call in 10 countries and territories, namely Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia. Sailing options for Legend of the Seas include a threenight voyage to Penang and Kuala Lumpur, a five-night cruise to Bangkok and Koh Samui, as well as a 10-night, one-way cruise to Koh Samui, Bangkok, Sihanoukville,
Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Danang and Hong Kong. There will also be four new itineraries, including a 14-night one-way cruise to Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Langkawi, Phuket, Bali (Benoa), Lombok, Broome, Geraldton and Perth. Fly to the Maldives with SilkAir
Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Ms Lee Wen Fen, said: “By synergising the networks of both carriers, we are able to provide customers with more choice and greater flexibility when planning their travel itineraries.”
Starting from October 25, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, will operate four weekly flights to Maldives on the Singapore-Male route. Previously, Singapore Airlines offered a variable frequency of 10 to 14 flights a week to the capital of the Maldives. SilkAir’s partnership with Singapore Airlines to take over some
The new SilkAir flights will depart Singapore every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10:05, arriving in Male at 11:40. Return services will leave the Maldivian capital at 12:55 on the same days of the week, arriving in Singapore at 20:45.

For decades, India has been the ultimate destination for travel junkies. Jamsil Underground Shopping Centre Adventure shopping in Seoul means hitting the humongous malls to finding rare gems at smaller ‘boutique-feel’ malls. The special highlight here is not the actual wine-tasting itself, but the unique vineyard tour where you can choose to ride on an elephant’s back or tour by bicycle. Perched on the side of the hill is the open-air pavilion, The Sala, where you can settle into the evening with a glass of wine and magnificent views overlooking the entire vineyard and the surrounding valleys. The Magnificent Kyushu
Explore both modern living in the cities of Kyushu and the uninterrupted zen of the Onsen’s on Mount Aso As Japan’s gateway to Asia, Kyushu is blessed with breath-taking natural landscape as well as modern bustling cities. It is also made up of a multitude of natural landforms and one of them is the caldera in Mount Aso, which allows for a large number of onsens (hot springs). Mount Aso The famous Mount Aso is actually a huge volcanic crater located in central Kyushu. This giant crater is surrounded by high mountains that provide breath-taking landscapes, and you can travel to and fro by cable car from Ruoyo up to the peak of Mountain Aso at a station located right at the edge of the glorious crater.

A high profile example is the case which happened in Bali, Indonesia. Miss Corby, an Australian citizen, was convicted of smuggling 4.1 kg of marijuana into Bali, Indonesia. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison even though she had claimed that she was innocent throughout the trial. After serving nine years in prison, Miss Corby was released on parole in year 2014 due to psychological and mental problems. Under her parole conditions, Miss Corby cannot leave Bali until July 2017.

Stay Warm and Toasty If you’ve booked a winter holiday but have completely no clue about how to pack for the cold and wet weather, here’s a quick guide to make sure you are well-prepared for a great experience in the snow Wearing Layers Layering is the best way to dress for winter, as it allows you to add or remove insulation to adapt to changing weather conditions and different activity levels in winter. The basic three-tier protection comprises of the base layer (usually thermal wear), middle insulating layers and the outer layer for weather protection.
Ideal base layers are usually long underwear or any comfortable, tight-fitting apparel made of fabrics such as merino wool, polyester, silk or other synthetic fibres that wicks moisture away from your skin. Never wear cotton as your base layer; it absorbs moisture and sticks to your skin, keeping you wet and cold no matter how many layers you wear on top of it.

Use thicker fabrics like merino wool, fleece or polyester in the form of a vest, sweater or jacket, which you can take off or put on if the weather changes.
It is important to keep vulnerable areas such as your head, nose, ears, neck, fingers and toes covered and insulated from the cold, as these areas are the first to be affected by frostbite and hypothermia should they be exposed to the cold and wind. Protect your head with winter hats and beanies made from wool, and keep your face and neck warm by using a scarf or a balaclava. A pair of winter gloves is also essential, and insulated mittens can keep your fingers warmer than gloves in extremely cold weather. Make sure to wear sturdy winter boots or insulated shoes and booties, paired with thick socks made from wool or fleece, to keep your feet and toes comfortable and warm.
Outer Layer If you are expecting very wet or snowy conditions, such as when you go skiing, look for waterproof, breathable protection that can keep your body dry and maintain. In this case, a down jacket made from duck or goose down feathers or a ski jacket are good options. For drier conditions, a fleece jacket or soft shell outerwear should be sufficient.
