MOTIVATED TO HELP FARMERS BUILD A BETTER HERD PROGRESSIVE PRODUCERS IN MORE THAN 60 COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE HAVE TRUSTED THIS PROVEN PROGRAM TO DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT THEIR TAILORED GENETIC PLAN FOR NEARLY HALF A CENTURY.
“World Wide Sires back themselves. Each year all our heifers are objectively scored against a range of criteria and it is fascinating – and very gratifying – to see that the data behind each mating is borne out in the quality of each animal.
PRODUCTION
The difference in the quality of the calves was amazing compared to what we’d been getting. They were really solid, nice-looking, good sized calves not little frail things. And despite their size we seldom – if ever – have to assist a calving. Our empty rate is consistently around 10%.

A case of clinical mastitis in the first 30 days of lactation can result in an economic loss of $444 ($128 in direct costs and $316 in indirect costs), including loss of future milk production, premature culling and replacement loss, and future reproductive loss1.
PRODUCTION
Reduce waste milk and keep valuable replacements in the herd
Healthy cows produce more Mastitis ResistantPRO designates sires which excel in multiple indicators of mastitis resistance and are more likely to deliver genetic improvement. Mastitis ResistantPRO uses a combination of CDCB Mastitis Resistance, CDCB Somatic Cell Score (SCS) and Zoetis Mastitis Resistance.
MGD: S-S-I Nugent 2655 12323-ET GP-82
Mastitis is a leading reason for culling, especially in cows beyond the first lactation. The most common clinical diseases in cows reported by producers is mastitis (24.8 percent of cows)2. Fewer mastitis cases means less discarded milk and reduced treatment cost in all management systems.
HEALTH AND FERTILITY TRAITS
Lower antimicrobial use Over twenty percent of all lactating dairy cows receive antibiotic therapy for clinical mastitis each year and many cows receive intramammary infusions as they go dry2. Improving genetic merit for mastitis resistance will reduce use of antimicrobials.

The breeding statistics behind each World Wide Sires’ bull is pretty impressive – daughter proven sires have thousands of production records behind them, and genomic sires are selected from the largest genomic database in the world. That depth of information gave us confidence to make the switch.

We are on the right track to get the herds we want – well framed, strong cows with great udder support. Our aim is to have heifers which average 2 milk solids per day in the peak. Currently our three year olds average 2.4 with some around 2.7 milk solids per day. The difference between the New Zealand bred cows and World Wide Sires is pretty obvious – in the paddock and in the vat.”

GForce™ GForce indicates sires with elite genetic evaluations based on a combination of traditional pedigree data and genomic data, but does not contain actual daughter data. This combination of data increases the reliability of a young sire’s genetic prediction prior to the availability of actual daughter data. GForce+ The GForce+ lineup includes genomic young sires selected based on rigid semen quality standards and their high-ranking Sire Conception Rate (SCR) from progeny test semen usage. GForce+ sires must have outstanding genetic merit, a highly reliable sire stack and actual calving ease observations. ™
®
FeedPRO FeedPRO optimizes the selection for increased production and moderate body size while maintaining body condition score and daughter fertility. This revolutionary index designates sires with the genetics to improve income over feed costs and maintain health and reproductive traits. ®
GrazingPRO World Wide Sires’ GrazingPRO sires are selected to improve the profitability of grass-based production systems by transmitting greater longevity, better mobility, moderate stature, improved component yields, and superior production - all while not compromising fitness traits such as Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR) and Somatic Cell Score (SCS). ®
RobotPRO World Wide Sires has identified sires that transmit the desired traits for robotic milking systems. These sires were selected by focusing on component and milk yield, milk quality, udder health as well as functional udder traits. Use these sires to create the next generation of profitable cows for your specific milking system.

Somatic Cell Count (SCS) – Measures a bull’s milking daughter’s susceptibility to mastitis. The USA herd average is set to 3.00 (as zero) with lower proof values indicating lower somatic cell count. Longevity (Productive Life) – A score used to identify the productive months of life a cow will have compared to herd mates. A PL of 1.0 equates to one additional month of production in the herd. PL gives the greatest weight to the first 305 days (10 months) of lactation, as cows are most profitable and productive in early lactation.

Sire Conception Rate (SCR) – This is not a genetic trait, but measures the fertility of the bull. An SCR of 1.0 indicates a 1% increase in conception rate when compared to average.

INDEXES
See page 24 for descriptions for each of these designation icons. Bulls must meet certain criteria to receive each individual designation.
Calving Ease (SCE) – This is the estimate of the Percentage of Difficult Births in Heifers (DBH) when they calve the first time. The average for the Holstein breed is 2.2%. Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR) – Measures the cow’s ability to begin cycling, show estrus, conceive and maintain pregnancy and is highly correlated with PL. A DPR of 1.0 equates to a 1% increase in pregnancy rate during a given 21 day estrus cycle. Every 1.0 PTA increase in DPR indicates 4 fewer days open.
Jan-24 Run
Predicted Transmitting Ability (PTA) Milk, Fat & Protein – Predicts the average production of the sire’s future daughters above or below the breed genetic base for Milk lbs, Fat lbs & Protein lbs per lactation.
PRODUCTION
BW figure presented by percentile of breed against enrolled sires with codes from 2014 included in the 4th Dam: Melarry Mogul19 Freck-ET EX-90AE run. Jan 2024 HEALTH AND FERTILITY TRAITS
Gestation Length (GL) – Expressed as the number of days greater than or less than the average gestation length for the breed. The typical range is +/-5 days. In general, gestation length has decreased over time for breeds that have selected for lower calving ease (i.e. Holstein), as calving ease and gestation length are highly correlated. Gestation Length is available for all dairy breeds. US is 5 days shorter than NZ average (277 US, 282 days NZ).
Percentile comparison within breed as designated by Active. Foreign and Genomic Status by NAAB in the December 2023 proof run.
Milking Speed – Canadian Breeding Value that expresses the expected milking speed for a bull’s daughters when compared to the average milking speed for the population. 100 is standardized to the average of the population and breed, with numbers above 100 indicating faster than average milking speeds. Feed Saved – Indicates the expected reduction of consumed feed per lactation based on evaluations for residual feed intake and body weight composite. Measured in pounds of dry matter intake. PHYSICAL TRAIT EVALUATION
Wellness (WT$): Places economic weights on wellness traits, directly estimating potential profit contribution of these traits for an individual animal. This multi-trait selection index focuses solely on wellness traits with unique formulas used for Holsteins and Jerseys for Mastitis, Lameness, Metritis, Retained Placenta, Displaced Abomasum, Ketosis and Cow Respiratory.
