CAREERS BULLETIN Year 11 Work Experience Programme Monday 2 – Friday 6 July 2018 Year 11 students are encouraged to source a work placement during work experience week or they can alternatively undertake National Citizen Service (NCS) during the summer holiday. Further details are available on the school website, as well as a work experience letter for employers and a work experience application form. Both the letter and the application form should be sent to the employer for completion once the placement has been sourced and confirmed. Please make sure that the fully completed, signed and dated form is returned to the careers office by Monday 30 April 2018. Employability or work-readiness is becoming increasingly important to universities and employers. While qualifications remain essential, with very few exceptions they are no longer the only consideration. Students can use the evidence gleaned from work experience and / or NCS to reflect on what they have learned and to consider the types of skills they have developed as a result. They can reflect on how it changed their expectations of a subject or profession all of which provides credible evidence for a personal statement and tangible examples for a future job interview.
