INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS Squash

Athletics Jemima Copeman (Y9 T1) is now ranked 2nd in the UK at U15 for 300m with a time of 42.11 seconds. A fantastic achievement, especially with a broken thumb! Best of luck for the athletics season ahead.

Karate Jessica Lyford (Y9 N8) received her black belt in Karate in December and is working towards her first Dan in the coming months. Well done Jessica on all the hard work and training that has gone into achieving such a high level. Good luck going forward.

Ultimate Frisbee GB competitions await Dana Issa (Y10 A9) who has been selected for the U17 GB Ultimate Frisbee team. A fantastic achievement. Also, 5 of our Sixth Form students attended the U20 GB trials in Coventry this month. They had a great day of coaching, games, and fitness drills. All of the girls were successful and have been selected for the 2nd round of trials, a residential weekend in March. If selected, they could be off to Poland in August for an international tournament. Well done Ciara Bignell (Y13 A1) Tabi Caroe (Y13 B5) Emmy Gaca (Y13 B9) Freya Elliot (Y12 P6) Katie Parry (Y12 C10) and good luck for the next stage of trials.

Gina Mullis (Y8 N9) has been selected for the Bucks U13 team. They recently took part in the Inter County Cup in Nottingham and beat numerous counties along with Lancashire in the semifinal and then Yorkshire in the final, to become National Team Champions, a first for Bucks.

TEAM SUCCESS Gymnastics Well done to our U19 and U14 Gym Squads who competed in the Southern Regional Finals at the end of January. Both teams did exceptionally well especially considering how young the girls are (Y7, 9 and 11) and the U19 team came away with an impressive Bronze medal. Special mention to Poppy Whelehan (Y7 P10) who scored a perfect 16 out of 16 for her floor routine for the U19 team.

Squash Both our U19 and U15 teams are off to the National Finals in Nottingham on 8/9 March. This is an incredible achievement and we wish them the best of luck.

HOCKEY MASTERCLASS Our senior hockey girls and selected juniors have been attending a series of lunchtime masterclasses with current GB Mens Hockey Player, Phil Roper. These are a great opportunity for the girls to receive expert coaching and an insight into the life and training schedule of an Olympic athlete.

Alumnae V Staff and Student Hockey Match We are very excited to be holding an Alumnae V Staff and Student Hockey Match on Thursday 21 April 7.00 pm at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre. If you attended the school and still play hockey then please get in touch and be part of the team. We hope this will become an annual event with the 2017 match being played on our own pitch.

Staff v Student Badminton Staff and students battled it out in an International Badminton tournament on Friday 12 February. Each team represented a different country and the staff team representing India won overall. £100 was raised by participants and spectators. Great effort from all.

Teacher Feature Mrs Cromie has challenged herself to hill running, having completed 16 hard km to date. She finds it very rewarding but extremely challenging. Mrs Morgan is walking, swimming, jogging and rowing. She was trained in her new sport of rowing by a Year 12 student who competed this past summer with the Junior GB Rowing Team. Mrs Morgan is attempting to complete a marathon in all of these sports. Please support Mrs Morgan by visiting her JustGiving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/DanaMorgan
