WYCOMBE HIGH SCHOOL

SPORTS BULLETIN Autumn 2015 Welcome to the Sports Bulletin, a monthly update of our achievements. Last year Wycombe High School achieved a place in the top 30 most successful State Sports Schools, a position we are immensely proud of. This is a testament to the hard work of the students and the PE Department. This year is proving no different!

Golf

Badminton

Allie Holtom Y7 recently came 1st in the Oxford Girls Championships, 2nd in the Henley Girls open and in half term she won the ‘Nicola Sparks Memorial 9 hole Stableford Trophy’ She also attended a coaching day with Mel Reid that was televised on Sky. Well done Allie.

Hockey

The winter league is commencing shortly and we hope to maintain our League Winners title.

Cross Country The Intermediate team came 5th on 71 points and the Junior team came 7th on 102 points at the Regional Championships. Just missing out on qualifying for the finals by 4 points.

Congratulations to Jemima Copeman Y9 who has been selected for the U15 England HiPac, High Performance Assessment Camp. She has attended Fencing a 3 day residential camp as part of the process. A Bethan Metcalfe great achievement. recently competed in the Netball Berks, Bucks & Oxon County Polly Fencing Union, Campanini, Mia Annual Foil Pierce, Lucy competition and Herritty Y10 came 1st in the have all been girls U14 group. selected for the U19 Regional Netball Squad.


Frisbee

Swimming

The Ultimate Frisbee Regional Championships are taking place on 14 November in Kettering. We won this last year so are hoping for a great result this year too.

We won the Divisional Championships for the 2nd year in a row and broke another record! The team are off to the National Relay Finals at the Aquatics Centre in the Olympic Park on 21 November. The Intermediate Medley team are ranked 2nd so prospects are good for a National Final medal.

Hockey U14 team have qualified for the National Schools Regional Finals on 17 Nov.

Squash U19s have won 2 Regional rounds en route to National Finals and have 1 more to go!

Netball U14 team have qualified for the National Schools Regional Finals.

NEXT MONTH……. ‘Team Wycombe High School’ Santa Fun Run Report. Updates on our success at County trials for individuals in Netball, Hockey & Cricket. Results from our Football, Fencing, Cricket and Gymnastics events.

Rugby We have 3 players who have been selected for the County Squad, well done to Rachel Herbert Y9, Ciara Higley Y10 and Lola Curtis Y11. We are training regularly and looking to combine with Sir William Ramsay and Highcrest Academy to create a cluster club.
