CHARITY GALA DINNER & SPORTS AWARDS FRIDAY 6 MAY

Alisa Sydykova (Y9, T7) gained a silver medal with Micklefield Judo Club at the recent Southern Area Open Championships. A great performance.

Join us at the WHS sports event of the year hosted by Gabby Logan. This black tie evening of awards and sporting celebration is shaping up to be an event to remember! It will be at Wycombe Old Town Hall with tickets priced at ÂŁ45 per adult and ÂŁ25 per student. Students can only attend with an adult/parent. Tickets on sale at: www.thelittleboxoffice.com/ whs.

INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS Athletics Jemima Copeman (Y9, T1) has started her season well with a new PB and club record in Javelin, 33.22m that places her at No1 in the UK for U15.

Badminton Imogen Fernandes (Y12, C6) competed at the National Championships with the Bucks U17 team. They were overall winners out of 37 counties. What an achievement!

Hockey Gaby Crosby (Y9, P3) is off to the National Hockey Finals at the Olympic Park with her U14 Reading Hockey Club team. They won their county and regional round and will now compete against the top 7 teams on 15 May. We wish you the best of luck and enjoy the experience.

Swimming Sophie Millen (Y12, P7) and Millie Sansome (Y10, T4) recently competed in the British Championships / Olympic Qualifiers in Glasgow. Both girls achieved PB times in all their events. Sophie placed 3rd in 400m freestyle and Mille Placed 5th in the U15 year olds, missing 3rd place by 0.1. We are all very proud of your accomplishments.

TEAM SUCCESS Cricket The U13 & U15 teams competed in the Lady Taverners Indoor cricket county championships. The U15s narrowly lost out but the U13s were crowned county champions and progressed to the Regional Finals. They travelled to Surrey on 18 April and played some fantastic cricket. Losing in the semi final to the eventual winners. In the end our girls finished 4th out of 8 counties, a good result considering the quality of the opposition. Congratulations to the whole team - we are still Champions of Buckinghamshire!

INTERNATIONAL VISITORS Last week we hosted Loreto Normanhurst Girls School from Sydney, Australia as part of their UK Sports Tour. Our Senior Football and Netball teams played a series of fixtures and were great hosts. Thank you to all the parent helpers.

U15 Football Teams

They won the South Region League and will now compete as one of the top 18 teams in the country. Best of luck to Lucy and the team we look forward to hearing how you get on.

PLAY YOUR PART SPORT CAMPAIGN UPDATE Old Girls Hockey Match

Sport-a-thon

Staff and students were sponsored to complete the distance of a marathon over 3 months, January to March. People ran, walked, rowed, skied, snow boarded, danced, cycled and swam nearly 1,900 miles. To date we have raised £3,500 and counting. Please return your sponsorship forms On Thursday 21 April at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre the current Students and Staff played against the Old to the Finance Office if you haven't done so already. It is not Girls of Wycombe High to mark the 105 year anniversary of too late to sponsor staff participants that have websites (https://www.justgiving.com/MissSnookPentathlonMarathon, the Old Girls Hockey Association and raise funds for the campaign. The match was well attended and the players put https://www.justgiving.com/runhoustonrun and https:// on a great display of hockey at the school through the years. www.justgiving.com/Dana-Morgan). Any donation, of any size, would be gratefully received. Mrs Cromie started the match and the old girls scored first and found the net several times in the first half and the current girls scored from a penalty flick. The half time oranges did their job and both teams came back out refreshed and ready for more goals, 1 for the old girls and 2 for the current team. Trophies were awarded afterwards, with the Old Girls being crowned champions. Everyone enjoyed swapping stories over cakes and refreshments. A great evening and £400 raised.
