Holiday Spirit of tHe SpartanS

The weeks leading up to Winter Break were filled with festivities for all at Triumph High School. When visitors entered the building, a large, 16 foot tree welcomed them. Each village was decorated with an array of holiday decorations. Christmas trees around the building were all adorned with unique touches from staff and students alike. Classroom doors were covered in butcher paper displaying the festive spirit and creativity. Science teacher, Amy Schick, mentioned “The “O’ Chemis-tree” outside of her science classroom has been a fun tradition to continue.” The tree features the first 22

elements of the periodic table in the shape of a tree. The Math village featured a tree filled with individual student’s stockings. The Social Studies village featured Grinch theme holiday sayings and décor. The English village displayed Krampus as well as lights, paper snowflakes, and ornaments hanging from the ceiling. All the hallways were draped with red and white chain link paper garland strung throughout the building. According to Jen McKee, “This year the decorating had great participation and unique ideas. The whole building was very festive.”

day gift exchange. All students gathered in the gym as staff members handed a gift to each student on their way in. They formed a large circle around the outside of the gym. Once the group was quiet, librarian Kami Whitlock, read the classic, The Night Before Christmas, by Clement Clarke Moore. Whenever Whitlock read the word ‘the’ students had to pass the gift to the right. After the last two words, “The End” were read, students were able to keep the gift and open it or trade with a friend. Becca Burton said, “It was pretty cool to be at a school where every student was given a gift. I received a Starbucks mug but traded it with another student for a McDonald’s gift card.” Students were seen trading gifts even after they opened theirs. Paraprofessional Jarod Gains added, “The exchange was a lot of fun for the students which made it much easier to manage as a staff member.” The gifts consisted of sketch/coloring books, mugs, gift cards, fidgets, Play-doh, brain games, candy, and a variety of other food items. Lots of laughs and fun were had by all.

The Cheyenne Dance Club will hold a Big Band Dance on Saturday, January 14, 7:00pm10:00pm, at Little America Hotel and Resort, 2800 West Lincolnway. The dance theme will be 2023 Glitter and Spice. The Cheyenne Dance Club is a nonprofit club dedicated to the preservation of Big Band Music and Ballroom Dancing. To have an ideal date night you need flowers, candy, a romantic dinner and such, but what else? Come learn the secrets to make your next date night one to remember. If you have been with someone very long, you may notice the excitement of the first few dates decreases over time. You may find yourself at dinner looking at your phone more than your date because the phone is more interesting. For some couples, they just don’t have much to talk about unless it is their kids or money and that is not very romantic for date night. What can a man do to craft an ideal date night? It usually begins with remembering the date night or making dinner reservations. But what else? This is the meat of what will be shared during the program on Thursday, January 19, 6:30pm-8:00pm, at Grace United Methodist Church, 2950 Spruce Drive, inside Grace Hall. Teamwork, fundamentals and friendly competition are being served up this spring for the upcoming Youth Co-Rec Volleyball program. Laramie County DUI Victim Impact Panel will be held January 30. All panels are held at LCCC in the Center for Conferences, room 130, 1400 East College Drive, start time is 6:30pm and cost is $40 cash at the door for those required to attend.
