DUI Victim Impact Panel The Mission of the Laramie County DUI Victim Impact Panel is to stop drunken and drugged driving and to create awareness regarding the tragic consequences of this event. The weather around Cheyenne began the winter fairly mild, but the winter is only increasing in intensity, to the point where people began pushing for delayed starts for schools. Instead of completely stopping school on snow days, parents, teachers, and many others are saying that it would be better to just start a little later, so that people that walk or catch a bus can still make it in time for class. Snow days often can change the entire curriculum for a class, because each class has a set plan for what the class will do each day, but if an unexpected snow day comes along, then teachers are forced to reevaluate their curriculum for possibly the whole year! Other than this large problem, snow days often add up, leading to increased school years, and shorter summers to make up for those earliermentioned curriculum changes. As shown by the early release for most students on Monday, January 8th, the ice and snow of the season can bring complications towards the staff and students. The mentioned event caused 73 bus students to be sent home early to avoid being at school without the busses, however, there were a number of other students that also left using their own vehicles. This event shows that weather has a large impact on our school and its working schedule. Even though the students that left only missed fourth period and roughly 10-15

minutes of third period, that’s still an entire class that they will have to find the time to make up for. The snow and other bad weather can bring large amounts of complications towards both students and staff. In previous years, snow days haven’t been a major problem, with a couple of snow days sprinkled throughout the winter months, however this year, there is an arctic blast sweeping the nation, causing much worse weather conditions than in previous years. The winds are stronger, the fog thicker, and the ice more slippery than seen for quite a few years. While there hasn’t been much snowfall this year, the other cold issues are extremely apparent. This winter is shaping up to be a very cold one, compared to the winters of the past. As said, 2015’s winter is only growing worse as the days go by, with students and staff having to change key parts of their classes to accommodate for it. The students have more work pushed on them if they miss school, and Cheyenne’s current weather is threatening to take away days of school, leading to more intense work and less time to complete things before the semester ends. This weather could also lead to an increase of school days at the end of the year, and less summer days. This weather is giving the school many problems, and if the weather gets bad enough, then it’ll be a cold semester.

Seedling Trees Our Community www.wyotraders.com Cheyenne Gun Show The Cheyenne Gun Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, January 24-25, at the Cheyenne Rifle and Pistol Club Indoor Range, 2621 East 7th Street. Youth Spring Soccer Registration In person registration for the 2015 Cheyenne Soccer Club Spring Season will be held from 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, January 24, at the Frontier Mall in front of Sports Authority.
