Triumph students, teachers, and programs are demonstrating the value and importance of the alternative high school and its effectiveness in producing well-educated, well-adjusted students who have blossomed and have great potential after high school.

This year’s DECA competition in Casper on February 4-6 saw five-year veteran coach Leigh Ann Ojeda and her duo of competitors from Triumph spend some time in the winner’s circle. Students Colby Miller and Grace Owen submitted a team project titled “Community Giving Project” which earned them the fourth-place spot in that competition. Their community project was to raise money and collect donations to put together backpacks full of necessary supplies for the homeless residents of Cheyenne. Owen and Miller completed this project last spring and donated 25 filled backpacks to the Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless in May of 2023.
Despite this being Owen’s first time in this competition, and despite her claiming, “I didn’t think I was gonna win; I just wanted to compete and see what I could do,” she won Top Performer for her written exam in

Chicken Curling Tournament
Back for its ninth year, Cheyenne Ice and Events Center’s Chicken Curling Tournament is set for 2024, and registration is now open for the event. Chicken curling is exactly what it sounds like — the sport of curling, but with donated, expired frozen chickens instead of stones. Teams of four compete to win the contest in a double elimination format, and spectators are encouraged to attend. The 2024 Chicken Curling Tournament will be held at the Cheyenne Ice and Events Center, 1530 West Lincolnway on Saturday, March 23 at noon. Registration is open until Wednesday, March 20. Teams must have four members, all over 18 years old, and are encouraged to come up with a witty name and may wear costumes to the event. Registration Open for Girls’ Fast Pitch Softball
Teamwork, fundamentals and friendly competition are on deck for the Girls’ Recreational Fast Pitch Softball program this summer, and registration is now open. This program will feature age divisions ranging from under 8 to under 18. Players must be no younger than 6 and no older than 18 on June 5, 2024. Registration is open until March 28 at a cost of $65 per player. Late registration runs from March 29 to April 11. All registration closes after April 11. Practices begin May 13 and regular season starts June 5. Volunteer coaches are also needed. Submissions Sought for Zonta Club Art Contest
Zonta Club of Cheyenne is seeking entries from artists of all ages and style and experience for its 9th Annual Art Contest. This year’s theme is Art Against Abuse. Artists are asked to convey their unique vision of how to promote positive change given the multifaceted impact of domestic violence and human trafficking on victims, their families and our community. Submissions must be dropped off at the RE/MAX office at 4000 Central Avenue in Cheyenne no later than 4:00pm on April 1. Include your name, contact information, age category and price, if for sale, with each submission. A brief interpretive commentary on the art is also welcomed but not required. A reception for the artists, their families and the general public will be held on April 15 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Cheyenne Civic Center.
