On Tuesday February 22nd, 2022, Triumph students had the opportunity to learn new cooking skills from the After School for Kids (ASK) program. Andrea Weideman and Kylie Griego, from ASK, will be offering culinary classes every Tuesday at Triumph until March 16th. Weidman and Griego taught Triumph students how to take microwavable ramen noodles and turn it into a delectable dish. Adding soft-boiled eggs, sautéed chicken, heated vegetables, and home-made broth elevated the dish. Students got the privilege to turn something plain into something tastier and healthier. The good food was accompanied by a lot of laughter and excitement. The ASK program offers this culinary

class once a week after school.

By: Theo Koonce Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) is a non-profit organization that works to create entrepreneurs at a high school and college level. This year, approximately 500 students participated at the State DECA Competition held in Cheyenne. Five students represented Triumph High School at the State competition. Ajalei Peebles, who performed in the category ‘Principles of Hospitality and Tourism’, where she

demonstrated her skills in a conversation format. Louis Grizzel competed in ‘Food Service Marketing’ where he performed a roleplay. Isaiah Castaneda competed in ‘Principles of Marketing’ where he discussed how marketing a website can improve a business. Johnny Cornwall competed in Personal Financial Literacy, where he gave financial budgeting advice to a teenager, preparing to move onto their own. After the 5 Triumph students competed at the DECA state competition, 4 students have qualified for the National Competition in Atlanta, GA in April. These 4 students are: Dayten Halsey (2nd place), Johnny Cornwall (5th Place), Ajalei Peebles (5th Place) and Isaiah Castaneda (5th Place). Congratulations to the Leigh Ann Ojeda, Triumph’s Business Teacher, and to the Triumph DECA participants who made it to Nationals! Good luck! You got this! Congratulations to Dayten Halsey, for placing second!

Public Schools Chronicle BlooD Drive On February 8th, 2022, Triumph, along with Vitalant, hosted its annual Blood Drive. Twenty-one staff and students donated blood. Amy Schick, Triumph Science Teacher, and four National Honor Society (NHS) members helped with the blood drive. Due to COVID, Triumph hasn’t been able to host a blood drive since 2020. NHS students worked ahead of time to spark interest and spread the word. The day of the drive, the students helped sign doners in, get them set up, and give them snacks. Emily Torres, NHS member, who

helped with the blood drive, “I wasn’t expecting that many people to come in and donate, so I would say it was a success” (Torres)!
