LCSD1 students create art inspired by music

Art and music are intertwined throughout our daily lives. They can appear separately, but they can also work together to create something imaginative.

Laramie County School District 1 seventh through 12th grade art students were given the opportunity to showcase their creativity by creating art inspired by music.

Students were provided with a song selected by

the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra to serve as inspiration for an original work of art. This year’s selection was Crouching Tiger Concerto for Cello and Chamber Orchestra by Tan Dun.

The artwork captures what the students heard and felt while listening to the piece. The art was judged by community members based on how the music was portrayed using different art mediums.

LCCC: Slidin’ Daze Ranch Horse Roundup

Laramie County Community College invites the community to an evening that marries competitive spirit with musical flair. Teams of four compete to win the contest in a double elimination format, and spectators are encouraged to attend. Jackalope Jump

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wyoming and Special Olympics of Wyoming will host the Special Olympics of Wyoming Jackalope Jump on April 13 at the Lions Park Kiwanis Building, 4603 Lions Park Drive. Registration Open for Girls’ Fast Pitch Softball

Teamwork, fundamentals and friendly competition are on deck for the Girls’ Recreational Fast Pitch Softball program this summer, and registration is now open. This program will feature age divisions ranging from under 8 to under 18. Players must be no younger than 6 and no older than 18 on June 5, 2024. Registration is open until March 28 at a cost of $65 per player. Late registration runs from March 29 to April 11. All registration closes after April 11. Practices begin May 13 and regular season starts June 5. Volunteer coaches are also needed. Registration can be completed online at www.cheyennerec.org or in person at the Kiwanis Community House, 4603 Lions Park Drive. United Way of Laramie County’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) will offer free tax preparation and electronic filing by appointment only.
