WAKAME is an edible seaweed, brown in color, farmed in Japan for over a thousand years. WAKAMES have a sweet avor and are typically served in soups and salads. KOMBU is another edible seaweed popular in Japan, as is NORI. SEAWEED is actually a form of ALGAE, and some species are edible while others are not. 2019 Plein Air in the Parks Artist Registration Plein Air in the Parks is a collaborative weekend event presented by Wyoming State Parks, the Wyoming Arts Council, and the Lander Art Center. It takes place Thursday-Sunday, September 1215, at Sinks Canyon State Park, Lander, WY. This painting and drawing competition pairs talented artists with beautiful locations and offers cash prizes to top participants. Registration for youth and adult categories is now open and available online at https://2019pleinairintheparks.event brite.com. Early bird registration is available now through August 15 and is $35 for artists. Regular and walk up registration after August 15 will be $50. A reduced rate for college students is available for $15 and a youth division rate for those under the age of 18 is available for $5. Artists will have the option of selling pieces produced at the event during the reception. The public is invited to attend a reception on Sunday, September 15 and cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award, $250 cash award, and purchase artwork produced during the event. Proper Disposal of Broken Tree Branches & Limbs If residents are members of the City’s yard waste program, broken tree branches and limbs can be picked up free of charge by the Cheyenne Sanitation Division. DO NOT place tree branches or limbs in your yard waste container. Tree limbs and branches are not compostable and are considered contamination when mixed with yard waste. Instead, ensure discarded branches and limbs are cut to no more than four feet in length and placed on your curb for pick-up. Once this is done, please call the Sanitation Division at (307)637-6440 to complete your free pick-up. Residents who are not part of the yard waste program may utilize this pick-up service as well, but will be charged an extra pickup fee which is currently $35.10 for up to one cubic yard. Branches must be no more than four feet in length and placed on your curb. Residents may also take branches and limbs to the Cheyenne Compost Facility, 3714 Windmill Road, free of charge.
