Local Scout Troops

Rummage Sale Fundraiser

Three local scout groups are scheduled to hold a rummage sale on Saturday, August 24, from 8:00am-1:00pm. The location of the sale will be the parking lot of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church located at 218 East 19th Street. There will be a variety of items offered for sale: musical equipment, household items, camping equipment and more; with donations having come from all corners of the community. The proceeds will be used to support the general operations of BSA Troop 101 (boys), BSA Troop 1869 (girls), and Venture Crew 101 (co-ed) in order to minimize the costs paid by the individual scouts. The BSA program is available for youth ages 11-17 and it strives to teach survival skills, self-confidence and ethics through outdoor and other activities. The Venturing Scout program is available for youth ages 14-20 teaching leadership skills through youth-led programs. 3rd Annual Joint Service Club Food Drive

The Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary, Rotaract and Zonta Clubs of Cheyenne have come together to sponsor a food drive Saturday, August 24, from 9:00am3:00pm to support two local food banks, Laramie County Community College’s FNBO Food Pantry, www.lccc.wy.edu/life/foodPantry.aspx and Veterans’ Rock, www.veteransrockchey.org/. Food will be collected at Albertsons (Yellowstone Road), King Soopers (Dell Range) and Safeway. Collections will be taken outside at the front of each grocery store by volunteers from the participating service clubs. All non-perishable donations will be accepted. However, some of the items in high demand include canned chili or soup, canned meat or tuna, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, ramen noodles, cereal and granola bars. A list of the most sought-after items will be available at each collection point. Cash donations will not be solicited during this food drive, but monetary donations may be sent to any of the individual food pantries. Contact information for each of the participating service organizations will also be available at the food donation collection points. These organizations welcome inquiries from those looking for community service opportunities and seek to grow their membership by showing their dedication to making the world better for others.
