City Provides Update on New Traffic Signals
As the school year begins, drivers will notice new traffic signals near several Cheyenne schools. At Powderhouse Road and Carlson Street, the new full traffic signal has been activated. Drivers should use caution in the area and keep in mind that the new Coyote Ridge Elementary School will create new traffic patterns. Work to install two new HAWK signals is finishing at Pershing Boulevard and McCann Avenue and Western Hills Boulevard and Moccasin Avenue. HAWK signals provide a more protected crossing for pedestrians and bicyclists and in these two cases, upgrade existing crosswalks. Drivers should always use caution in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
Labor Day Bus Schedule

Girls On The Run Needs Volunteer Coaches!
Girls on the Run of Wyoming’s coach registration is now open! Register by September 3rd for this volunteer coaching opportunity! Throughout the season, volunteer coaches utilize a structured curriculum to engage teams in fun and interactive lessons. Teams meet twice a week for 75-90 minutes and the program culminates with a celebratory 5K event to provide girls with a tangible sense of accomplishment. The non-profit organization is currently seeking volunteer coaches to facilitate the program and provide critical leadership to its participants. Coaches do not need to be athletes, but are required to be a minimum of eighteen years old to serve as an assistant or 21 years old to serve as a head coach. All volunteer coaches must complete a background check and participate in pre-season training sessions. “Veterans Remembrance Memorial” is accepting donations and sponsorships to place a permanent Vietnam Wall here in Cheyenne, WY. The total cost of The Wall is $175,000 plus $25,000 for the trailer, which also serves as an education center for our POW-MIA and Veterans. This Vietnam Wall is an 80% replica of the wall in Washington DC. The wall is 365 feet long and 8 feet high, and will have lights and flags, along with benches. It will be a special place to hold ceremonies and honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country and freedom, and help those that have brothers, sisters or family members whose names are on it. If you would like to become a sponsor: your company or name will be on the permanent sponsor plaque and a personal sponsor plaque for you or your company.
