Xanthan

XANTHAN(S) gum is produced by fermenting two kinds of sugars, GLUCOSE and SUCROSE, together. Discovered in the early 1960s by a chemical researcher, it is used in salad dressings and sauces to prevent oil separation. It stabilizes EMULSION, though it is not itself an EMULSIFIER. Do not confuse XANTHAN with XANTHATE(S), a salt that is used to produce CELLOPHANE. Another useful chemical is XANTHENE(S), which is used in a variety of dyes. The reason these words have the prefix “xanth” is because it’s from the Greek for “yellow,” and each of these chemicals is yellow in color.

Cars, Cigars and Guitars Under the Stars

Local Charities will again benefit from the car show at The Greek Ponderosa Car Corral, 10013 Wayne Road! Classic Car enthusiasts will raise funds for 5 local charities at the second annual classic car show “Cars, Cigars and Guitars under the stars” on September 11. The event website is carscigarsguitars.com. Raising funds for Girls on the Run, Comea Shelter, Skills USA, K9’s for Mobility and Unaccompanied Students Initiative, the permitted event also conforms to all CDC and local health guidelines for social distancing. This event is a volunteer effort by Cheyenne AHEPA Cowboy Chapter 211. This private event requires pre-paid Classic Car Applications and Guest Event Tickets. Organizers have established this annual event as the premier charity classic car show in the Tri-State Region. A major fundraising feature is a chance to win a brand new Kawasaki W800 Cafe motorcycle. Tickets are $25 each and only 2,000 tickets will be sold, drawing is September 11 at the event. Tickets are available from the charities and Cheyenne Motorsports, 2000 Westland Road.
