Let’s raise a toast to Rita Meyer in recognition of her lifelong devotion and selfless service to our beloved Wyoming Community. I took notice of their selfless service and as resources and time would allow, I have worked hard to emulate their service to others.” A future for us all: Meyer believes there are so many opportunities in the Cheyenne community to serve. She encourages anyone looking to get involved to seek out service work that they are passionate about and just jump in! “Don’t be shy, even if you haven’t volunteered in the past. Everyone was a beginner at one time. Start small and grow your capacity to serve others. There is nothing more rewarding,” said Meyer. ■

They will also highlight the new University of Wyoming WYOBIRD program (Wyoming Bird Initiative for Resilience and Diversity) a goal of which is to build avian ecology skillsets in UW students through hands-on experiences like a fall migration banding station and tree swallow nest box monitoring. On Friday, October 27, the Cheyenne Police Department will host a Trunk or Treat celebration in front of the Cheyenne Public Safety Center, 415 West 18th Street. This fun, family-friendly event will begin at 5:00pm and last until 7:00pm. Families and friends are invited to enjoy an evening of trick or treating from vehicle trunks supported by police officers, Laramie County Communication Center dispatchers and community members. The event will feature free candy, food trucks, DJ music from Cheyenne Police Officer Inman and appearances from specialty police units including the Cheyenne Police/Laramie County joint SWAT Team, K9 Unit and more! Costumes are encouraged.

Wild West Trunk or Treat

The CFD Old West Museum will be hosting its annual Wild West Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 28 from 1:00pm-3:00pm in the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ C-Lot, at 4610 Carey Avenue. This is a fun family outing that will include food trucks and construction equipment. To make this possible, they are looking to the community to donate candy or sponsor a trunk. The Christmas Cruise will take place on Saturday, November 4 beginning at 10:00am at the Walmart parking lot, 3032 Dell Range Boulevard and ending at approximately 11:30am at the David Romero Activity Center at 1316 Parsley Boulevard.
