Navigating Laramie 1 accepting

Community members and parents who are interested in learning more about Laramie County School District 1 are encouraged to apply for LCSD1’s community outreach program, Navigating Laramie 1. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 13, 2024.

Through monthly, threehour educational activities, participants will learn more about the district, make connections and increase their involvement with the district and its schools. The program courses will run from 9 a.m.–noon on the following dates:

• Academic Learning Session 1— March 13, 2025

Africa MAAFA Remembrance Day

The 13th Africa MAAFA Remembrance Day Conference is set for October 19 and will be held from 8:30am-11:50am at Laramie County Community College, Union Pacific Rooms, 1400 East College Drive. The Wyoming State Museum is seeking volunteers for their Halloween event on Sunday, October 27. Every year, the Museum hosts a trick-ortreat event that is attended by hundreds of local families! During this event, kids wear costumes to trick-or-treat around the museum and meet historic Wyoming characters played by volunteers. The role requires somewhat outgoing personalities who are comfortable acting as a character from Wyoming’s past. You’ll be provided with a costume as well as talking points and items from the museum collection to show off. Families love meeting the characters and asking them about their lives. The event will be on Sunday, October 27 from 12:00pm4:00pm. Volunteer shifts begin at 11:00am and end at 4:30pm. Volunteers will get a pizza lunch at 11:30am and will receive a 15 minute break during the event. Celebratory Dinner of 100 Years of Eagle Scouts

A centennial celebration of Cheyenne Eagle Scouts will be held on the evening of Friday, October 25 at the LCCC Clay Pathfinder Building, 1400 East College Drive. Everyone is invited to join the celebration and honor those who have achieved this important milestone in Scouting BSA. The doors will open at 5:00pm and an hour of pre-dinner activities will include trivia games, demonstrations of Scout skills, socializing and a cash bar. There will be something to educate and entertain for all ages. A plated chicken piccata dinner will be served about 6:00pm followed by a keynote speaker.
