Bison Marching Band

On October 15th, 2022, the Cheyenne South High Marching Band competed in the Wyoming State Marching Band competition at the Ford Center in Casper, Wyoming. The competition consisted of 17 bands from all over the state and 6 adjudicators: two Music Judges, two Vi sual Judges, two Percussion Judges, and one Color Guard Judge. Each of these Judges gives the bands individual scores based on their specialty, which then goes into their overall score. Each marching band receives a rating which can either be 3: Good, 2: Excellent, or 1: Superior. The bands also have the chance to receive caption awards, which highlight the band’s specific strong suits/

sections. The South High band has been working on their 2022 show “Desert Winds” by Gary P. Gilroy since August 2022. The show features trumpet players Emma Cortez and Dillon Smith as well as an electric wind instrument solo fea turing Jason Giguere. The band is direct ed by Gino Hernandez and is led by drum majors Dayonna Smith, Dillon Smith, and Hailey Schuman. The crowd was jam packed as the South High Marching Band performed around 6:00 PM and was the last band of the day to go on. The band received a Superior rating, as well as caption awards in woodwinds, percussion, marching, and music.

Jazz Night at CFD™ Old West Museum
