WELCOME

‘Some great highlights for Swindon including The Woman in Black and Porridge…’ The new Season at the Wyvern is packed with the best drama, music and comedy. I am particularly pleased that we shall be presenting, on its first visit to Swindon, West End spine-chiller The Woman in Black. So popular was muchloved actor Shaun Williamson in last year’s pantomime that we have secured his return – in a staging of the evergreen chart-topping television comedy Porridge. These two excellent shows are proof of our commitment to bringing the best in theatre to Swindon.

Nick Thomas

At the same time, we want your theatregoing experience at the Wyvern Theatre to be as memorable and comfortable as possible. In partnership with Swindon Borough Council, we have made substantial improvements to the building and its facilities, including creating a fine restaurant area in the upper foyer, and the complete refurbishment of the auditorium and the front-of-house areas. To keep the Wyvern in the best condition for your enjoyment, we are making a pledge that from February 2010, we shall spend £1.00 of the price paid for every ticket on the theatre building and its facilities and services. The Wyvern is rightly the heart of its community – a place to enjoy great shows and entertainment, but at the same time a place to celebrate, to meet friends and family, and to make a special occasion extra special. So to coincide with St Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day we are putting on special events for you and your loved ones to share.

Derek Aldridge

Wyvern Theatre Director Derek Aldridge and his team are always on hand to ensure that your theatregoing experience fulfils all your expectations. With all this thrilling entertainment on offer, we hope to see you soon, and often!

A street dance version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest DANCE The classic story of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is injected with a large dose of hip hop energy by Bounce. This exciting company is known for creating high energy, imaginative street-dance theatre, enjoying hit runs at both London’s Peacock Theatre and the Roundhouse. In the confines of a psychiatric hospital, breakdance becomes a way of expressing freedom and rebelling against the iron rule of Nurse Ratched – who happens to be a ballet fan. A fantastic soundtrack including hits by Missy Elliot, Dizzie Rascal, Gotan Project, David Holmes and Cypress Hill creates this fast-paced show that is at times funny, moving and always packed to the rafters with high-octane dance moves.

Rapier Wit

& The Cat That Looked Like Nicholas Lyndhurst

MUSIC The Bohemians re-enact the glory days of Queen singing the much-loved tunes including; We Will Rock You, Somebody to Love, A Kind of Magic, Radio Ga Ga, Bohemian Rhapsody and many more.

COMEDY A heady mix of artistic integrity, loyalty and avarice has put Jimmy back on the road.

COMEDY Following last year’s sell-out tour and sensational performances on The Royal Variety Performance, Live At The Apollo and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, the Welsh Wonder is back on the road with a brand-new show.

The band were the first Queen tribute to play support to Queen guitarist Brian May, who described the band as ‘brilliant’. Tickets £16.50

A ‘rapier’ is the long sword of a gentleman. ‘Rapier wit’ is defined as clever, quick, intelligent humour. Please note, Jimmy Carr doesn’t have ‘the long sword of a gentleman’ and even if you like him, ‘clever, quick and intelligent’ is a bit of a stretch. This performance is at the Oasis Leisure Centre.

Last year, he punched a shopassistant over the duvet tog-rating system and went berserk over a mince pie. Is he, as he believes, a visionary in a sea of closed minds, or has he, as everyone else believes, got anger-management problems?

Suitable for adults only.
