Few towns can boast such an attractive, large bay as Santander, the largest in the north of Spain. By invitation, it belongs to the select Club of the Most Attractive Bays in the World, it being the only Spanish bay to be included in this organization. Constantly changing and always beautiful, the light and wind predominate its wide array of contrasts. The to-ing and fro-ing of a host of fishing and sports vessels that ply the bay, especially in the sunny days of summer.

Selecting a town to be the headquarters for a congress is no easy task. Many options are open although there are few distinguishing factors between one town and another. Even so, there are some important points to be taken into account when it comes to making a choice in order to avoid making a mistake: the size of the town, the specific facilities available, the hotel and communications infrastructure and the ability to split the facilities for parallel events. As regards the size of the town, there is no doubt about the fact that a small town such as Santander has good, varied services, is comfortable for the organizer and conference participant alike; as far as specific facilities are concerned for holding the event, Santander has offers exceptionally attractive, well located scenarios such as the Royal Palace of La Magdalena, the Festival Hall and the Exhibition
Hall, on a par with the best buildings in the towns most called for. As for hotel capacity, Santander is an elegant, quality tourist town, drawing together a considerably sized hotel capacity to deal with such large scale events; communications in the Santander area have been substantially improved, especially with the rest of Spain and in air transport, with direct lines to a dozen towns and cities. Finally, the alternatives for enjoying free time at the congress are numerous. Cantabria is a region with an extremely wide range of activities just one hour away by car (golf, watersports, skiing, spa tourism, natural caves and cave painting, hiking, visiting the Liébana area, cable railway in the Europa Peaks, the Cabárceno Park, Artesantander…). All these good reasons and many more besides, such as its exceptionally attractive countryside, beaches and walks rank
Santander as one of the towns most preferred by organizers and participants. Over 500 events held each year back this statement. Santander currently has some 15,000 rooms shared out among some 15 hotel establishments, for congresses being held at the same time.
