SOME OF THE BEST DESIGNERS In the final year of college, my classmates and I worked hard on our graduation design project. By the time we finished, we took our project to the design award at the Taipei Word Trade Center. These photoes are taken to show the 52 designers of National Cheng Kung University Industrial Design. They were used on the walls of the exibition room and in the guide books. They are also a lovely searies to remember how we were at the age of 22. Two lights are used in this shooting. Set on both sides, in order to enhance facial features and seperate asian black hair from the backround.

SNAP SHOTS I like to capture the true emotions on people’s faces. The best photos are those who tell the most facinating stories. I always work hard to try to open the shutter at the best time so I could freeze people’s actions perfectly. Also, I like to take pictures when people aren’t aware of the camera, so they would express their enmotions more naturally. Photos on page 26 and 27 are stage photos taken for a short film. Potos on Page 28 to 33 are taken when I was waching performances or traveling.

MOVIE POSTER My friends and I shot a 40 minutes short film during college. I was the camera operator of the film. After filming, I was assigned to take a phtograph for the poster of the video. Before I took the picture, I had long discussions with my friend who was assigned to do the grafic design of the poster. And we are both satisfied about the outcome. The poster shows the loneliness of the boy, who rather spends time chatting online than have a real face-to-face coversation with his roomates. 228 PEACE MEMORIAL DAY 228 Peace Momorial Day is a national holiday in Taiwan. On Febuary 28th, 1945, the government brutally massacred at least 10,000 civilians and marked the begining of the Kuomintang’s White Terror period in Taiwan. However, the president who had the country’s army against it’s own people is still considered a nation’s hero 60 years later. And lots of his statues still stand on the campus of many schools. This year some of my friends dicided to put up some decorations to the statue. By using red paint as blood, and names of people who were killed in the massacre, we hope passers can have other thoughts about the history.
This photo was later shared for more than 250 times over facebook and printed out on several newspapers.

WORKERS AT AN ALUMINUM FACTORY These photoes are taken at an aluminum factory in Taiwan. It was kind of dark at the factory but the backlighting outlined the workers’ silhouette very well. Fabricating aluminum materials into cabinets can be quite dangerous, and the workers have to tolerate humid working environment. I took these photoes to show these hard working people.

DOORS AND WINDOWS San-ho-yuan, a central building with two wings attached perpendicular to either side, is the triditional building in Taiwan. I find them fascinate with all those beautiful colors and full of traces that show how the owners are having their lives here. Sadly, as population rises, such constructions are no longer enough for the citizen’s needs. More and more San-ho-yuans are tore down in order to build up apartments. I decided to take a series of photos to keep a record of these beautifal cultural houses. The project is still in process, I hope it could be an important historical data one day.

TRAVEL I always bring my camera with me while I travel. Spending time in a different city and experiencing the unique culture strengthen my senses. Makes me more sensitive. I also like to make handmade Christmas Cards every year, using the photos I took while traveling. It’s a good way to share the interesting things I saw with my friends.
