The Prairie Creek Recreation Area is a 273-acre site in Maquoketa, IA. During the growth of Maquoketa, the Prairie Creek Recreation Area has been marginalized through a history of land-use decisions and overall lack of recreational opportunities. Creating ecological connentions and new opportunities to rediscover this site. We aim to enhance ecological services of the city and create new recreational and social opportunities for eastern Iowa residents and visitors. GIS suitability analysis informed design opportunities for landscape configurations: utilizing landform, user programming, bike and pedestrians connections, planting strategies, recreational areas design, watershed management and erosion control.

PROPOSED SITE TRANSECT

GIS DATA+SITE ANALYSES

Site diagrams were the foundation for the design concept and organization of the site. The natural area network was developed by considering: watershed characteristic, biodiversity potential, and the goal of providing recreational opportunities. The concept strived to provide park access at key points, campground area and to provide a retreat from the busy city.

03. PRIVATE RESIDENT Dallas, TX

Project worked in Talley Associates Melding a mid-century modern style of architecture with an updated, contemporary landscape, the garden at north Dallas is an example of creating residential outdoor space with a sitesensitive and refined touch.

The idea of exhibiting a landscape that combines exquisite detail with the simplicity of architecture was the greatest challenge. With reverence for the midcentury modern aesthetic of the home, a lower planting carpet which is the mixing of Juncus effusus and indigofera decora was planted to optimize outline of architecture. The corten steel risers seamlessly extend the connection with the house and outdoor living area, creating the feeling of outdoor living area.

ENLARGEMENT PLAN

TASKS:

For this project, I have been worked on construction documents and planting design individuely. I was been able to optimize the idea from the first stages of the sketch and design to the final stage of the offered project to constructor. From the beginning I have been in contact with the clients, participating to all the meetings, and coordinate the meeting with the irrigation desiger and constructors.

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS

Dallas, TX

Project worked in Talley Associates 11- story office buildings and 13,950 square feet R&D facility have designs on Stonebriar Commons as Phase II design project. With a strong environmental vision for the office building in pursuing LEED certification, permeable paving and sustainable design have been introduced.

05. THE RIVER BEND

ULI STUDENT COMPETITION AND INDIVIDUAL WORK Location: Chicago Team: Zhahnluk Bose, Satya Ganesuni, Noel Gonzalez, Nathan McKewon, Xiao Cui Individual: Landscape design, Typology design Focusing on the existing canal and its tributaries, the landscape strategy improves water quality and rebuilds the biodiversity of the region's aquatic ecosystems. Air quality and thermal comfort are also enhanced through careful spatial configurations utilizing landform, planting strategies, waterbodies, and prevailing winds to create microclimates that contrast Chicago's stifling urban heat island. Adjacent development is also integrated, reconnecting the urban fabric on either side of the park. New transit lines that link the site to downtown Chicago establish urban entrances to the park that provide an opportunity for mixed-use destinations influenced by their adjacency to the park.

TYPOLOGIES OF RIVERFRONT PHASES

A Waterfront Promenade The riverfront platform will increase opportunities for human aquatic activities and can be used as performance stage.

B River Network

By increasing the filtering greenspace between riverfront, it will collect excess stormwater cycled and cleansed through rain gradens. Stone retainning walls and gabions are used to increase biodiversity.

C Natural Wetland T h e i n c re a s e o f c o n s t r u t e d w e t l a n d s w i l l i m p ro v e anthropogenic discharge and filter runoff water and increase the diversity of animal and create animal habitat.

RESILIENT TYPOLOGY STRATEGIES

RESILIENT TYPOLOGY STRATEGIES

STRATEGY In the order to create a sustainable and adaptable city, I begin to analysis those relationships between green, urban, seasonal, social and private behavior in community spaces. By making each component work autonomously, I tried to achieve flexible goals based on multiple design elements. The results of research generate small elements. These are more easily exchangeable and adaptable than some big infrastructures. After that, we can appropriately combine those modular patterns to create new ones and to favor the renewal.

METHOD By introducing different scales and subjects, every pattern of "planning toolkit" has been modified. These various levels mingle and overlap to finally create a planning, totally moldable and reversible design. Numerous solutions are proposed, the equations are multiple.

SUSTAINABLE STRATEGIES

AGRICULTURAL STRATEGIES

INTEGRATION TO LOCAL CULTURE AND ECONOMY

STRATEGY

Rainwater Harvesting

Wet-season capturing of rainfall from residential buildings helps to offset demand of groundwater for irrigation during the dry season.

A series of sport plaza, linear community gardens with a range of plot types, are distributed within the plan so that every resident has access to an agricultural plot in less than a ten-minute walk. Related community and agricultural programs, such as restaurants, markets are located immediately adjacent to the community garden, creating further opportunities for economic development and innovation. A mix of residential, civic, education, retail, and service uses underpin a holistic community. The integration of employment opportunities with diverse residential offerings will foster a new model of development that is less car-dependent and more sustainable.

SEASONAL CROP ROTATION Proposed bio-intensive organic gardens provide a more active harvesting cycle with greater biodiversity.

Modular Design for Better Communities Competition: The Dencity Competition Location: Visakhapatnam, Indian Team Project: Satya Ganesuni, Xiao Cui, Jingbin Wu Individual works: Conceptual Design, Illusdrative Graphics, Sustainable Design By analyzing activities of one typical family of slum in a day, the concept of our design emphasize on: community activity; education; extra profit and landscape. To serve different group of people different design strategies will be introduced accordingly.

SITE ANALYSIS

TYPOLOGIES OF STRUCTURE By providing steel construction frame to contribute the modular design of this slum, there will be varying options made based on multiple functions that may affect the arrangement of each individual one. The construction material will be collect from local area, meanwhile the traditional architecture technology will be introduced to increasing job opportunities.

TYPOLOGIES OF CITY

Divide the community blocks into 4 categories based on morphology. These types of block have developed according to physical and economic factors, which included value of land and geographic condition of land etc.

By transforming existing sewage pipes to rock swale that infiltrate runoff water from city, the dirty water cleared by layers of rock and engineered soil will fill the underground water table. Unmanageable black water such as toilet and kitchen from each family will be exhausted to existing sewage system, while greywater will go through rock swale to refill water table.
