During my 4 years of practive in landscape architecture, I’ve cultivated an interest for the built environment and all the little details that go into the design of such places that people can truly enjoy. I’ve had wonderful opportunities to work on everything from small outdoor courtyard spaces to several acres large scale spaces, both residential garden as well as public spaces. I have learned that every detail on paper matters and every decision on site is critical. Taking a project from a vision of sketch to getting built per plans is a process that I love and do not take for granted.

The current site is called bamboo island. It has a large rockery mountain in the middle, which doesn’t look good and also blocks view sight. Rare people would like to visit this area. The proposed design creates a nature plaza with learning center, also provides nice outdoor dining space for people holding different events.

National Landing is undergoing a transformation. Like many developments of its time, Crystal City was planned as an automobile-oriented environment. This condition had numerous implications on its urban form and how people utilized its public spaces. One of the most obvious examples of this was the underground shopping mall which served as the heart of Crystal City and its primary pedestrian space. This network of interconnected, subterranean corridors and retail shops operated as the public realm for the development while its streets served vehicular uses. This segregation of people and cars resulted in a disconnected system and left the community with little identity.

MULTI-SCALAR NETWORKS The Parks Master Plan begins with the understanding that the parks within the system must function and serve as an asset to its users at multiple levels. This multi-scalar approach positions the parks at the regional, community, and site scales. Developing an understanding of how the parks operate within the region, community and immediate vicinity will guide how each space should function within the broader network. The Parks Master Plan examines the park system in this way in order to develop recommendations for the programming, overall character, and specific design of these spaces so that they can function effectively at each of these scales.

Other Related Projects Old Chicago Post Office Rooftop Garden
Old Chicago Post Office rooftop garden is the largest
rooftop garden in Chicago. This project started in Fall 2017 and done in Spring 2020. Since all the landscape elements are on a existing historical building, soil volumn and build-in structure is the most important concerns.

The Shade Structure
is customized. We modeled all the details to define the the column size, louver angles, fireplace location as well as paver pattern selection.

Shaefer Residence is a 2.26 acre (9,175m2) residence
