PULAU BANDING RESEARCH CENTER
The Pulau Banding Rainforest Research Centre is located in an environmentally sensitive area at the heart of the BelumTemenggor Forest Complex in Gerik, Malaysia. (Pulau Banding Rainforest Research Centre / C' arch, 2014) It was built by Architect C'arch in 2008. The building total area have 286 m² . The weather of the site is hot and humid as Malaysia is a tropical country.
It was developed as a result of multiple consultations with different NGO's and is an important part of the client's dedication to sustainable development on the island. The idea of design includes CED values in terms of low energy solutions to cooling, selection of materials and insulation. With open landscape, it invites participation of researchers to station there. The design of Pulau Banding Rainforest Research Center also ensure the consideration of local community, orang asli around the site. (Pulau Banding Charter)

Pulau Banding Rainforest Research Center consists of 2 laborateries, library, an office and open terrace. The aim of the building is to cultivate intellectual awareness of the forest complex. The elements of environmentally friendly for the building is by having deep roof overhangs, open terraces for siting and sleeping. The spaces is connected by landscape.
