Kenya records drop in new HIV/Aids infections HIV and Aids prevalence rate in Kenya dropped by 40 per cent between 1995-96 and 2012. Meanwhile, new infections have fallen by 19 per cent, a new study has revealed. A report, the Kenya National AIDS Strategic Plan III 2009/10- 2012/13, indicates that mortality rate dropped by two thirds from 130,000 annually in 20022004 to 49,126 in 2011. New HIV infections stood at 85,000 annually which is 0.4 per cent of the population who were newly infected. Women account for 57.7 per cent of adults living with HIV, while persons aged 15 to 49 years have a prevalence of about 8 per cent, almost twice percent that of men at 4.3 per cent.
