Beware of online posts The government appears to have stepped up efforts to crack down on hate speech, especially on social media. This follows
recommendations by the National Steering Committee on Media Monitoring that Ugandan scholar David Matsanga and seven bloggers
be prosecuted over extreme hate speech. The eight also face accusations of incitement and use of obscene language on social media in the latest
move by the government to crack down on the vice. Earlier this week, political activist Moses Kuria was interrogated for hours by
the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over similar allegations for a post he made on Facebook.
