olice have summoned Narok County leaders over Monday’s protests in the town in which two people were killed and several others wounded. Senator Stephen ole Ntutu, MPs Moitalel Kenta (Narok North), Korei Lemein (Narok South),
Patrick Ntutu (Narok West) and Johanna Ng’eno (Emmurua Dikkirr) have been ordered to report to CID headquarters, in Nairobi, today. CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro said the leaders must explain why they defied a Government directive by staging the protest which led to the
death of two people. “We expect them this morning because of what happened in Narok. They need to come and tell us what happened during the protests and all of them have been summoned,” Muhoro said. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2

Narok leaders summoned by CID From Page 1 The legislators led mobs of protesters who marched to Governor Samuel Tunai’s office to present a petition detailing their grievances to the county government. Police plan to question them over allegations that they incited residents to violence during the demonstrations. At least two people were killed and four others critically injured during the demonstrations that turned violent as the demonstrators, led by the leaders, pressed for Tunai’s ouster. Among the wounded included the district police boss Paul Leting and two of his juniors. The hundreds of protesters paralysed activities in the town for hours before camping at the county government headquarters where they demanded for chance to present a petition to Tunai. The drama turned ugly when a group attempted to storm into the Governor’s office. “It was peaceful at the beginning, but we had to disperse them when they turned violent and tried to gain entry by force,” a senior police officer said.
Security officers fired in the air and lobbed teargas canisters to disperse the rowdy mob which quickly regrouped and took positions outside the county offices. One of those reported to have died sustained gun-shot wounds, while the second is reported to have perished in a stampede as the crowd dashed for safety. About 500 officers backed by a helicopter from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) were detailed to restrain protestors from accessing the county offices. The politicians have been staging running battles with Tunai whom they accuse of protecting ‘non-Maasai’ interests in the county. The Governor has also been under pressure from the leaders who have accused him of employing outsiders at the county government. The politicians also claim the Governor has failed to address the illegal allocation of 4,000 acres of land at the Masai Mara National Reserve. But Tunai has denied the claims by critics who have vowed not to relent in their quest to have him removed.

fiery Keter, Birdi summoned by EACC
captured: Keter was captured on video harassing weighbridge officials in Gilgil in the company of URP nominated colleague Sunjeev Kaur Birdi.

Embattled MPs Alfred Keter and Sunjeev Kaur Birdi were today expected to appear before the Ethics and AntiCorruption Commission for questioning over the Gilgil Weighbridge incident. The legislators were captured on video harassing police officers for the release a detained lorry. The two will appear before the EACC at Integrity House, Nairobi, to answer questions on their conduct at the Gilgil weighbridge. Directorate of Criminal Investigations Director Ndegwa Muhoro said they had asked the two legislators to face the officers in Gilgil because that was where the offences under investigations were committed. On Sunday, the MPs visited CID Headquarters on Kiambu Road to record statements on orders by acting Inspector General of Police Samuel Arachi. They were, however, told to wait for a communication on the way forward. EACC detectives have since visited Gilgil weighbridge and recorded statements from Kenya National Highway Authority officials and police as investigations went into higher gear. The lawmakers have maintained they will not apologise or resign over the incident.
Keter, who claims his actions were prompted by officers’ demands for a bribe, represents Nandi Hills constituents in Parliament. “What was covered in the media was the seven minutes (of insults)… there is another two hours that you didn’t show and those people covered the story to suit their interests to say we are bad. But you remember they also made a lot of loopholes in what they reported in the six or seven minutes; I have never reacted like that, I did that because of the serious challenges we face due to corruption,” he claimed. “As Keter, whenever I see corruption I must become emotional, so unless you need a doctor to be around me to really sort out my emotions when I see corruption. I might overreact and in most cases I will overreact,” Keter claimed.
APOLOGY On Monday, January 26, 2015, we erroneously referred to Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter as Charles Keter. We apologise for any confusion that this might have brought.
Is protesting the best way to win Government attention?
Baraza Wafula,30, Businessman
The only solution to airing issues is protesting if the Government sleeps on the job. But using kids to do this is unacceptable because they cannot protect themselves.
Edwina Mbago, 30
Brian Wambua, 21, businessman
There are better and amicable steps one can take to seek Government attention. Demonstrations only add to problems, especially where kids are involved. If a demonstration is necessary, children should not be used.
Protests are not a way of solving problems because they lead to fracas and deaths. Dialogue works better and has no casualties. Demonstrations should be held only after dialogue has failed.
Peninah Muthoni, 30
The Government barely hears our cries until we protest. It is the best way to get attention because authorities react. If pupils had not fought for their playground, the issue would have been ignored.

App developers earned more money than Hollywood in 2014 Apps made more money than Hollywood in 2014 by raking in more than $10billion (Sh914 million). A pilot exercise will start in Kisumu today before the board moves to other counties. Last week the Board reinstated 13 judges who were earlier found unsuitable but the board conducted a review following a Supreme Court ruling last year. Rao however says the board has not lost its jurisdiction to vet or review the determinations that it has already made.

Sinai fire victims back to court as compensation case drags
THAT FATEFUL DAY: A scene of the Sinai fire incident in September 2011. Survivors seeking government compensation have trooped back to court.
Survivors seeking compensation from the government over the fire tragedy that killed over 100 squatters in Nairobi’s Sinai slums trooped back to court yesterday to give their testimonies as the case they filed to seek compensation drags on. They told the court that they had never been served with eviction notice by the Kenya Pipeline Company which has claimed to own the land they occupied. According to the survivors, they had lived on the land for over twenty years when the tragedy struck and that they “never heard it belonged to KPC.” “They never gave us notice to vacate...for the past 18 years that I live in Sinai I never heard that the plot belonged to anybody, it belonged to the government,” Mr Josephat Mutiso a former carpenter said. The local chief had demarcated the plots to their owners based on the size of their families, another witness Jackson Muthoga claimed. They were testifying in the case in which they are seeking Sh5 billion compensation for gen-
eral damages they suffered. They had been accompanied by Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who filed the petition on their behalf. According to the witnesses, the portions which they had been allocated are their own property. A lawyer defending KPC had suggested that the land the squatters occupied belonged to KPC and that the squatters settled there illegally. The witness said that any entity claiming the land “would have given a notice,” which he has never seen to date. “I need to educate my children and feed my family, that all I ask for now...” The witness said. I am not able to resume work....I cannot do the mjengo work I used to because of my condition,’ Muthoga said. The lawyer told the court that the land belongs to Kenya pipeline although she did not explain why an eviction notice was never served. A 13 year old child who lost his parents also recounted how the tragedy began on that fateful day.
High cholesterol risky for heart, researchers warn Having even slightly raised cholesterol in mid-life significantly increases a person’s risk of heart disease, research reveals. For every decade a person has even mildly elevated cholesterol between the ages of 35 and 55, their risk of heart disease could go up by nearly 40%, the study found. Leaving cholesterol unchecked is not a wise option, say the authors who followed nearly 1,500 people. “Lipid years,” take a toll, they say. While not every person with mild or moderately raised cholesterol will need to start on drug treatment, they might benefit from changing their diet and getting more exercise, says Dr Ann Marie Navar-Boggan, lead author of the research paper, published in the journal Circulation. What we do to our blood vessels in our 20s, 30s and 40s lays the foundation for disease in later life, and if we wait until our 50s or 60s to think about heart disease prevention, an important opportunity is already lost, she says.
Too much cholesterol in your blood can lead to a gradual buildup of fatty material in the walls of your blood vessels and restrict the flow of blood to your heart, brain and body. In time, your arteries can become so diseased that you experience heart pain, called angina, or suffer a heart attack. Around a third of deaths in the UK are caused by cardiovascular disease, accounting for more than 180,000 deaths each year. Guidelines were recently updated to recommend that millions more people should be offered cholesterol-lowering medication to save more lives. Heart disease death rates have been falling, but more rapidly in older age groups than in younger ones and morbidity appears to be increasing. For the study, the US researchers tracked the health of 1,478 adults who were free of heart disease and enrolled in a trial looking at heart risk.

ACT FAST: Chairperson of the African Union commission H.E. Dr Dlamini Zuma addressing the media at the AU headquarters in June 12, 2013. She urged African leaders to quickly and collectively act to curb the growing threat posed by Nigeria’s militant Islamists.
AU WANTS AfRicAN lEADERS To AcT ovER gRoWiNg Boko HARAm THREAT African states have been urged to quickly act and collectively to curb the growing threat posed by Nigeria’s militant Islamists. Citing cross border raids into Cameroon, African Union boss Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said Boko Haram posed much danger to the continent. Nigeria has however rejected AU or UN intervention, saying regional armies are capable of dealing with the threat. Its troops repelled a new attack by Boko Haram on the key north-
eastern city of Maiduguri on Sunday night. Boko Haram launched a full-scale insurgency in north-eastern Nigeria in 2009 to create an Islamic state. In an address to African foreign ministers at the AU headquarters in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Ms Dlamini-Zuma said recent attacks by Boko Haram were deeply horrifying. AU heads of state had agreed to include the conflict on the agenda of their summit, due to begin on Friday, she said. Correspon-
dents say Boko Haram and Somalia’s militant Islamist group al-Shabab will now dominate the summit, which was supposed to focus on women’s empowerment and development. US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Nigeria on Sunday to call for peaceful elections next month. Boko Haram seized the north-eastern Nigerian town of Monguno on Sunday, raising further doubts about whether elections could be held across the country on 14 February.
It controls many towns and villages in the north-eastern Borno state and Maiduguri, the state capital, is seen as a prized scalp for the group. The conflict has caused a humanitarian crisis affecting some three million people, Nigerian officials say. A 24-hour curfew imposed on Sunday in Maiduguri has been relaxed and some businesses reopened on Monday. Government troops beat back Boko Haram fighters who had launched an assault on the city on Sunday.

State picks inter-agency team to fight smuggling A border control and co-ordination committee has been set up to strengthen security and management of the war on terror and smuggling. Addressing the International Customs Day celebrations in Nairobi Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General John Njiraini said the committee will start operations by next week. He said the team will coordinate the fight against the vices. The committee compromises heads of key institutions, including KRA, National Police Service, Kenya Ports
Authority (KPA), Ministry of Health, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Immigration Department and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA). “No one border agency can provide the required assurance because control of people is the responsibility of the Immigration Department while counterfeits fall under the AntiCounterfeit Agency. The idea is to bring all the agencies together so that we have one coordinated and coherent approach to securing our border,” said Njiraini. He said the committee will enhance
risk management, reduce time wastage and cut costs through information sharing among the agencies. “We expect the operations of the new committee to result in benefits to Kenyans, through more effective service delivery, non duplication of processes enhanced risk management with fewer but targeted interventions,” said Njiriani. Other agencies include the Kenya Maritime Authority, Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate, Ministry of Interior and National Coordination and National Intelligence Service.

In today’s tech-centric society, many prefer to combine convenience of computer-related work with what they need to do in the real world. To make this a reality, a group of developers, including Software Engineers Aleem Mawani and Omar Ismai, have developed a tool known as Streak. Streak is a customer relationship tool that can be added to anyone’s Gmail account for free. It allows small business owners who use smartphones and computers to track work and clients’ requests from an inbox. The application (app) allows one to send and receive group emails to and from cli-
ents. A mobile version of the app allows Streak users to keep track of customers, make calls, and send emails. Developers says the tool also “allows you to access information in Streak from any computer. And keep working while on the go using our mobile App.” “Streak was born out of the frustration of constantly switching between our inbox, where we do our work, and external systems. Our goal is to make it simple to manage your everyday processes so you can close more deals, resolve more support tickets, and Get Things Done.”
innovations that have proven potentially feasible for broader deployment. Applicants should focus on projects that deal with climate-smart agriculture and providing assistance to small entrepreneurs in food processing. Other categories are innovations in informal urban food sector, gender-sensitive ICT-based approaches for improved women’s access to urban markets and improving efficient use of mobile phone-based agricultural services by small farmers.

Kenya ranks among top seven emerging investment markets Fortune Magazine has named Kenya among one of the top seven top investment destinations to watch out for in emerging markets this year. The ranking takes note of the massive efforts being made in infrastructure development, the power sector and the improving macro-economic stability. Kenya was playing in the league of a special list of countries
comprising India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland and Colombia. Commenting on the rankings, the Cabinet Secretary for Industrialisation and Enterprise Development Adan Mohamed as pleased with the rankings saying they resented strong investor confidence in the country’s economy which has seen an upward trend.
“We are seeing growing confidence by global investors in our country, something that we are proud of,” noted Adan. Adan attributed the success to the ease of conducting business experienced in the country which has attracted investors. “The reducing cost of doing business and stable macroeconomic environment continues to make a clear signal that Kenya
is ready to do business with the world and we are delighted that investors are showing increasing confidence in our country,” said Adan. Adan said that his ministry has set up a delivery team to make the country a world class investment destination and that they are working with other government agencies to address challenges on the ease of doing business.
The government has finally released its stranglehold on the battery manufacturing sector following the enactment of a law that will breathe new life into the industry. The management and staff of Associated Battery Manufacturers (ABM) heaved a sigh of relief as a law which bans the export of lead takes effect. Lead is the most important raw material for the company’s manufacturing plant, which makes batteries for both local and export markets. The law, dubbed the Scrap Metals Act, bans the export of lead in any shape or form, thus ensuring that local manufacturers have a steady supply. Guy Jack, the CEO
of ABM and Chloride Exide said: “The last few years have been a long struggle to secure this prime raw material in the face of a heavy appetite for any scrap metals from the Far East and Asia and weak enforcement of scrap export restrictions.” Jack noted that following an assurance by the Government, ABM invested Sh600 million in 2014 in a new assembly plant and equipment to start manufacturing maintenance free (MF) batteries. “This is the first such facility in East and Central Africa,” he said, noting that the company’s new product, the Chloride Exide Powerlast battery, will be officially launched in February.

China surpasses US to become Apple’s biggest iPhone market Apple is expected to say this week that it has sold more iPhones in China than on its home turf in the US for the first time last year, highlighting the shifting power balance of the smartphone market. Analysts estimate that 36 per cent of iPhone shipments in the last quarter were accounted for by China while the US accounted for 24 per cent. In the same quarter, 29 per cent of units were
sold in the US and 22 per cent were in China. Over 2million more iPhones were sold in China than North America in the quarter. The launch of Apple’s new Watch in China will also likely increase loyalty among first-time Apple customers. The smartphone giant, Apple, expanded its presence in China last year after the
release of the iPhone 6, striking a deal with the country’s network operator, China Mobile. In 2013, the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, had said that he expected China to eventually overtake the US as Apple’s single largest source of revenue. As previous runaway fertiliser prices have pushed local farmers to the brink of catastrophic losses, the government has since stepped in to offer cheaper imports. The latest move in their initiative is the importation of 25,000
tonnes of fertilizer. The muchneeded manure will reach the country in the coming days. The fertilizer will then be distributed to all Kenya Cereals and Produce Board (KCPB) centres across the country, said Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Felix Koskei. Hash tag #OscarsSoWhite took Twitter by storm the moment this year’s Oscar nominees were unveiled on January 15. Could the 87th awards be the most controversial in the history of the Academy of Motion Pictures?
Oscars 2015: Surprises and Disappointments
T
o the dismay of many, all of the 20 nominated actors for this year’s Academy Awards are white. An issue that led to the birth of trending hash tag #OscarsSoWhite. Since 1998, the nominees for the awards have been of diverse racial backgrounds but the current list leaves a lot to be desired. Some of the obvious stiffs included David Oyelowo, who played Martin Luther King Jr, in the 2014 American historical drama Selma. The British-Nigerian actor executed his role brilliantly but was surprisingly dwarfed by Bradley Cooper, who received the best-actor nomination for his role as Chris Kyle in American Sniper. Many also believe that Carmen Elizabeth Ejogo, who played Coretta Scott King, Luther’s wife, should also have landed a supporting role scoop. Selma director Ava DuVernay did an epic job in the production of the movie. She should have snagged not less than five nominations instead of two (best picture and best original song). Ava, critics say, deserved to be in the race for Best Director but was cut off too. For a movie which was nominated for the Best Picture award, Ava was ripe for the directorship nod. She would have been the first black woman to receive a Best Director Oscar nomination and perhaps the only
female director in the screen battle. The only probable explanation for Selma’s dismal presence in the Oscars could be its late release. Otherwise if Clint Eastwood’s Navy SEAL drama American Sniper gathered six nods, Selma should have scored at least five. Jake Gyllenhaal shed off weight to fit his part as L.A. crime paparazzo Lou Bloom in Nightcrawler but failed to get the Best Actor’s tick. Jennifer Aniston must have fizzled in shock when her glitzy performance in Cake did not seize her best actress nomination. To the surprise of many, she was dislodged by Marion Cotillard for her act in Two Days, One Night. Truth be told, Aniston’s stunning performance in Cake was worth a nod. Similarly, Amy Adams, of Big Eyes suffered the same stroke of loss to Tim Burton’s biopic about painter Margaret Keane. More disenfranchising was lack of female directors, screenwriters and cinematographers in the nomination line up. Selma director Ava DuVernay was the perfect candidate among others but was unceremoniously left out. Angelina Jolie’s outstanding work in directing Unbroken and Louis Zamperini biopic also went unnoticed. The Oscar-winner was one of the biggest names to miss a nomination. This would have been her first shot at nabbing the best
carmen ejogo emma stone director’s accolade. Omission of women in the directors’ line up fueled massive outrage.—A big failure of observance of diversity in this year’s academy awards. CNN’s senior producer David Daniel Tweeted, “#OscarNoms No female directors, screenwriters, or cinematographers. No actors of color. #diversity.” It was a jaw dropping affair when great animation films like The Lego Movie were bluntly ignored. The Lego Movie was a huge blockbuster and best animation film last year but was overlooked as well. It is still disgruntling how it fell short in the nominations and only received a pat for “Best Original Song”. The Lego Movie was stifled by movies less deserving in the awards pool Other best movies that were rudely locked out are Interstellar, Gone Girl and Foxcatcher.

Even though the best actors and directors got no nominations, it is consoling to know that some of our favorite and amazing performers are in the running. For instance, Emma Stone won her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Birdman. Meryl Streep etched her name in Oscar’s history as the most nominated actor when she got her 19th nod for performing in Into the Woods. She is a three times Oscar winner. Africa has something to write home about as Timbuktu directed by Abderrahmane Sissako was nominated for Best Foreign Language film. Sissako, 53, hails from Kiffa, Mauritania. The awards ceremony is slated for February 22.

Body paintings Gesine Marwedel is a 26-year-old German artist, who uses the human body as her canvas. Through her paintings, she transforms the human body into a work of art. This makes an observer look closely to figure out what the artist was trying to portray. Marwedel carefully paints her models and positions them before taking pictures so that her art may come out representing what she had in mind. Most of her models are painted to represent animals of the wild, from flamingos to cheetahs. Marwedel is renowned world over and her art has been displayed in countless galleries.

hat can paper do for you? Well, for most of us, nothing much. Paper loses its value once we have used it. We crumple it, tear it or shred it and throw it in the bin without batting an eyelid. But for one Churchill Ongere, a 23-year-old Political Science student at Maseno University, paper is a gold mine. His eyes light up with excitement when he sees paper because only he understands its worth. Wherever he is working, you can mistake his work space for a paper recycling factory. Sheets of different types of paper lay sprawled on the table. From old newspapers to glossy magazines and vintage photos…he has them all. Scissors in hand he dexterously cuts bits of paper and sticks them on to a plain canvas, automatically transforming it into a master piece. His work might seem easy to the ordinary Joe. One might be tempted to ask what is so difficult in cutting bits of paper and sticking them onto a canvas. But it is never that easy. Collage art requires skill and immense levels of creativity to come up with a good piece.
The tedious task calls for utmost concentration, which Ongere has in plenty. Coupled with passion and attention to detail, Ongere enjoys seeing bits of paper come to life and express art. While some pieces can take him a few hours to complete, others take days depending on the size and complexity of the design. Music, he says, plays a vital role in setting the mood for him to tap into his inner creativity. “When I am listening to my music, nothing can distract me. I usually have Femi Kuti on replay and he has a way of getting me in the zone. Once I was so engrossed in a piece that I took two days to finish without realizing it!” explained Ongere. He recalls how he was intrigued by the craft from primary school during the art and craft lessons. He would eagerly wait for the classes so as to get his little hands dirty, smear the liquid glue onto the papers and stick them on a cardboard. When he began, he was not very good at the art. He was merely doing it for art’s sake but as years passed by, his creativity took to new heights.
Witches of the South East
He soon became more adept at cutting paper and better at what he does, which saw him start exhibiting his works in public spaces. He is privileged to have had his work displayed at the Little Art Gallery and Diani Beach Gallery, all of which have set him apart in the art industry. “I started taking my art seriously in 2012 when I realized I could make some money from selling my pieces. I am also fortunate to have showcased my works at the Saatchi Gallery in the United Kingdom last year,” said Ongere. Not all has been smooth for him though. There have been sticky hurdles along the way. As an upcoming artist, he has had to deal with low sales and also difficulties forming viable networks to further his art. “One of the challenges I have undergone would be building the right networks and finding that curator who will push my work as a young artist while exposing me to the best artists around. But I am grateful to have overcome the challenges,” said Ongere. However, the sky is the limit for the young artist as he pursues the career hoping that it will eventually pay off, financially.
Unlike most ethnic groups in which witchcraft was associated with women, Giriama witches were mostly older men. However, the Giriama also believed that everybody in society was a potential witch. Consequently, people were not only afraid that their neighbors might turn against them, but also that they might turn against their neighbors with witchcraft. For this reason, all tribe members usually sought four types of protection; from the spells of witches; from accusations of witchcraft; from society’s overall belief and fear; and, finally, from becoming a witch themselves. Charms, medicines, banishment of witches and general society cleansing ceremonies were the common methods of protection. Witchfinding techniques usually involved detecting and punishing witches, sometime merely cleansing the witch and eradicating his or her powers. The interpretation of evil and the means to get rid of it was often affected by the political situation of the Giriama. Under the traditional system, several ordeals were threatened, and occasionally administered, to unearth sorcery. They included hot axes or rocks in the palms, hot needles through the upper lip, treated paw-paw that caused the face and mouth to swell and treated bread, which stuck to the throat of the guilty. The threat of an ordeal usually provoked a confession, after which the witch was given cleansing medicine. The Giriama borrowed witch-hunting methods from the Swahili, Kamba and Mijikenda.

orn has been around since the beginning of time. People were drawing paintings of the sexual act and other fertility rituals on the walls of caves since storytelling and recording history gained some structure. So it wouldn’t be inaccurate to say people have always had a fascination with seeing other people engaging in the throes of passion. There is no doubt that over dependency on pornography can result in emotional and psychological damage to a person. But it would also be unfair to dismiss the benefits that it offers couples in happy and fulfilling relationships. Naturally, the internet has made pornography incredibly easy

openly between partners if it does happen to come up in order to make both parties feel at ease. An open dialogue ensures that secrets are kept at a minimum and it brings both partners on the same page about what they want sexually and emotionally. Pornography can help couples explore their fantasies and urges in a safe and suitable environment. This also does not mean that all fantasies are necessarily healthy and if any partner is not comfortable with doing something they should absolutely not do it. It adds a new element during couple-time that helps keep things interesting and exciting. Watching pornography, even though not many will admit it, can be a learning experience. It can improve a couple’s sex life and helps partners discover things about each other that they did not know before. Hopefully,

Dear Martin,
to access, which carries its own risks, while helping normalize the presence of pornography in our everyday lives. Whether that is a good or a bad thing is up for debate. Pornography, like most sensitive issues, should be discussed in the appropriate place, under the appropriate conditions. Quite a few times, I’ve heard young women complain about how their partners turn to pornography in the dead of the night leaving them feeling neglected, lonely and insecure. Although, of course, this is by no means an exclusively male problem. Pornography is detrimental to a relationship because it makes one partner feel like they are somehow inadequate and that there may be some underlying issues that are at play. Although this might not be the case at all. In a relationship, the issue of pornography should be discussed
What you are going through is due to the breach of trust in your relationship. It is totally
unacceptable for one’s partner to sneak around with someone else. Having genuine doubts that the baby maybe yours is understandable given that she cheated. Getting a paternity test may put your mind to rest but you must ask your girlfriend first. Discuss it calmly and relay your fears to her. No one is pointing fingers but she should comprehend that had she been faithful, none of this would have been
necessary. If she really has nothing to hide then she will let you get the answers you deserve. She may not like the sound of this so brace yourself. Also, be ready for anything in the event of the test. When all is said and done, you need peace of mind. Whatever decision you two agree upon, let it be in the best interests of the innocent child. this helps people in relationships communicate better and increase trust. Long lasting relationships are unquestionably based on trust. Watching pornography together might actually bring a couple closer. If it is treated as a shared experience by both partners, it can enhance the bond that a couple shares and make them feel like they are participating in something together. Although all of this has been stated, none of these things are set in stone and definitely not applicable to every couple. Simply put, not everything is for everyone. If your relationship flourishes without any element of pornography, then more power to you. As we know pornography use can be detrimental to some relationships, but if a couple does choose pornography as a bonding exercise it should be used moderately, and with the consent of both partners.

DAZZLES at sag awards
he Hollywood stars took to the red carpet once again on Sunday for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards in Los Angeles and as always, it was a fashion galore! Dress trains seemed to be the trend of the red carpet as stars like Sofia Vergara, Charisa Thompson, Camilla Alves, Danielle Brooks and Dascha Polanco, showed off their figures in body-hugging gowns. But it was Lupita Nyong’o who stole the show as she walked the red carpet in a spectacular Elie Saab dress that brought floral designs and stripes together. Her hair was also gorgeous— she sported a braided up do, doing away with the afro that had hitherto become her signature look. Lupita reminded Hollywood why she was the it-girl in 2014 and she seems hell bent on keeping that trophy in 2015!

Protests should be peaceful and students who become riotous need to be jabbed with cattle-prods. Teargas only serves to punish innocent bystanders.

Kenyan driver to race in Abu Dhabi circuit Teenage sensation Tejas Hirani will this weekend become the first Kenyan driver to ever race on the ultra-modern Yas Marina Formula One track in Abu Dhabi. The 50,000-seater Yas Marina Circuit, which is owned by the Abu Dhabi government, is home to the prestigious Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix. The elegant track is situated on Yas Island, about 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi. It is the second Formula One track in the Middle East after Bahrain. Tejas cleared the ground over the weekend with all his rivals during round five of the FG1000 at the Dubai Autodrome. “We will have two races on the southern circuit of Yas Marina this weekend which is exciting for us as a team. I’m getting a new engine so I will give it my
best shot; and I can’t wait to race the Yas Marina Circuit on Friday. After three test sessions on Thursday, Tejas posted fastest times in all three sessions and was in good stead for the weekend’s racing. His pole was a new lap record. Rounds 7 & 8 of the FG1000-which is a single sitter championship- takes place on the Yas Marina Circuit on January 30. Round 6 saw Tejas’ race end prematurely with engine failure. “The first half of the second race at the Autodrome ended with engine problems. We are here for four races and the last two at Yas this Friday,” said Tejas. Tejas racked up a rare double when he put on a stunning performance at the Autodrome
to take Pole Position and win both Rounds 3 and 4 in December. “I’m happy as this puts me further in the lead of the 2014/2015 championship,” Tejas said. Sixteen-year-old Kenyan born Tejas Hirani first got into a go kart at age 9. Since then, with Team Magic by his side he has continued to go from strength to strength. Tejas competed in his first championship in 2010 in the 60cc class at the Solai track in Nakuru. He has twice represented Kenya in the FIA Institute African Academy selection where he finished as a runnersup on his first attempt. In December 2013, Tejas was awarded the “Soya” Sports Personality of the Year 2013 for the Boys Category.

It is the first time since the 2010 US Open that Williams has reached a major quarterfinal, and the eighth time she has reached the Australian Open last eight. Standard Liege fans unfurl banner showing Defour’s decapitated head
SERIOUSLY LOATHED: Standard Liege fans unveiled a huge banner of their former player Steven Defour’s decapitated head.
Belgian football officials reacted angrily after a banner depicting the severed head of Steven Defour greeted the Anderlecht midfielder on his return to former club Standard Liege. The Belgium international joined Anderlecht in the summer, three years after leaving their rivals. The banner also showed a man holding a sword and the slogan ‘Red or Dead’. “It was disgusting and took place in front of children,” said Thibault De Gendt of the Belgian FA. “We hope never to see this again.” Defour, 26, who played for Belgium at the 2014 World Cup, was sent off early in the second half of the game,
which his side lost 2-0, after picking up a second booking for kicking the ball into the home supporters. After the game he posted a message on social media, saying: “Apologies to my fans and team-mates at Anderlecht, although I do not understand the red card - you cannot see or hear the referee.” The banner - which appeared to reference the fictional character Jason Voorhees from horror film Friday The 13th - was unveiled before kick-off, as fans targeted their former captain, who had spent five years with Standard Liege before signing for then Portuguese champions Porto in 2011.
AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS 2015 OUT OF CLASH: Thulani Hlatshwayo (left) has been ruled out of Bafana Bafana’s clash with Ghana after suffering a concussion in their game against Senegal.

Arsenal face Boro in FA fifth round clash Holders Arsenal will take on Championship side Middlesbrough in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Aitor Karanka’s side knocked out Manchester City in the fourth round and will visit Emirates on the weekend of February 14 -15. League One side Bradford City have been rewarded with a home tie against Sunderland or Fulham after eliminating Chelsea. Winners of the replay between Cambridge United and Manchester United will visit Preston or Sheffield United. Crystal Palace will host either Liverpool or Bolton Wanderers, while there are all-Premier League ties between Aston Villa and Leicester City, and West Brom and West Ham. After beating Rochdale on Monday, Stoke will visit Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the next round. The final tie is an all-Championship affair between Derby County and Reading. The picture below shows a past clash between the two teams.
Bafana Bafana star not fit for Ghana showdown South Africa defender Thulani Hlatshwayo has been ruled out of their final Africa Cup of Nations Group C clash against Ghana. Thulani has not recovered from a concussion suffered in the 1-1 draw against Senegal. “His brain was shaken violently
when he tried to head the ball but ended up with a clash of heads with an opponent,” said Dr Thulani Ngwenya. The Bafana Bafana surgeon suggested the player may be fit to play in the quarter-finals if the team advances.
Meanwhile, coach Shakes Mashaba is hopeful that Hlatshwayo’s fellow defender Rivaldo Coetzee, who was stretchered off in the opening game’s 3-1 fall to Algeria, will be available against the Black Stars. He is set to train with the squad on Monday before a final decision is
taken on whether he has recovered sufficiently from a knee knock. South Africa are bottom of the group and need to beat Ghana to stand chance of making it through to the knockout stages. They will also need Senegal to beat Algeria in the group’s other game.
I struggled with team tempo, says Black Stars striker Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah (pictured) says he had to struggle with the team’s tempo on joining the national side. The Crystal Palace player, whose loan at Cambridge United has ended, said he had found the Ghana team’s style hard to cope with when he first trained in December. “In Ghana obviously it took me a bit more of time to adjust to the pace but in Spain I was able to find my feet and integrate well,” he said on Sunday. Appiah, 24, has only played in friendlies for the Black Stars but says he is enjoying himself with the team. “To be honest I’m happier to be here (than in England).” But he says integration has been fine since he joined, despite the difference in culture. On whether he is worried of failing to get playing time, the recruit is biding his time. “That’s up to the coach. He does the selection so we’ll see.” The Black Stars face South Africa in their last Group C match on Tuesday.

Ingwe’s Mieno joins Tusker Midfielder Humphrey Mieno has left AFC Leopards for Tusker ahead of 2015 Kenyan Premier League season kick-off. The former Sofapaka and Azam of Tanzania, joins former teammate at Batoto ba Mungu and Ingwe James Situma at the 10-time Kenyan champions side. The former Kenyan international was among
four players who had contacted Football Kenya Federation and Kenyan Premier League seeking to have contracts with AFC Leopards terminated for non-payment of salary. The script was similar at Sofapaka. Mieno terminated his contract with Batoto ba Mungu after going three months without pay. “I’m happy to join Tusker and I look forward to
doing my best on the pitch,” said Mieno. “It is unfortunate I had to leave AFC Leopards, but life has to go on. It’s time to focus on the new club,” he said. He joins former Gor Mahia winger Patrick Oboya, Donald Mosoti and Cersidy Lumumba, among the new faces at Tusker.

DR Congo, Tunisia in quarters
T
unisia and DR Congo both qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals after they drew in
Bata. A point apiece gave Tunisia top spot in Group B and DR Congo second place. Tunisia spurned two excellent early chances before they struck on the halfhour, Ahmed Akaichi stretching to head
in Yassine Chikhaoui’s deflected shot. Wahbi Khazri should have made it 2-0 but blazed over, and DR Congo snatched their place in the last eight when Jeremy Bokila side-footed in. Bokila’s strike changed DR Congo’s fortunes completely; the draw put them level on points with Cape Verde, who were held 0-0 by Zambia, and put his side through by virtue
of having scored one more goal than the Blue Sharks. Until the substitute’s intervention they had been heading out of the tournament having woefully underperformed for an hour. They go through after three group draws - which sets a record of six stalemates from their last six Nations Cup finals matches - having scored only two goals,
and it is unlikely they will have struck fear into the hearts of quarter-finals opponents Congo. .The Carthage Eagles spurned two excellent chances after only 10 minutes, Ferjani Sassi was far too casual with a shot and Yassine Chikhaoui stabbed the follow-up wide. The impressive Chikhaoui set up the opener as he showed great feet in the
area to create a shooting opportunity, his effort was half blocked and Akaichi deflected the ball in with his head. DR Congo took advantage, a long ball sought out Dieumerci Mbokani, who headed on for Bokila to slot home in the bottom corner. Back on level terms, all DR Congo needed to do was hang on.
