oseph Kipchirchir Boinett has defended his nomination to take up the police Inspector General’s office, saying he is well drilled to squarely confront security challenges facing the nation. “It is true that I am a very kind person, quite calm and even reserved… but that is the face that you
see. Behind that is a very hard man. All those attributes have been poured on me because I do not tolerate nonsense from anybody… I do not accept mediocrity,” he told a joint committee of the National Assembly and Senate that was vetting him yesterday. He said if confirmed to the office, he will fight
impunity and corruption within the service which is said to have contributed to rising cases of insecurity across the country. “I intend to confront those entrenched cultures of impunity, human rights abuse and corruption headon and I am ready for whatever consequences,” he declared.
