State moves to avert deaths in the North I nterior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery was set to fly to Turkana today as the Government begins a disarmament exercise in the volatile Turkana and Pokot Counties. This is in response to recent
communal attacks that have left more than 50 people killed. The Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet is leading the operation after flying to Nadome, the epicentre of the recent killings, yesterday. Boinnet made the flight as
Nkaissery announced that the exercise is aimed at ensuring security in the region.Nkaissery said that since Sunday, a series of attacks in Sarima in Samburu, Lomerock on the border of Samburu and Turkana and Nadome in Turkana East had left
a trail of death and destruction. Kenya Redcross officials confirmed that 54 people had been killed in four days of cattle raids and revenge attacks in the areas. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2

I found it normal to let my older sister, Yabo Adebayor stay in that house. I also allowed my half brother (Daniel) to stay in the same house. A few months later, I was on vacation and

She also kicked Daniel out of that house,” Adebayor said in a long Facebook rant. “My sister Lucia Adebayor keeps telling people that my dad told me to bring her to Europe. But what would be the purpose to bring her to Europe? Everyone is here for a reason.” Not taking the beating lying down, Lucia has offered her side of the story, denying the allegations fronted by the player, in addition to disassociating with him. “Keep on lying to the whole world brother... where is the car you got for mum… you took it back… The house you claim you bought for sister are all lies....Money is not everything oooo... we the family don’t even need you again just be on your own so we do the same...de fact you have it today doesn’t guarantee your tomorrow… May God Allah forgive you... you sent your own little nephews packing from your house at 12am....The Alphas and Mallams have done great harm to your life. Security bosses out to tame Nothern Kenya violence From Page 1 Gunmen from Turkana are suspected to have launched an attack on Monday against an ethnic Pokot village along the Turkana-East Pokot district border, an area where there are frequent deadly conflicts between the two communities. This was in response to an earlier attack on the Turkanas by the
Pokot warriors. The incidents have attracted condemnation with the public accusing the Government of being insensitive and selective in addressing insecurity challenges in different counties. Amnesty International expressed concerns over insecurity in the North and called on the Government to prioritize security to all Kenyans.
“The Government of Kenya must urgently move to guarantee the security of all residents in Northern Kenya and avert any further deaths from community level conflict and insecurity that is economically and politically motivated,” Amnesty International’s Country Director Justus Nyangaya said. “Every single life matters! The Government of Kenya should be
ashamed of failing to provide a lasting solution to insecurity in the North. It should investigate and hold instigators of violence accountable under the law to demonstrate that lives up there matter. These killings must be brought to an end,” he added. “We can’t have Kenyans killing one another especially these pastoralist communities who come from a
very marginalized environment. They can’t continue in this day and age to do cattle rustling and kill one another while showing little regard for lives. Between these four counties, Marsabit, Samburu Turkana and Baringo, over the last four days close to 75 Kenyans have died. Is it worth it and what for?” Red Cross Secretary General Abbas Gullet said.

Crackdown on city food kiosks amid cholera fears The county government of Nairobi has started tearing down unlicensed food stalls in the city. The exercise, which kicked off today, follows the recent cholera outbreak in the city. County executive for Health, Mercy Kamau says the exercise will go on across the city to help curb the situation. “We cannot allow our people to be disposed to health risk by businesses that are operating under poor conditions due to ignorance of the owners. Most of them we know are unlicensed and we are after them,” she said. She, however, says the move is not as a result of the outbreak but a responsibility
of the county government in protecting its people. The exercise will be carried out in all the city estates following reports that several businesses and food stalls are not licensed. The Eastlands is said to have the highest number of businesses operating without the license. The move comes in the wake of reports that more than 30 people have been admitted in Mbagati hospital following the outbreak of the disease in Kibera slum. Head of district surveillance in Langata Samuel Muturi has confirmed that most cases reported are from Laini Saba area of Kibera but said measures are taken to
prevent more outbreak and spreading to other parts of the city. Laini Saba Member of County Assembly David Kitavi has been accusing the county government of failing to take up measures to curb the situation even after the first cholera death was reported two weeks ago. However, the County Government says it has sent a team of medical officers to the area to look into the issue. In Kibera’s Laini saba a nearby river has been blamed for the outbreak. Other counties that have reported the outbreak include Nakuru, where more than 20 people have been reported dead.
Motorists in Nairobi may be forced to adopt the left hand drive module if a report of a taskforce the County Government formed to restructure intersections at roundabouts is not quashed, a court has been told. The report, according to Nairobi senator Mike Sonko, who objected to the new motoring system, was carried out by two international consulting companies without a public survey. The senator states in an affidavit that coming up with the left hand-drive, “which is applicable in the US, Britain and Germany has nothing ingenious to our prevailing situation in the country.” According to the senator the decision appears hell-bent on forcing Kenyans into a
left hand motoring nation. “I believe that even though Kenya has a right to undertake projects with development partners no such right extends to such parties to impose decisions affecting Kenyans without involving them since our vehicles and road structures are all primarily geared and structured to righthand drive motoring,” the senator stated through lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui. According to the senator the report was meant “to steal money from the government, arising from cooked up cost estimates for each implied corrective measure.” He states that the final report contains left hand drive illustrations of the proposed intersections on the affected roundabouts and concludes it was a
shoddy cut and paste job from some left hand drive country such as the US. He told the court that from the affidavit of the state department of transport sworn by engineer John Kipng’etich Mosonik, “the total cost of Sh400 million paid to HB Gauff Consulting Engineers from Germany and MottMacDonald Consultants from Britain is unjustified and cannot form a proper report to be adopted by the Nairobi county government.” In the suit the two companies are also accused of failing to carry out a public survey as provided for under Article 10 of the constitution. The court yesterday directed that all parties in the matter file their responses before June 4.
Nairobi residents warned of water shortage as plant is serviced A water shortage is expected in parts of Nairobi from today as a result of scheduled maintenance works at the Sasumua Water Treatment Plant. According to a statement from the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, the maintenance works are expected to go on until Sunday. “The aim is to enhance the plant’s efficiency in
production and water quality and will result in a reduction of water production and supply by 30 percent,” the firm stated. The areas affected include Westlands, Parklands, City Park, Lavington, Kilimani and State House. Other areas to be affected are Loresho, Waithaka, Kangemi, Mountain View, Riruta, Satellite, Kawangware, Kibera, Madaraka, South C,
Karen and Lang’ata. Gigiri, Nyari, Lower Kabete and Spring Valley, areas along Ngong’ Road, Naivasha Road, Waiyaki Way and Peponi Road, and areas West of Uhuru Highway will also experience water scarcity. The water company stated that every effort will be made to restore the supply of water and requested all customers to exercise patience during the period.

Mean people evolved as a way to keep outsiders from joining their groups Some people are mean and spiteful because it is a natural response aimed at keeping outsiders from “contaminating” their group of friends. Scientists have discovered that people have learned to weed out people who do not share the same interests as them from their social circles. While this seems like a harmless way for people to make friends, there are those that tend to turn violent. A team of psychologists, biologists and mathematicians has discovered that the more similar a person is within a group, the more spiteful they are towards outsiders. This behaviour may have developed to protect the structure and the genetics, of a social community over the course of many years. It may also be the reason that people in particular villages, towns and countries seem very much alike even when they are not related. The study was developed by researchers

D.B Krupp and Peter Taylor at Queen’s and the One Earth Future Foundation. They found that individuals who appear very different from most others in a group will evolve to be kind towards similar partners, and only slightly spiteful to those who are different from them. However, individuals who appear very similar to the rest of a group will somewhat be kind to similar partners but very spiteful to individuals who are different. “Similar individuals are more likely to share copies of each other’s genes and dissimilar individuals are less likely to,” Explains Dr Krupp. “As a consequence, evolutionary theory predicts that organisms will often discriminate, because helping similar partners and harming dissimilar ones increase the fraction of the discriminating party’s genes in future generations,” he says.
Karen MCA David Mberia was last night arrested and locked up at Hardy Police Station after he tried to intervene as police were arresting some residents of Kuwinda slums in his ward. The residents were in a night vigil for a funeral of one resident when police arrived and ordered them to close before arresting them. They called Mberia who arrived minutes later but he was also arrested for what police say is ‘obstructing course of justice’. The MCA says he will protest the officers’ actions. Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which unknown people broke into the private offices of Lugari MP Ayub Savula and stole documents and electronics.

The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) is seeking to raise half a billion shillings to enhance its disaster management preparedness in a campaign covering the next seven months. Speaking ahead of the commemoration of the organisation’s 50 year anniversary scheduled for tomorrow, Secretary General Abbas Gullet said the money will ensure that response to disasters is quick. He said the society’s commitment to keep up with its agenda of delivering quality services to both the government and the public. “We want to by the end of the campaign to raise about Sh500 million which will be part of our disaster preparedness kitty such that when there are disasters, Kenya Red Cross will always be on the front line so we want to be empowered to have these resources to respond,” he stated. President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to officiate at the commemoration even at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
There will be a series of other events and tomorrow, there will be events in all other counties and we understand that the governors of the counties will be our chief guests because they are also patrons of our county branches then from there on, every month we will have an activity as a highlighter that will go on up to December,” he said. On December 21 we will have a big do to then finalise on this campaign. There will be road shows, blood drives, first aid training, membership drives, various entertainments that we will have throughout the year like competitions with Universities in terms of the Law students and Red Cross clubs on issues to do with humanitarian laws and many other things. The big thing for us though is the training.” The Secretary General further stated that the organization has achieved a lot for the last 50 years in terms of disaster management.

KCB makes Sh6billion
Europe to set up a one-stop online shop for digital goods
The Kenya Commercial Bank Group made a profit of Sh6.2 billion in the first quarter of 2015 on the back of higher interest income, fees and commissions arising from new business lines. This was a jump of 12 per cent from a profit of Sh5.6 billion last year. “The impressive earnings are as a result of a continued focus on the business to drive up non-funded income,” said KCB Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Joshua Oigara. In a statement released, Oigara noted that some of the growth was as a result of “new products which we have rolled out to meet changing customer needs.” “We see the partnership with Safaricom as

The aim is to give Europeans simple and unfettered access to services like movie streaming, online shopping and cloud computing no matter where they live, the New York Times reports. Doing so could create a more unified market for the European Union’s (EU’s) 503 million people. “The borderless nature of digital technologies means it no longer makes sense for each EU country to have its own

In the coming months, KCB plans to deepen its investment in the digital payments market. As part of this initiative KCB has recently launched the KCB M-PESA Account. It is the second product under the group’s partnership with Safaricom. This product allows customers to access loans based on their credit history, while enabling them to save money and earn interest.

The commission aims to simplify consumer rules for online purchases, making it easier for innovators to start their own company and boos digital skills and learning within the EU.
Regulator sets ground for Islamic insurance
The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has introduced new Islamic insurance rules, dubbed Takaful, in a bid to provide insurance services to millions of consumers across the country. Takaful is an Arabic word that refers to a cooperative system of repayment in case of loss. The introduction of Takaful is a sign of
consumer appetite for Islamic finance products. Islamic finance follows religious principles such as bans on the payment of interest when it comes to handing out loans. It accounts for roughly 2 per cent of total banking business in Kenya, where Muslims make up about 6 million consumers out of population of 40 million.
The rules will take effect in June with firms required to adopt the requirements by December, according to a document from Kenya’s Insurance Regulatory Authority. Reuters says that this will see Kenya join the ranks of countries such as Pakistan and Indonesia, which adopted the takaful trend years ago. The rules require insurance
operators to maintain separate takaful funds for their general and life insurance businesses. Under the Takaful scheme, the operating model of a firm must be approved by a board of religious scholars. The move follows the launch of Takaful Insurance of Africa,Kenya’s first full-fledged takaful firm, which was launched in 2011.

the mouse, the firm said, is because it has many business customers who use its software to run Windows applications on smartphones and tablets. Use of a mouse is a great way to mobilise organisation, thereby bringing about disruptive agility when using it on an iPad and now iPhone. “Applications can be hard to use with just a touchscreen, which is why some people might just want a mouse for their iPad”, a Citrix spokesperson said via a

With the anticipated launch of the Windows 10 by Microsoft, the mouse will find greater use because of the more touchfriendly business applications, which are slowly but surely entering the mainstream. story and a long-term tourism leader, not only in Africa but globally,” said Mr. Rifai during a recently visit to Kenya. “Over the years, the Kenyan tourism sector has become a backbone of the national economy and demonstrated a remarkable capacity to recover and regain momentum, which is why I have full confidence in its ability to bounce back even stronger. The world must hear from Kenya now.
Kenya, with Africa, will move forward”, added Rifai. Mr. Rifai met with President Kenyatta to explore further areas of cooperation between Kenya and UNWTO, as well as the importance of domestic tourism, increased regional cooperation, and the need for more precise travel advisories. Mr. Kenyatta confirmed the Government’s commitment to keep advancing the tourism sector
also in these trying moments, and highlighted the importance of coexistence and working closely with neighboring countries to stabilize and promote East Africa. “Terrorism is not a Kenyan issue, it is a global issue. We just happen to live on the front line. We will not change our plans but rather work towards eradicating the problem and to protect our people”, Uhuru said Mr. Rifai also met with
the Cabinet Secretary for East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism, Phyllis Kandie, in efforts to recover and consolidate Kenya’s tourism sector. “Sometimes when we live in a country we do not see how the world sees us. The world has great respect for Kenya, as do the international tourism community. I want to assure you that we will do our part to help restore full confidence in this incredible destination”, concluded Mr. Rifai.

MONEY MATTERS: The Central Bank announced yesterday that its benchmark lending rate would remain unchanged, despite experts predicting a probable rise in borrowing costs.
CITY SCAPE City Hall Clock Tower City Hall Clock Tower stands over 50 meters (165 feet) tall. Built in 1957, it is one of Nairobi’s oldest landmarks and one of Kenya’s most-famous buildings. It is located along City Hall Way, next to the aptly named City Hall. The new Town hall was opened in the same week as the Law Courts, opposite it, during the Silver Jubilee Celebrations in May 1935. Construction of a new complex commenced in 1950 and was completed in 1957 when it was officially opened. Until the opening of the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC), City Hall provided all the necessary facilities for conferences in Nairobi. The clock tower, was the tallest building in Nairobi in 1957. In 1981, the Nairobi City Council completed a further 13 storey City hall Annex.
Cost of borrowing could rise for first time since 2011, experts warn The cost of borrowing is likely to rise as the Central Bank of Kenya comes under pressure to increase the current rates, experts have warned. Poor rains have pushed food prices up, which in turn, has had a significant knock on effect on the cost of borrowing. The bank’s monetary policy committee said in a statement that due to these recent events, the bank may be forced to raise the lending rate for the first time
since 2011. However, the Central Bank announced yesterday that its benchmark lending rate would remain unchanged. The interest rate was left at 8.5 per cent, where it has been since May 2013, read a statement from the bank on Wednesday. The rate serves as a guideline for local lenders to set their own fees, which they then charge to borrowers. Lenders are, however, allowed to add
extra charges based on a borrower’s credit history and their operational expenses. Following a dry spell during the first quarter of this year and a poorlyperforming Kenyan shilling, the rate of inflation is likely to speed up, Bloomberg reports. Inflation refers to a general increase in the prices of goods and services.
Turkana wind power project COULD HELP LOWER power costs

GREEN ENERGY: The Ngong II wind farm, with an installed capacity of 13.6 MW. A similar project, the Lake Turkana wind power project, is set to pump more power into the national grid as the architects plan to install new turbines later this year.
BIZ GADGET The Apple watch is one of Apple’s latest devices. This watch works with selected Apple devices. Its main task is to be a symbiotic iPhone companion. However, it only functions with iPhones 5 to 6, leaving owners of any previous devices at a disadvantage. The Apple Watch comes in three different models, in two different sizes and six different finishes. Has a range of bands with prices ranging from $349 (Sh33,293) to $17,000 (Sh1.6 million). This watch was designed to ensure iPhone users look at their phones less often.
Kenya’s Lake Turkana wind power project is set to connect thousands of people to the national power grid as the initiative’s architects plan to install new turbines later this year. These developments follow a move by energy provider KENGEN to lower the cost of electricity by adding 5,000MW to the national grid. By 2017, the turbines are expected to pump 300 megawatts of power into the national grid. That could translate to lower electric bills for consumers. Though the initiative holds a lot of promise, it has been one of the longest-running projects in the history of the country. After years of discord and what some describe as “kilometers of red tape”, ground was finally
late last year, the Wall Street Journal reports. But as construction gets under way, the lack of supporting infrastructure has shown just how much work still needs to be done. A road still needs to be built over which 365 Danish-made wind turbines will travel from the port of Mombasa, 130 miles away, the Journal reports. These developments come at a time when roughly 1 out of every 3 Kenyans has no access to electricity. Kwame Parker, East Africa head of power and infrastructure at Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd, which helped arrange funding for the Turkana project, emphasizes how difficult the project has been. “At Turkana you get literally one of the best winds you can get in the world, but almost everything else is hard,” he says.
THE APPLE WATCH The Apple Watch works alongside the phone as an extension, a second screen and to add another device to your iOS experience. The core functions of the watch are communication, fitness, information and telling time. Like other smartwatches the key feature on them is mostly their fitness feature that show cases your heartbeat, how long you have walked, how far and how many calories you have burnt altogether. You can still play music and use it as an iPod. This device can simply be called a mini iPhone.
The Bluetooth connection range between the watch and device is about 30 feet. When it is connected over Wi-Fi its range depends on the Wi-Fi range. The Apple Watch has a new S1 processor made by Apple, has OLED display, its own gyro meter and heart-rate monitor, but no on-board GPS. To sum it up, comes with an inbuilt speaker and microphone, but no headphone jack. The device’s battery, however, is quite short. The watch struggles to go through a full day of use.

When it comes to royal familiesnothing happens by chance.
ROYAL BABY
CHARLOTTE: WHAT'S IN A NAME? W
hen they announced the name of their newborn daughter, HRH Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, Britain’s Prince William and his wife Catherine appeared to have overcome unsurmountable odds. See, they had to please both sides of the family and they did it with class. Their choice of name also ensured a scandalfree beginning for their newborn. William and Kate are believed to be a tradition-inclined couple. Add royal history to their story and every decision they make becomes prone to scandal. This is why we think the couple deserve praise for cleverly naming their secondborn. And here’s the process we believe they may have gone through in making the decision. Charlotte Charlotte, the feminine form of Charles, William’s father’s name, also happens to be Catherine’s younger sister, Philipa’s middle name. Charlotte has not been used by a member of the royal family in over two hundred years, and so chances are the couple chose it more for its familial significance than the history it evokes, but its history can not be overlooked either. George III married Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (the nation’s longestserving consort after Prince Philip) on September 8, 1761 in the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace. Kate’s second pregnancy was

announced on September 8, 2014, and the Chapel Royal is the likely venue for Princess Charlotte’s upcoming Christening. See the beauty of royal history? George and Charlotte first met on their wedding day, but regardless theirs was a happy union complete with 15 children. Their eldest daughter, Princess Charlotte, was designated Princess Royal in 1789, a title newborn Charlotte is expected to one day assume as the eldest daughter of the reigning monarch. In 1762 George purchased Buckingham House — the site where Buckingham Palace sits today —as a family retreat for his Queen. George IV’s only child, a daughter named Charlotte Augusta, married Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg on May 2, 1816. Nearly 200 years later, May 2 now marks the date of Princess Charlotte of Cambridge’s birth. As Princess of Wales, Charlotte was an immensely popular royal figure, and her tragic death at the age of 21, mere hours after delivering a stillborn son, was widely mourned. The youngest daughter of Earl Spencer, Diana’s brother, is named Charlotte. Among William’s other cousins are boys named George, Alexander and Louis -- all names William chose when naming his own son in 2013. Elizabeth Elizabeth was the only certainty in predicting a royal baby name. As the name of both William’s grandmother

and great-grandmother it seems an especially fitting choice given the Queen will become Britain’s longest reigning monarch on September 9 of this year. Elizabeth also carries personal significance for the Middleton family. It is the middle name shared by Kate and her mother Carole, as well as being the first given name of Kate’s maternal great-grandmother and her great-great-grandmother. Diana William has always striven to include his mother in the key moments of his life, and as such the most poignant and personal of Charlotte’s three names is that of her late grandmother, Diana. Perfectly placed so as not to be a burden, it ensures Diana’s memory is kept alive for the next generation of young royals. Charlotte’s name honors the women most cherished in both William and Kate’s lives as well as paying homage to William’s father, but perhaps more importantly it also allows for her to have her own identity within the royal family. rands have accepted the power of social media in broadening their reach. Any brand worth its name is now on social media and has teams dedicated to keeping their accounts updated. But the world of social media is cut throat—You snooze you loose. Players in the field have to constantly be aware and informed of the happenings on social media if they have to make an impact. Three days ago, fashion blogger Sharon Mundia, popularly known as This Is Ess announced her fairytale engagement via her blog. Within minutes the blog had crashed
because there was too much traffic on the site. In the course of the day, Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) started a trending hash tag #polekwamwirigi to console a popular twitter user know to have a gigantic crush on Ess. Within minutes, corporates had mounted the hash tag and were using it to cleverly market their products. Brands, from Airtel to Kenya Airways, to banks, rode on the #polekwamwirigi wave and they made it work for them. Social media can help a small business looking to grow their brand by providing great visibility. Through social media, a brand can gain the attentoion of customers who were not
aware of the brand’s existence. But for proper impact, brands need individuals or teams that can identify and exploit the available opportunities. For instance, the #ploekwamwirigi hash tag only needed a bright person to see the opportunity and mine it before anyone did and boom. Once the hashtag’s potential was identified, other brands started milking it with zeal! How brands interact with customers online is key. If a particular brand has rude social media executives chances that customers will endorse the brand offline range from slim to none.

The voice of comrades is the voice of God Kabianga University Students have challenged the school administration to provide an explanation to various hazy incidents in the school. The students tabled questions via their Whatsapp group “voice of comrades” after the administration failed to respond to ‘a state of emergency’ within the institution when a female student was stabbed to death. Comrades could not comprehend why the college’s drivers were being paid yet they were not available to respond to
emergencies. They also were not pleased with the doctors and health practioners at the school who failed to perform first aid on the student, which they believe could have saved her life. The students also want the administration to explain the numerous unaccounted deaths of their colleagues, claiming that no postmortems results have ever been presented. Comrades showed continued displeasure with the security guards who allows none student to enter the university compound especially in bizarre hours without being frisked.

Excitement is in the air as tens of students embrace a new-found freedom. The newbies have been receiving a warm welcome to the campus, with a number of older students serving as volunteers to help the freshmen navigate their way around the vast grounds that is the University. Considering that most of the University’s buildings look a like, the guiding hand is definitely needed. The May-September semester looks a promising one, if the lovely-looking freshmen and women of Kenyatta University are anything to go by.

You can bet your life savings are safe in the hands of 24-year-old Cosmas Kote, the Executive Director of Crystal Spark Company. What does your job entail? My job is to design, develop, oversee, implement and put to action strategic plans, products and services that will help the company grow and also provide leadership and growth opportunities for my team. How many hours do you work in a day? I have no set work hours. I work depending on the job at hand What qualifications do you need for your job? You need to be very entrepreneurial. Academic qualifications can get you a job but character and attitude gets the job done which is of importance especially in my business. Was this your dream career? Not really, I always imagined myself as a Civil Engineer! How did you start out? After completing my diploma in Civil Engineering, I found that I could not start my own firm as I did not have the required five years’ experience. I was devastated but did not give up. That is when I got the idea to start my own
company. With Sh2, 000 I got all the legal documents processed and Crystal Spark was birthed in February 2011. I also got a lot of support and inspiration from my family and friends. Worth mentioning are my mentors Eric Kyengo, Robinson Ng’ethe and Dennis Katei. Currently my team is made up of 6 permanent and 20 casual employees. We celebrated four years of God’s favor and faithfulness this year. What achievements have you had so far? Having a company which provides successful services including errand and courier, technical, commercial cleaning, moving and relocating services for both individuals and corporates is a big milestone. I also feel good toprovide solutions tothe unemployment problem facing our country. Creating opportunities and jobs to the young generation is a core pillar of Crystal Spark Company. Any challenges you have experienced so far? Yes, overcoming the age bias. Most of the elderly generation
tend to believe that a young person cannot get any work done and this can be an obstacle when applying for tenders. Does your job interfere with your social life? No. It actually complements it. I meet new clients daily enabling me to share experiences and solutions with them. What is the best part of your job? I am always happy to see our clients smile and satisfied with our services. What is the worst part of your job? Not being able to take on all the clients that request our services. Our solution to this issue is to grow and expand our company – which we are working on. What is your advice to budding entrepreneurs? Always remember that persistence builds character, character builds habits, habits build attitude, and attitude builds results.

World’s most expensive Cities
The Norwegian capital has a varied and strong economy and was ranked number one among European large cities in economic potential. Only Amsterdam ranked above Oslo in the business- friendliness category. The maritime sector that has over 8500 employees has played a crucial role in making Oslo the economic powerhouse it is today. Most notably, the housing units in the Norwegian capital are off the charts. Basic commodities are not your usual cup of tea either.

Sleep in soft silky night wear.
The most populous city in France also happens to be a costly place to live in. Home to a number of tourist attractions such as the Eiffle tower, The Louvre museum and Disneyland, foreigners are no strangers to the so called “City of Love”. This can be used to justify the over 1500 hotels in the city, 55 of them ranking as 5 star hotels. According to a 2015 survey, Paris ranked the world’s second most expensive city.
singapore
Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial hub where, basic commodities such as bread and groceries are nearly quadruple the price in the US. The South Asian state is known for its free, yet stupendously competitive economy. In fact, a recent study revealed that Singapore is the second freest economy, after Japan. For this reason, Singapore remains as the most expensive cities to live in today. This could partly be due to extremely high prices in both clothing and transportation. If you think fuel prices are high in Kenya, wait till you hear the price of a car in Singapore.

Stars will overturn the score, pointing out he believes Kenya will be in the second round. “Playing at home will most likely give us an advantage against Botswana. Our opponents, were not better than us. They had very minimal activity in front of our goal and only scored due to defensive mistakes. I believe we still have the chance and we can score more than three goals and advance,” said Williamson. Williamson also said he wants his side to take control of the match early on and get an early goal and build on it. “It will not be too hard for us to score three or four within 90 minutes. I believe in the boys, I believe in their abilities and it is only a matter of sacrifice and hard work and we will be there,” said Williamson.

Mourinho closes in on new Chelsea deal Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is close to agreeing a new contract after securing a third Premier League title. Mourinho, 52, is halfway through a fouryear deal signed on his return to Stamford Bridge in June 2013. And further talks are expected in the coming weeks with the club and the Portuguese keen on a long-term option. In his first spell at the club between 2004 and 2007, Mourinho won consecutive Premier League titles and succeeded this season with three games to spare. The 2005 title was Chelsea’s first top-flight success in 50 years and he also delivered
two League Cups and an FA Cup. But he left the club to eventually join Inter Milan after falling out with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. Since his return after a six-and-a-half-year absence, which included three seasons at Real Madrid, Mourinho has spoken of his desire to stay as long as the Russian billionaire wishes to keep him. The Blues boss repeated that after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat of Crystal Palace, which secured Chelsea’s first title since 2010 and the eighth of his prolific career.
Newcastle skipper apologises to fans Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini has written an open letter to fans calling for unity as the club battles to stay in the Premier League. The Magpies held crisis talks with manager John Carver earlier this week after losing their last eight league matches - their worst run since 1977. They are now two points above the relegation zone with three games left. “On behalf of the squad we would like to apologise for the moment we are going through,” wrote Coloccini. “Players and staff have come together in order to leave all past problems aside and
to focus 100% on the three ‘cup finals’ that we have left. “I would like to make a call to all fans today to also leave aside all differences, all different opinions, anything that divides us as people who love this club.” Newcastle host West Brom on Saturday before travelling to QPR on 16 May and then hosting West Ham on 24 May. “The time we have left to turn around this situation is short but after the end of the season we will try to learn from the mistakes we made so that we don’t have to go through this again,” added Coloccini.
INTERNATIONAL DUTY: Gor Mahia defender Harun Shakava is among those called to camp for the CAF U23 Championship Qualification match against Botswana.
Robinho joins Brazil team for Copa America Former Manchester City forward Robinho has been called up to Brazil’s Copa America squad after a run of good form for Santos in his home country. The 31-year-old, who is on loan from AC Milan, was part of the team that won the tournament in 2007. Barcelona forward Neymar and Paris StGermain defenders David Luiz and Thiago Silva have also been included in the 23-man squad. But Chelsea midfielder Oscar misses out after an injury in training. Coach Dunga said Premier League champions Chelsea told him the 23-year-old would not be fit for the tournament in Chile, which starts on June 11. “His recuperation will take time and he won’t
be at his best during the Copa America,” said Dunga. “After the Copa America we have the World Cup qualifiers, and we thought it best for him to be ready for those.” Oscar said he was very sad to miss the tournament. Robinho was heavily linked with Chelsea in September 2008 but was signed by City in a Sh4.56billion a move that signalled the resources and intent of the club’s new Abu Dhabi-based owners. He left two years later for Milan after struggling to make an impact. Brazil begin their Copa America campaign against Peru on 14 June before facing Colombia and Venezuela.

Team Uganda glides through Motocross st Challenge’s 1 round Uganda overcame the muddy track to produce some thrilling races against Kenya in the opening round of the FIM Central Africa Motocross Challenge at the Garuga race track. It was a walk-over for Uganda in the MX1 category and reigning champion Maxime Van Pee barely broke sweat in the MX1 class, winning all three heats with ease. But the absence of Kenyan riders in that class provided less competition. Maxime, who was on his first assignment as Uganda captain, was pleased with the results and hoping to seal it in Kenya.
“We are the overall winner, I am happy Isabelle managed to win 50cc, Fortune 85cc, it was unfortunate for us in other classes, but still we remain on top. We made a good lead with points and hope to retain the championship in Kenya,” said Maxime. Kenya’s Ngugi Waweru had a clean sweep of all heats in the combined MX2 and Mx125. Waweru, however, confessed to having faced tight competition. “Honestly the race was tough. I had pressure from
Alestair and Ali who were so close to me till they made mistakes. I enjoyed and I am looking forward to race Ugandans again,” said Waweru. The 85cc class was another interesting contest between Fortune Sentamu and team mate Aviv Orland. The duo shared the three heats, Sentamu winning two while Orland took one. However, Kenya’s Rolf Kihara did not spare any gap on them throughout the race as he eventually settled for second position overall after Sentamu.

Mayweather calls Pacquaio a loser, says he has had enough of the excuses Floyd Mayweather says “winners win and losers have excuses” after Manny Pacquiao blamed a shoulder injury for his loss to the American in Las Vegas. Pacquiao is being sued in Nevada after he was accused of lying about the injury suffered before the bout. The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) says Pacquiao, 36, did not declare the injury, but the Filipino claims a treatment plan was
agreed. Mayweather, 38, said after 19 years undefeated he has never had an excuse. He posted on Instagram: “Nineteen years in the fight game and I’ve had one excuse: “Don’t have an excuse.” Pacquiao is being sued by two people in Nevada who have alleged the boxer defrauded ticket buyers, television viewers and gamblers.
They have opened lawsuits just hours after the NAC accused the fighter of being dishonest by not declaring his injury on a pre-fight questionnaire. If any action is taken against the Filipino, the potential penalty for perjury could be a jail sentence of between one and four years, and a fine of up to $5,000 (Sh450,000) Pacquiao blamed his injury for his points defeat claiming it stopped him
using his right hand - but a joint statement released by Team Pacquiao and his promoters Top Rank said the United States Anti-doping Agency (Usada) had been notified during the fighter’s training camp and on fight night. Mayweather scored a unanimous points victory in the four-belt unification bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the win extending the American’s unbeaten record as a professional to 48 fights.

Messi’s quick-fire magic brace spoils Guardioloa’s homecoming Barca 3-0 Bayern
L
ionel Messi scored twice as Barcelona struck three times in the final 13 minutes of the first leg to whisk their Champions League semi-final tie away from a stubborn Bayern Munich side. The hosts seemed set for a frustrating night before Messi fired a low shot home from the edge of the area. Three minutes later he skipped past Jerome Boateng and dinked home coolly. Led by ex-Barca boss Pep Guardiola, Bayern pushed for an away goal and were punished again as Neymar raced clear. Until the devastating conclusion, the Germans had produced an excellent tactical display. Stripped of the twin attacking threats of the injured Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, they frustrated the hosts for large periods and could have had a goal of their own had Robert Lewandowski connected cleanly with Thomas Muller’s cross. But while Guardiola’s four trophy-filled years at the Nou Camp had been based on monopolising possession and patient build-up, the Barcelona that has emerged in his absence is a more dynamic animal. Their attacking trio of Luis Suarez, Messi and Neymar - while never entirely shackled - had
seemed well-guarded after an open initial 15 minutes, but they burst into life at the end. Guardiola predicted before the match that it was “impossible” to stifle Messi, but goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s hurried free-kick that gifted Barcelona the lead was very avoidable. As possession turned over the Argentina forward took advantage of a pocket of space to fire home. If Messi’s first was preventable, his second was irresistible as he left Boateng floundering and deftly lifted the ball over the giant frame of Neuer.Guardiola’s opening gambit on his return to Catalonia had been a back three of Rafinha, Boateng and Medhi Benatia, but that was hastily re-jigged as an under-staffed defence was initially stretched horribly out of shape. If that tactical mistake went unpunished, Barcelona were more ruthless as Bayern pushed forward late on and Neymar scampered clear in injury time to seemingly end the tie as a contest. Bayern require more of the fighting spirit that saw them recover from 3-1 adrift against Porto in the previous round. Ominously for English teams it was a match that suggested a chasm in class - rather than a statistical anomaly - is behind their recent absence from the latter stages of the competition.
