ational Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has barred MPs from travelling out of the country as panic grips the House over the passage of key constitutional Bills whose deadline expires next week. Parliament risk being dissolved should MPs fail to pass the Bills. But with that feat clearly impossible to achieve, the legislators
have agreed to extend the deadline to shield them from being sent home. But a crisis is brewing following their failure to agree on the duration of the extension. While those in the opposition are pushing for the deadline to be extended by not more than six months, their colleagues in the Jubilee coalition want it pushed
forward by a year. On Wednesday, the House was forced to defer debate on the motion after Mr Muturi realised that the two-thirds majority required to approve the extension could not be raised. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
