Ruto pilot in trouble as assault video goes viral

A

man said to be a pilot to Deputy President William Ruto is in trouble after a video in which he is captured assaulting a police officer went viral on social media. Captain Alister Brown is captured assaulting a female police officer in the video which has elicited anger and rage from Kenyans. He had been hired by Deputy President William Ruto to

fly him on an Airbus AS350 helicopter to a prayer service at Ndunyu Njeru Catholic Parish in Kinangop, Nyandarua County on Sunday. Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has ordered criminal proceedings against the pilot and asked his officers to immediately launch investigations into the matter. The incident happened on Sunday in Ndunyu Njeru, Nyandarua County.

“Following the unfortunate incident that took place in Ndunyu Njeru in Nyandarua, last Sunday, where an alleged pilot is captured assaulting a female police officer in uniform, the Inspector General of Police has ordered investigations with immediate effect and commencement of criminal proceedings against the suspect,” Boinnet said in a statement. President Uhuru Kenyatta now risks being impeached after he declined to form a tribunal to investigate Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi over Sh200 million bribery allegation. Justice Tunoi faces bribery accusations for which the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) already recommended that the President form a tribunal to probe the allegations. But yesterday, State House said the President will not form the said tribunal citing a case in court which is challenging Justice Tunoi’s legality in office. But lawyers are warning that the refusal to appoint a tribunal could expose President Uhuru to impeachment. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2
