he Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has asked critics to tone down their criticism and allow it time to adequately prepare for next year’s General Election. IEBC chief Executive Ezra Chiloba

said continued calls for fundamental changes at the electoral body is not good at this time as it is creating tension among the commissioners. The Opposition has been calling for the removal of all IEBC commissioners alongside other fundamental reforms at the

institution. But Chiloba argues that such calls with barely 19 months to the polls only adds to the uncertainty about the adequacy of the team to conduct free and fair polls. Continued on page 2

Pressure is mounting for the Supreme Court judges to quit and have the bench reconstituted following graft allegations against one of them. Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale (pictured) has added his voice to the calls, saying the Supreme Court judges should do justice to the people of Kenya and resign as their integrity has now been cast into doubt. “I have a lot of respect for the judges. I have nothing personal against them, but at this rate they should be fair to the country and resign,” he said. He said Kenyans have lost confidence with the current judges whom he said can no longer be trusted with the dispensation of justice. “I think we have lost the war on graft if the judges in the highest court that we trust can put the country in such an awkward position,” he said with reference to the investigations on Justice Philip Tunoi who is accused of having received a Sh200 million bribe to influence the outcome of a petition lodged at the court.
